What the two of you are missing is that there is, by definition, more than one victim of a “hate crime”. Such crimes, though perpetrated against an individual, are in fact an assault upon a community. They put the entire group into a state of fear. Living in a bad neighborhood is one thing; living in a place where you will be singled out for particular malice due to some quality of your person, is something else.Originally Posted by LRThunder
Why should any group then get special protection against hate crimes? Why should blacks? Why should gays and lesbians?
Hate crimes do more damage to the community and so are deserving of distinction in prosecution and punishment.
