Hallucinations?

Several things; amongst those that saw Him were many practicing Jews. Not only were they Jews, they saw Him in various places, in various contexts, and people saw Him that were quite skeptical of His resurrection. They would not have been on drugs. Further even if they were all on drugs across the board in spite of their religious beliefs, and the historical context we are talking about, they wouldn’t have “saw” the same thing. It just doesn’t work that way.

I have a gentle suggestion; if you are reading atheist websites please don’t. If you do, please do know that there are Answers to all these questions. You can trust the Lord; He is risen indeed. 😉
 
Faith, this is OCD type behavior and needs professional discussion, based on your posting history. You’ve grabbed on to this idea of a random posting on Facebook, and you want reassurance that it is not possible. But we cannot give you that because the voice in your head finds a way to skew answers, and in fact has already planted more doubt after people have given you an answer.

Please talk to your pastor or regular spiritual director about these persistent, intrusive thoughts you have about the veracity of the faith, they are not going to go away on their own. You are very easily influenced by things you read (except apparently for the things I post… 😉 ) or hear about on social media. You need a trusted advisor IRL who can help you calm the conspiracy theory churning in your head.

It’s no secret that I have OCD. My SD is no help as she is unfamiliar with some of the questions I ask. I could talk to my pastor, but what would I say?

My SD did tell me to stay off CAF since a lot of my religious worries start with posts here.

How do we know jesus rose and it wasn’t a mass hallucination?

I’d appreciate proof that 500 or even 12 wouldn’t be able to hallucinate the same thing at the same time.

I know it is hard, but please do listen to your SD. If there is something you are wanting to know more about, don’t try to go to the internet to find it. Talk to the people in your life that support your faith.

Your SD is not a psychologist, probably.
When you see the Pastor, you tell him you suffer from OCD and you’d like a referral to a good CATHOLIC psychologist. He should be able to get names form the Chancery offices for you.
In coming to CAF, you obtain a lot of correct answers for your worries, but if you don’t deal with the OCD, they won’t do you much good because of your many questions.
I suspect your SD doesn’t want to answer these questions because she realizes that they only upset and confuse you more. Or, she could be puzzled as to how you come up with some of these things. Tell her that reading the internet upsets you. Tell her that have SERIOUS doubts because of the questions. She herself should refer you to a medical professional. Her job is to help you in developing your spirituality, not as a reference book of sorts.
I hope you will seek appropriate avenues. I’d hate to see you leave CAF because there are a lot of really knowledgeable people here to converse with, and to pick their brains, But if you’re going to doubt every answer, then, yes; perhaps it’s time to speak in real life, and not on an anonymous board, and with a trusted person suggested by your Pastor.

I don’t think it is a matter of “avoiding belief in a real Jesus and that he rose from the dead”. It is more a matter of where do the facts and evidence lead. Was there a man named Yeshua alive around that time, sure that was a common name. Were the deeds reported only in the bible true, that is where the evidence doesn’t seem to be leading.

No, this does not happen.

Back in my late teens, I was going to Grateful Dead shows, and running with the wrong crowd, I did my fair share of LSD, mushrooms, etc. Ive never seen multiple people share the same ‘visions’, it just does not work that way, everyones mind is completely different.

So it’s impossible that the over 500 who saw the same thing could’ve been on hallucinogenics?
