These graphs merely portray recorded natural disasters. As many happen in remote parts of the world, many of which did not have good reporting, ofcourse we will see an increase in reporting. That does not mean we are seeing an increase in actual events.
I did notice that the “people affected” graph does not seem to be keeping up with population growth. On the whole, a smaller percentage of world population seems to be affected by natural disasters.
And what criteria was used to determine what is a natural disaster? That is not made clear anywhere.
