Quality punk would be stuff from the 70’s and 80’s; GG Allin, Sham69, The Casualties, The Adicts, etc.
I would understand why Green Day, and other bands, would say something bad about religion that you don’t approve of. A lot of religious people today are being overly zealous and shoving religion down peoples’ throats, all kinds of people believing their religion is the
only one that’s true. There’s a lot of scandals. Hardly anybody likes the president, I’m assuming there are John Kerry fans on this board more than there are George Bush fans.
Be a good parent and shield your child from the truth and reality, though.
Bad Brains… didn’t they smoke marijuana?
shrug
I don’t know, I didn’t think they had positive lyrics with song titles like “Pay to Cum”, “Supertouch/Shitfit”. But then again, I don’t listen to them, and the lead singer’s voice is strange enough to the point where you can’t even
understand the lyrics.

But, I’d think if she told somebody familiar with Bad Brains that she listens to them, that person would assume she listens to bands with not-so-positive lyrics.
What’s going to stop your daughter from listening to Green Day when she’s an adult? What if she’s hanging out with friends and decides to “live a little” and listen to Green Day at her friends’ house? You won’t always have control over her, and their lyrics aren’t going to have her start cutting herself and “send her to Hell”.
