I almost always vote down tax increases, but if my school district wanted a milage to pay teachers to take training for firearms I would vote yes.

“Self-defense against an unjust aggressor is morally permitted. There is also a moral duty for the defense of others by those who are responsible for their lives. the same reason the theater shooter picked a gun free theater to attack. he didn’t want anyone shooting back at him. arming teachers removes the gun-free zone and increases the chance the perp will get shot.

under plans i read, those carrying would only be known to a select few people
 
Oh, I’ve never thought gun proponents are evil. Just another means of arriving at the same goal, which we all want. We must, I think, take into consideration the needs of the local community and the region of the country.

You can’t even state what the law is anymore.
 
So the plan is hide guns in schools from people? What if a teacher decides to commit a mass shooting?
 
The Revised Standard Catholic Bible literally says “Thou shall not kill”. Should I just pretend it doesn’t say that?
 
It is fun! I drove up to the National Forest range today. Set up my home made target and shot my .45’s holster draw, from the hip. It don’t get no more funner than that! Taking it slow, methodical. Did better than I expected!

You said the plan would be to only tell some people which teachers have guns. I would feel unsafe in my workplace if my coworkers had guns and I’m not allowed to know they have them.
 
The Catechism is crystal clear. And any instructor or LEO would add, aim for the center of mass, and fire until the threat is neutralized.
Or until you’re out of boo-lits. Then take cover and reload. 🤡🌎

It’s an approved translation, that’s all I care about. If it’s good enough for the Church, then it’s good enough for me.

If you want it to say “thou shall not murder”, then covert to Protestantism and start using the King James.

I don’t speak Hebrew.

i said the plan i read, it was not a final plan. i don’t know where you are from, it may have nothing to do with your state

Unfortunately the active shooter does not care what part of the country your kids are in. Actually the bad guy would probably prefer a more liberal anti gun community rather than say Texas or Wyoming where people walk around with guns frequently.
 
Go to a good gun range and they will probably direct you to a good gun safety course. You will be able to shoot in safety and under good instruction. It’s fun and challenging.

I would only do that if I didn’t have to buy a gun. In NJ, the red tape is unbelievable. You have to get a permit to buy and then register the gun. The State Police have the right to paw through the applicant’s insurance records to see whether he or she has been in a day program or overnight patient in a mental hospital. I think that’s intrusive. I’d like target shooting as a sport.
 
Colorado has an extremely well developed gun culture and gun violence is common there.

Tennessee has the highest rate of violent crime in the US and Atlanta, New Orleans, Houston, Miami, Jacksonville, Memphis, Charleston, Orlando, Raleigh, and Dallas all have higher rates of gun violence than Chicago.
