he has been criticised for her use of religious symbolism, slammed for some of her song lyrics and had animal rights groups up in arms over her meat dress.

But Lady Gaga might have pushed her critics over the edge last night after she came on stage in Australia in a wheelchair.

The able-bodied star has caused outrage among disability groups after she wheeled herself on in front of 1,000 people at the Sydney Town Hall.

This isn’t new for her. She has already appeared in music videos in a wheelchair and using crutches to walk. Yeah, it’s a bit hard to stomach.
 
This wasn’t indecent though. I guess she hasn’t commented on the reason behind it (unless I overlooked it in the article), so we do not know what her intentions are. She was wearing a mermaid tail while being in the wheelchair. That’s an interesting combination and I’m curious about the artistic reasoning behind it.

People are too easily offended these days, it’s ridiculous.
 
The first thing I thought of was Bette Midler doing a similar routine years ago. See they mentioned that in the article. Of course, Midler did it before everything was politically correct.

I was thinking the same thing! These whipper-snappers don’t do anything original.😛
 
Once long ago when people were offensive and obnoxious we ignored them and did not feed their pathetic attempts to get attention by acting out eventually they went away. Now we discuss them ad nauseum on the internet, news, twitter etc… IGNORE her and she will go away.

That’s the thing, from what I’ve gathered it was not meant to ridicule. In the article it mentions handicapped people praising her for the video she made with her in a wheelchair.

The thing that bothers me, as an artist, are the people not considering the artistic value.
 
Her sales have been hurting. It’s a publicity stunt so people remember to buy her songs.

That doesn’t make this any more right though.

So what was her artistic intention to be in a wheelchair while wearing a mermaid tail?
