And, here I was hoping it would be in the Indian Territory, an easy drive from the Arkansas. 🙂
It really isn’t too bad of a drive. You could hop on I-40 and take it all the way to Amarillo and be there by the evening. The scenery once you get on the winding road up to Red River and over Bobcat pass is amazing. They also have a cowboy dinner up at Bobcat pass. A bunch of ranchers up there, many of them from Texas, get together and cook steaks and play music. There is an old man there who will go through about about a half a dozen or so old instruments that you don’t really see anyone play anymore and plays a song on each one of them.

Getting out of this weather is worth the ride for one day as well.

Those of us who live in mountain towns are huddled down in our , homes waiting for the hordes to leave:). . Of course we know that the visitors are crucial to our economic well-being but that doesn’t make it any easier to fight Houston size traffic jams when trying to get to the store.

Very nice, bbarrick. There is an older photo towards the end that looked a bit like Gwyneth Paltrow.
Why thank you, I’ve had someone else tell me that as well.

That is my grandmother whose birthday is July 4th, she passed away just last year. The strapping young man next to her is her husband. I never met him as he passed away at a young age. He joined the Navy right after Pearl Harbor was bombed. He was on more than one ship that saw battle. He came back with a very serious case of shell shock. He was a big guy like me, and they say his brothers would have to hold him down sometimes. He thought he saw a torpedo in his front yard one day and had a heart attack. He has several medals including the Purple Heart.

LOL

I know what you mean.

My wife’s folks live in Florida. They feel the same way whenever winter rolls around.

To be honest it is quite enjoyable to watch the joy on the faces of the families as they vacation where I blessed to live.It always takes me back to when my mom and dad bought us here for a family vacation back in the early 60s.

Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod - the original packed-to-the-gills-with-summer-tourists resorts, thanks to their proximity to Boston and New York. 😃
