. We know with 100% certainty that there will be more massacres of this nature but where are all the gun owners organised to protect them?
it has been said but needs to be repeated, schools and such are gun free zones. The good guys aren’t allowed by law to do anything.

ask a gun control person why can’t a trained person carry concealed to protect the kids.

It’s common sense that vulnerable targets need specific organised protection. Arming the targets is a recipe for disaster. Schools of all places need perimeter defense especially when the weapons of choice favoured by school shooters have the capacity to inflict mass destruction.

agreed, arm and train willing teachers

agreed, no one suggests arming the students

agreed, but this has not always worked as planned. at parkland doors and gates were left unlocked, unstaffed and the school resource officer failed to respond to the threat.

which brings us back to the need for a good person with a gun, in this case, good, trained, willing teachers.

I work in schools. I figure it’s my duty to protect the kids with my life, if need be. It’d be nice if I had a fighting chance but my firearm must remain unloaded and locked in my trunk. So, I have whiteboard markers…shrug

Am I committing a sin purchasing a gun for that purpose without a licence?
When you defend the lives of your children and your reluctant wife from an intruder some day do you think your indiscretion will bother you?

Why? When seconds count the police are minutes away. There is no perimeter defense or lock that will stop a determined shooter. EVERY school needs at least one, preferably three, teachers who are able and willing to defend the lives of everyone inside the school. Yes of course the armed teachers or other school personnel should be sent to a training school. There are many available.

I’m sure there are many veterans that are teachers that could easily be trained.

It is true that the UK reports a higher rate of violent crime than the USA, but this is because the UK has a much broader definition of violence, for example gentle pushing would be reported as a violent crime in the UK, but not the USA
Not true. Any “unwanted touching” is an assault and battery in the US.
I speak as a Brit who just can’t understand the American fixation with guns and is astonished that ordinary Americans do not demand the repeal of whichever amendment to their constitution that allows such widespread ownership of items made and designed to kill
We have millions of guns here already. If the government ever did take guns away from law abiding citizens (they would have to kill me first personally) then how are we to defend ourselves from armed intruders since the bad guys would certainly not turn in their guns and their guns aren’t registered?

“Thou shall not kill” is pretty cut and dry. It doesn’t “except” at all.

The 6th commandment is “thou shalt not murder.” Protection of innocents or yourself is not a sin.

I don’t know if you’re committing a sin, but I think you’re probably committing a crime. In any case, your wife is apparently an intelligent woman and you should pay more heed to what she feels regarding guns in the house.

Sorry to be sexist, but your the man. Defending your wife and kids is YOUR job. Do it.

It’s all such wishy washy bubbly jock that. There’s a sound reason for not putting guns at the ready in classrooms and expecting teachers to form the first line of defense from there. It’s not done in any other vulnerable area like government offices, airports, banks, court houses etc. Perimetre defense and a well regulated security front are by far the most effective way of safeguarding vulnerable buildings and preventing guns getting into the wrong hands to boot.

Create the safety net envisioned by the 2nd Amendment of a ‘well regulated militia’ dedicated to protecting vulnerable environments as the first line of a ‘well regulated’ defense. It seems so blatantly obvious the answer.

Millions of ‘men of the house’ around the world do that by opposing the proliferation of guns in the community that makes their wives and children such vulnerable targets.

Actually I’m the Revised Standard Catholic translation is says “thou shall not kill”. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

I’m not Jewish and I don’t speak Hebrew. The Catholic Bible says “thou shall not kill”.

Your understanding of the 2nd Amendment is wrong.

It’s sad that people care more about the 2nd amendment than the 6th commandment. God’s law is above all else.
