And remember, heteroseuxals never taje drugs :banghead:
The point of this article is that it’s predominantly gay men who practice this dangerous combination: taking a drug that significantly lessons inhibitions but increases impotence and then to counter that, taking Viagra to engage in reckless sex. The end product is an alarming increase in rates of STDs and HIV. Your sarcasm notwithstanding, the facts speak for themselves. I’d recommend two aspirin for that head.

Abstract:

Large-scale surveys show dramatic declines in religiosity in favor of secularization in the developed democracies. Popular acceptance of evolutionary science correlates negatively with levels of religiosity, and the United States is the only prosperous nation where the majority absolutely believes in a creator and evolutionary science is unpopular. Abundant data is available on rates of societal dysfunction and health in the first world. Cross-national comparisons of highly differing rates of religiosity and societal conditions form a mass epidemiological experiment that can be used to test whether high rates of belief in and worship of a creator are necessary for high levels of social health. Data correlations show that in almost all regards the highly secular democracies consistently enjoy low rates of societal dysfunction, while pro-religious and anti-evolution America performs poorly.

Tell modern day Europe that. I suggest you read The Cube and the Cathedral by George Weigel for how very unhealthy and dysfunctional a secularized Europe currently is.

I can understand your frustration. So you have a roommate, so what? You’re celibate. I don’t understand why anyone has a problem with that. I’ve noticed that many of the posters here, and I’m sure I’ve done it myself, in their/our quest to follow the law must be careful not to become modern day Pharisees. It is no good to be well acquainted with the letter of the law, but not the spirit. Jesus taught us to forgive, to have mercy and compassion, and to love one another.
Think it’s always a good idea to practice what one preaches. Can you imagine the frustration of going home to Catholic relatives who enjoy burnishing their souls with anti-homosexual platitudes while furiously defending their (federal felony fraud) convicted family member, divorced grandkids, and spouse beaters. If there was a Jesus in their faith, He’s long since gone. Hehehe. And the decline and fall of their lives is because of homosexuals… Right.

So let me get this, in your hypothetical, your response to someone having Jesus vacant in their faith is “Hehehe”? Sorry poster, who identifies in his Personal Profile “Used to be a catholic long time ago” and Religion=“none”, I don’t care that it is only a hypothetical, but there is no excuse for such a snide for any believer to make (you did not indicate being an athiest). Only the devil would snide that someone has lost Jesus in their faith.

Sorry, I wasn’t talking about you, Felra. I seem to hit a tender part. Perhaps you should bring this tenderness to confession. Healing is good for the soul.

You GO! girl!

Can you please explain these two quotes?

Can you please explain these two quotes?
“You GO girl” is a yell of encouragement traditionally used for women athletes.

“Sorry, I wasn’t talking about you, Felra. I seem to hit a tender part. Perhaps you should bring this tenderness to confession. Healing is good for the soul.”

means that I was not referring to you in one of my posts yet my words hit a tender spot of you. Hence the suggestion you bring this pain to confession for discussion and healing. Nothing posted in these forums should be off limits to bring to the confessional.

Hope this helps.

The New Paganism:
catholic.com/thisrock/1998/9812clas.asp

The Old Paganism had a strong sense of the supernatural. This sense was often turned to the wrong objects and always to insufficient objects, but it was keen and unfailing; all the poetry of the Old Paganism, even where it despairs, has this sense. And you may read in those of its writers who actively opposed religion, such as Lucretius, a fine religious sense of dignity and order. The New Paganism delights in superficiality, and conceives that it is rid of the evil as well as the good in what it believes to have been superstitions and illusions.

There it is quite wrong, and upon that note I will end. Men do not live long without gods; but when the gods of the New Paganism come they will not be merely insufficient, as were the gods of Greece, nor merely false; they will be evil. One might put it in a sentence, and say that the New Paganism, foolishly expecting satisfaction, will fall, before it knows where it is, into Satanism.

Hilaire Belloc (1870–1953), friend and mentor of G.K. Chesterton, was a journalist, essayist, debater, and historian. He wrote more than one hundred books. This prescient essay is taken from Essays of a Catholic (1931).

I’ve never been able to start a new thread in these forums so maybe someone can help me out. Just what jobs are safe for an adult male with same gender attraction? I have worked in retail most of my life but it seems you’re all saying that would be a bad idea since we know that the field is mostly filled with teens.

(I sure wish I knew how to start new threads.:o
