And if you don’t think this is due to guns, there is this:
So you want a repeal of the second amendment?
I don’t know. Those other countries in the list seem to be doing a lot better than us in gun violence without a 2nd amendment.
The US already has more guns in it than people. I would like to know how many of those gun deaths are from the good guy defending himself in self defense. You don’t break that down.
Even if a large fraction of them were from a good guy defending himself in self defense, that still does not explain why the US gun murder rate is so much higher than those other countries.
Guns are equilizers so that the elderly and smaller people don’t have to go up against larger attackers.
The statistics don’t bear that out. The eldery, etc. are still being murdered at a rate far higher than in comparable countries without so many guns.

You can disable someone without killing them.

I’d try and disable them, but not kill them.
Wow you must be one of those super secret ninja warriors who lives in the matrix huh? I bet your faster than a bullet! Unfortunately we are not all as good as you Mr. Ninja.

Yes the rest of us need to have a loaded firearm, training, and a plan. So please anyone else reading this don’t be like Mr. Ninja. You must get it straight in your head that in an emergency you may have to use deadly force to intervene to save innocent lives. Have your gun ready ( with one in the chamber please), be sure of your target, and do what is necessary. It’s up to you. Please don’t count on Mr. Ninja!

I’m sensing unneeded and unwarranted hostility. I just would rather not kill someone.

That is a huge misconception furthered by the anti gun lobby. These people NEVER count instances where a gun was brandished or otherwise displayed and the potential attacker runs away. The NRA publishes these anticdodal stories frequently. Many times they appear in the printed or televised news.

As for the frequency of gun deaths the fact is there are already millions of guns here. Some people hate that fact while others are delighted. But we have to deal with the world as it is right? The bad guys are armed with guns, knives, sticks, or their empty hands. You won’t need a gun till you do. Then if you selected your firearm carefully, had great training, practice regularly, and carry your gun (one in the chamber please) in a good holster you will be ready, and you will use the gun correctly.

If your sensing hostilty now just wait till your loved ones are murdered in front of you while you stand there with empty hands. You will probably recall our talk and live with regret the rest of your life.

That’s more of an if, rather than a when situation. I doubt that will happen to my loved ones, I hope.

The answer to all that nonsense is TRAINING
When you play with fire you are always at risk of getting burn. Even the military and police officers have “accidents”, it would be naïve to think less trained civilians will not.

I really am wondering where this attitude is coming from. Is everything okay?

Right, so get your self into a good training program and stop whining. There are many good civilian based school’s out there taught by exmilitary and law enforcement.

There is Gun Sight Academy, Jim Grover’s Crucible and several more whose names I don’t recall now.

You can be at home when a crack induced crazy man breaks into your house. You may be at the mall when a terrorist starts opening fire on everyone. You may be in a theater when some psychotic starts shooting at random. What do all these perpetrators have in common you ask? One of my instructors said “they need to see the light” which means you need to open their heads with your .45 caliber to let the sun shine in to their brains. That’s right, you need to intervene to stop innocent kids and senior citizens from getting killed.

Will you get injured or killed in the attempt? Yeah maybe, but what greater gift than to lay own your life for others? Where have you heard that before? Didn’t Jesus tell his apostles to take a sword with them on their jorneys? If Jesus had lived today he would have said “take a Glock”.

My attitude is fine. Your the one who thinks he can stop a bullet with his teeth. As I told someone else you don’t need a gun till you do. I am always packing. Till I need it I am just happy to watch the movie, spend my money at the mall, watch the school play etc. But if I hear gun shots or see a threat I am ready to respond accordingly per my training and knowledge.

It just seems like you make me out to be a terrible person for not choosing to use lethal force. I’m not knocking your choices, it’s just not MY thing, yknow?

Interested in everyone’s thoughts on these gun regulation ideas.

Please disregard the political party, I’m interested in whether you favor or not the proposals and WHY. Of course, the devil is in the details but could you live with these regulation? I think I could as a gun owner…I might be bothered by some as personal inconvenience but if it gave police investigators better tools, I am in favor.

It’s not your “thing” till lives are at risk. I don’t think your a terrible person. You just aren’t prepared. In life there are sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. The sheep go about their lives clueless to any danger. The wolves prey upon the unsuspecting sheep. The sheep dogs defend the sheep. Which are you? It’s your choice dude.

Apparently that does not happen often enough to bring down the gun deaths. You still have not offered any alternate explanation as to why our gun death rate is so much higher than in comparable nations.
As for the frequency of gun deaths the fact is there are already millions of guns here. But we have to deal with the world as it is right?
No, we can change it.
The bad guys are armed with guns, knives, sticks, or their empty hands.
67% of all murders in 2010 were done with a gun. That leaves only 33% to be done with knives, sticks, baseball clubs, poison,… and empty hands. I think it is worth it to fix 67% of the homicides even if it doesn’t fix 100%.
Then if you selected your firearm carefully, had great training, practice regularly, and carry your gun (one in the chamber please) in a good holster you will be ready, and you will use the gun correctly.
That is very true. It is also true that too many people do not follow this excellent advice.

Yes, and it would be entirely my fault for thinking that I can pull a John Wayne and do a better job than a police officer or the military. And even they have injuries and sometimes die also.

I’m not whining, just don’t like guns, and do not think arming myself or other civilians will help.

Jesus said many things which should not be taken literally (e.g. better to cut off a hand than go with hands to hell), please do not try to sabotage Jesus’s message to fit your narrative. Jesus also asked Simon to lay down his sword when he was taken as a prisoner. By the way, the Catholic Church has been also advocating for common sense gun control.

I got nauseated half way through this nonsense. Guns are leagal so why sue or otherwise prosecute gun manufacturers? Does he want to get revenge? Why? To what end? Guns can be used by good guys to defend themselves and bad guys to attack. Would you sue GM when a drunk driver kills a family? This is just liberal Democrat malarchy designed to get votes because he is “doing something.”

Because…Nowadays, there is more regulation over toy guns than real ones. While medicine, children’s toys, and any number of other consumer products are subject to regulation by the federal government, firearms are exempt.
Why shouldn’t safety issues be open to litigation like everything else in our society is? Why are gun manufacturers exempt?
