. Remember when being a mason was cause for excommunication? not so in the revision.
I have taken a class specific in Canon Law in an academic setting. However I am NOT a canon Lawyer. Neither are you. Cetainly you understand that the Canon of trent is not abrogated by current Law do you? I am getting the impression that you have struggled greatly with Catholicism. Perhaps you have even left the faith. And for some reason somthing is under you skin to come to this forum and attempt (using the word attempt loosely) to stir the pot. I guess the real question is what is it that is causing you to come here and antagonize? Could it be a nagging conscience?

My priest and confessor is a canon lawyer. I am going to print your posts here and let him take a look at your “logic” and interpretation of “canon” law. It will make his day to exercise his canon lawyerness.

Thats great-I really would to like to know if Ive been excommunicated…

thecoach, your arguments are the worse I have seen on this thread. You back up nothing of what you say except for “use logic” and if it is not your logic then it is wrong. LilyM provided quotes and documents and all you do is say you are wrong and provide no evidence for your claims. Learn to back up your claims.
what did she provide? she completely misunderstood what I was referring to, then is looking for backup to finish what she started. The problem with your ilk is that logic is apparently foreign to them.

I trust you’re being serious with this, bob, since the possibility of excommunication, even if remote, isn’t a laughing matter.

Our friend thecoach would, I suspect, disagree with the Pope himself if HE told him that both calendars are equally valid and permissible, which they ARE at least for the time being 🤷 - since His Holiness’s logic doesn’t agree with thecoach’s own obviously superior brand.

Oh so coach is the one going to hell-well thats a relief!

even as a Catholic I would have every right to disagree with the pope unless it is a matte rof faith and morals, which are the only areas of infallibility, and even that is only ex cathedra. So get over yourself and your shallow understanding.

I dont get it.

You say we are not being logical. Yet we have shown that A leads to B leads to C etc. A train of arguments all connected pointing exactly to the way things are.

Here is a summation.

The Pope says both are good and both can be used.
The Pope practices it in private.
There is no church document banning the Old calender.
The new calender did not abrogate the old calender.

The entire body of Church teaching on this issue says both are fine and good, and can be used.

Both Calenders help with the edification of God.

You say it doesn’t make sense, because(as I understand what you have said, I will try not to commit the sin of presumption) two calenders cannot exist in agreement with one another. It is a destructive duplicity. That it is not logical for their to be two calenders.

However, the Eastern Rites and the Roman Rite have been on two different calenders for a long time and it seems to work just fine.

**In order for me to help understand your position I would certaily appreciate it if you could clairfy a few things for me(and everyone else here). I know there has been alot of anger/frustration in this post.

So estesbob and thecoach. Would you please answer the following question.

1)Are you okay with having both the tridintine and the novos ordos?Or do you believe we should only celebrate one?
2) Are you okay with the Eastern Rite churches (that exist within the Catholic church) following their own Calender?
3) Will you please lay out a brief overview of your position. You say that you are right if you look at it logically so would you please lay it out in a step by step way so we can understand your position better. **
If you would answer these questions or atleast just #3 then I think we all will be able to discuss this topic a little better.

I wish you posted earlier! However, I have wasted enough time here and generated too much negativity. I wish all peace and I will be moving on. Blessing to all, especially all I may have offended.

Circles and circles and circles and circles. Please tell me that I’m dreaming!

I’m forced to conclude that some people think we’re stuck in 1962 (I’m not old enough to be stuck in 1962), and for no other reason than by some obstinate prejudice are giving us flack for following the appropriate liturgical calendar.

Reason dictates that this discussion is absurd.

You know it really sounds like you’re entirely too gutless to give straight answers to simple questions when you’re pinned down.

God bless anyway, even though you haven’t actually apologised for your offensiveness. I cheerfully apologise for having offended you if I have done so.

Um… councils are also infaliable so if the Trent cannon is right then and if you are wrong in calling into question the calenders. Then you would be anathama.

I’m no cannon lawyer so I wont protend to be, but I do believe that Cannon is right placing you in a bad spot if you are wrong.

In the end we leave it up to God to judge where our souls go, but if I were you I would review your position and make sure that you were not excommunicating yourself.
