There is a proposal in Pennsylvania for the registration of all guns despite the fact that such a registry appears to be all but useless in solving gun crimes.Requiring a license means that the government knows you have a gun. That makes it much easier for them seize and confiscate your firearms.
None of these are a constitutional right. What about driver licenses, which have to be renewed periodically? And when you cannot pass the vision test (which is NOT a punishment), then your license is revoked. Is that also punishment? What about special licenses for different types of cars or trucks? Not to mention pilots. What about barbers and beauticians?
Sometimes, cheaper is better…And the gangster holding his [Taurus] sideways
I believe the U.S. founders held that: The only defense against a tyrannical government is a citizen with a gun.The best defense against a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
It is a semi-automatic that is commonly recommended for those with smaller body mass, such as small women and the eldery.A gun maybe needed in those situations, but a semi-automatic or an automatic probabily isn’t.
What is your basis for that assessment? And what about the women defending against a home invader? Is that not also a valid defense?who’ll probably get to the gun before her.
So if the attacker has a gun, the defender ( police, civilians, whoever) should disarm themselves as the best solution???Nope, the best solution is not to have any firearms.
How would you enforce that? They are very easy to make by anyone who has taken a basic high school shop class. How could have an attacker have a gun, when NO ONE has a gun?
What is your recommended retail price for heroin then? If you owned a grocery store, how much would you keep in stock on the shelves?Make the drugs legal, and there will be no drug gangs
Considering that the solution sought is, by definition, a practical one, that has to be the starting point for any discussion. Will the proposed solution achieve the effect desired. Is there any conceptual objection to this principle? If and when we can agree on this principle, then the practical solution can be addressed.
Sounds good. Let’s eliminate any desire for violence, and then we can see if gun control is needed after that.I have no problem with this solution. Once we dealt with the problem as stated, we can discuss the practicality of yours. And then we can also investigate which solution is easier to put into practice
Actually, based on my hands and wrists, a semi-auto is exactly what is needed. As I have stated, I am disabled. If it isn’t semi-auto, it is a club. One shot and my hands won’t be able to hold it.A gun maybe needed in those situations, but a semi-automatic or an automatic probabily isn’t.
A woman is most likely going to be killed by her husband, so if a woman is going to own a gun to defend herself she is going to most likely use it on her husband, who’ll probably get to the gun before her.
Most women who kill their abusive husbands end up in prison.
why just reduce ALL violence, then no one would care about who has firearms or not. Having an Uzi would then be no more threating than having juggling clubs. We do have the technology to eliminate firearms related violence.
