thank you for your candor jon. i do respect your faith. and there is much to tie Lutherans and Catholics together. we are only apart by a few degrees. i believe in the future( hopefully in our liftetime) we will see something akin to what is happening with the Anglican communion and the shift to rome. and yes there is much more to history than we have been using. and yes there is enough blame to go around. did not mean any disrespect, but these writings of his do make me wonder just what spirit he was opporating under. cannot judge todays lutherans by their founder. 🙂
Thanks, benidict. Of course, we say that Christ is our founder, just as He is yours, since our history goes back together to Pentecost. I share your hope and belief that our communions will again share the same altar and you and I will be able to share the sacrament in either of our churches.

that would deffinitly work for the good of all mankind.😃

… And, we all need to embrace a version of faith alone just like the Pope.
Let’s note forget context, from the document you are referring to:

“It is obvious that this interpretation is wrong: Christian freedom is not libertinism; the liberation of which St Paul spoke is not liberation from good works.”

“What he asks is only this: Did you visit me when I was sick? When I was in prison? Did you give me food to eat when I was hungry, did you clothe me when I was naked? And thus justice is decided in charity.”

Catholics and [some] Protestants really aren’t that far apart in our views on justification, but we must not say “faith alone” without an ‘IF’ qualifier.

‘IF’ is the biggest two-lettered word after all. 😉
