they have been quite clear through the years. they will push an incremental ban until they have a total ban.
They want to reel in three hundred million guns? That’s going to make the effort to kill all the pot plants look like child’s play.
it says the right of the people to keep bear arms shall not be infringed. it doesn’t place any limits on the right.
The Supreme Court has not seen fit to recognize a right to own machine guns, so the federal government has had free reign to infringe that one all day long.

Name another right that has no boundaries. There aren’t any.

the supreme court has been wrong before.

The boundaries involve whether or not your use of the weapon infringed on another person’s rights. There is no justification for further boundaries.

The Supreme Court is not infallible. They did uphold a right to murder children after all.

The only line I am drawing is one in the sand. I am not obeying any laws that infringe on my right to defend myself.

The Church is not a political entity.

But the moral stances of her people are affected and challenged by the laws that surround them.

The Church does not exist in a vacuum. Neither do her constituents.

Hence the discussion.
The Supreme Court is not infallible.
I don’t think PetraG was implying it is. All she said was SCOTUS hasn’t overturned FOPA. Has it been challenged in a court of law? Honest question.

Government always involves the use of force. When you use that force to infringe on my rights, that is evil.

Im sure yours won’t. But someone else’s might.
Go after that person then and leave my rifles alone.
These things aren’t like stereos where the abuse of one is just an annoyance. When rifles are abused people die.
That is why we have laws against murder. The undesirable behavior is already outlawed.
This is why fewer and fewer people support your views with each additional mass shooting.

There’s an economy to this and it is swinging against those with your views. Praise God.
Large groups of people easily swayed by emotion are yet another good reason to own guns.

You’re the one who contends there is an unfettered right.
There is evidence you are wrong–that is, because the first National Firearms Act which regulated firearms was enacted in 1934 and was only the first of many laws regulating firearms.

laws don’t define right and wrong, just what is acceptable to those who made the laws

as someone above said. abortion is legal but it is not right.

the right as written is unfettered no matter how it is later interpreted.

Yes. Darndest thing about those laws, really: you actually have to enforce them.
When you use that force to infringe on my rights, that is evil.
When the abuse of that “right” creates more damage than it’s worth, then it needs to be curtailed.
-One of the reasons you can’t just go out and buy a fully automatic.

So are you willing to kill me over my possession of a rifle? That is what enforcement will entail.

Even before fully automatic weapons were outlawed, they were rarely used to commit crimes. It was just another instance of a knee jerk reaction by society.

When Minority Report’s “Pre-Crime” becomes a reality, we’ll do that.

Until then, your full-autos aren’t freely available to the public. We’re trying to add assault style semis to that list.

We don’t want to punish the man that slaughters a load of innocents nearly as much as we want to keep him from being able to carry out the act in the first place.
Large groups of people easily swayed by emotion…
Yeah, like fear-baiting the gun-toting NRA crowd.

You just admitted that you wanted to take our rifles. It seems like that fear is rooted in reality.

Happy BD, Cruciferi,
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be at your back.
May the sun, be warm upon your face
The rain fall soft upon your fields
And
May God hold you in the palm of His hands.
In Christ’s Love
Tweedlealice

Oh sweet lord…
That is what enforcement will entail.
Yup. The Brits and Aussies are still stacking the bodies from people resisting their gun restrictions.

Oh wait… no they aren’t…
Even before fully automatic weapons were outlawed, they were rarely used to commit crimes.
Yeah, the tech was very new. When was the first even made? the Maxim gun in the 1880s?

New tech requires MONEY to own.
It was just another instance of a knee jerk reaction by society.
Or an absolutely phenomenal idea.

Imagine these mass shooters if they had real automatic weapons… Vegas, VA Tech, Sandy Hook…

Ah, so you are suggesting that your right to own a machine gun is God-given?

I have no idea where you got that idea.

No I didn’t. You’re just trying to spin as hard as you can because you’ve lost the moral upper hand and it’s painfully obvious…

Kids need meaning.
Not nesecarily Catholicism ( that would be the best) but sports, service…
We need to be taken out of our phones and put in the real world

are they really outlawed or just scarce and super regulated to own. you can’t buy a new one but you can buy an old one.
