Yes and Paul McCartney really is dead and has been played by a doppleganger all of these years. That’s why Wings albums aren’t nearly as good as Beatles ones.

J.K Rowling majored in mythology in Exeter University in England.
‘Majored’? We don’t have that system here in the UK. She has a BA in French and Classics. Seems she didn’t turn up much for the ‘classics’ part of her degree so if anything she ‘majored’ in French. As for the rest of this… codswallop!

To me the Harry Potter books were just about a group of friends going to a really old school which was full of history. At the same time there was a great deal of upheaval in their society. It was a very good story. I read them and enjoyed them as well as the movies.

I can just imagine the Catholic school student among a group of non Catholic students for the first time saying “What’s Harry Potter?” or “Isn’t that series evil?” That wouldn’t productive for the oblivious student. You need to understand the world around you even if you don’t agree with it. That is one of the purposes of education.

My bad, for the word major - using the American vernacular . I read an out dated info, failed to see the update on her that she had failed to register correctly for her Classic’s exam. Though not saying that she didn’t take on board what she learnt attending classes.

I was having mare of a day yesterday! 🙃
Exeter Uni
A degree in Classics will bring together the study of a broad range of Humanities and Social Science topics focused around the Greek and Roman worlds. Central to the interdisciplinary programme will be your advanced training in Greek and Latin language, and the great literatures of the Greek and Roman world, such as Homer’s Odyssey, the dialogues of Plato. Mastering the written texts and sources from classical antiquity,

He holds to traditional believes. The occult influences in the Harry Potter books are high.

Oh well.

On a light note, I have officially my own personal ghost chip!

My problem is with the priest at a Catholic school who thinks the “spells” in the HP books are real.
Me too, especially since it’s been proven time and again that they are NOT REAL SPELLS!

The priest is charismatic and he likely believes that by playing with pretend witch craft you can possibly call up a spirit. And to be honest he’s probably right.

I wouldn’t stop reading Harry Potter myself over that, but I’m not sure that a Catholic school really needs to be promoting witchcraft, even in good fun, when it is simultaneously trying to teach kids not to dabble in the occult.

The bible says do not even put their words on your lips. Talking about the things of the world. Harry Potter is only one of way too many. We are inundated with things that are not good for our soul at all.

Just driving trough town, what do I see? Bill Boards promoting Vasectomy and Sex Stores. Watching TV? Oy Vey! no need to go there. Then we are bombarded with books that are not good for our soul either.

Anyone who says, I am free from this stuff, is blind. I know my self I am reading, looking and talking of things that are not good for me either.

We, and I am including my self, are inundated with things of this world and we defend the world.

Ah, that would be me. The one of the ‘triggers’ for the 2017 letter was no female altar servers. Fr. Reehill was definitely rowing against the current when he was placed in that parish. I guess the parishioners thought the Church was a democracy and the priest could be voted off the island.

As I’ve said, there are things he’s done that I don’t agree with - but I don’t attend that parish. The only encounters I’ve had with Fr. Reehill have been positive.

I agree with this. Ultimately it should be up to the parents to allow/disallow what their children read. Anytime this came up for us, we read the books together and then discussed, worked through the tricky subjects. I can remember my daughter coming home from school one day asking if it was okay if she read books about greek mythology (in this case the Percy Jackson series). We ended up reading them together, same with HP (although not assigned through school)

I hope we’re not reverting back to the inquisition where suspected witches were burnt at the stake for casting spells…🧙‍♀️
