Would it be considered more vandalism if I went there with a red can of paint and made a squiggly line beneath “cathlic”?

This is sad. We should all pray for the vandal.
On the other hand…this is made even sadder by the fact that the vandal spelled “Catholic” wrong on a building that no doubt had a sign reading “St. Boniface CATHOLIC Church” posted very prominently on the front of it…

Personally, I take solace in the fact that this was an act perpetrated by an idiot. Clearly the vandal is worthy of our pity and intervention by St. Jude.

The tagger definitely didn’t have a Catholic School education with that atrocious spelling. My guess goes to bored teenager with a can of paint and too much time on his hands.

A Catholic first grader could probably spell it right

I hope and pray that the person who did this hateful act would turn to God. Who knows what caused him to do such a thing. Maybe he was on drugs or something? Regardless, I do hope and pray for his conversion.

Am I the only one who wants a stereotypical Irish cop to come up and correct the guy’s spelling, and make him write it over, a la Monty Python’s Life of Brian?

[Brian is writing graffiti on the palace wall. The Centurion catches him in the act]
Centurion: What’s this, then? “Romanes eunt domus”? People called Romanes, they go, the house?
Brian: It says, "Romans go home. "
Centurion: No it doesn’t ! What’s the latin for “Roman”? Come on, come on !
Brian: Er, “Romanus” !
Centurion: Vocative plural of “Romanus” is?
Brian: Er, er, “Romani” !
Centurion: [Writes “Romani” over Brian’s graffiti] “Eunt”? What is “eunt”? Conjugate the verb, “to go” !
Brian: Er, “Ire”. Er, “eo”, “is”, “it”, “imus”, “itis”, “eunt”.
Centurion: So, “eunt” is…?
Brian: Third person plural present indicative, “they go”.
Centurion: But, “Romans, go home” is an order. So you must use…?
[He twists Brian’s ear]
Brian: Aaagh ! The imperative !
Centurion: Which is…?
Brian: Aaaagh ! Er, er, “i” !
Centurion: How many Romans?
Brian: Aaaaagh ! Plural, plural, er, “ite” !
Centurion: [Writes “ite”] “Domus”? Nominative? “Go home” is motion towards, isn’t it?
Brian: Dative !
[the Centurion holds a sword to his throat]
Brian: Aaagh ! Not the dative, not the dative ! Er, er, accusative, “Domum” !
Centurion: But “Domus” takes the locative, which is…?
Brian: Er, “Domum” !
Centurion: [Writes “Domum”] Understand? Now, write it out a hundred times.
Brian: Yes sir. Thank you, sir. Hail Caesar, sir.
Centurion: Hail Caesar ! And if it’s not done by sunrise, I’ll cut your balls off.

This happened in a city close to Seattle. The teenagers wrote horrible messages on the local Jewish high school and vandalized the Friends of the Needy van, Mary statue, Crucifix, and the side of the church. Very sad that it happened. Do you know what is worse? The Catholic church vandalism didn’t get mentioned at first in the news story. In the story below only the van was mentioned. Then a few days later the reporters interviewed someone from St. Monica church and that person mentioned the statues. Why is it okay to vandalize or attack the church without the secular media taking note? If I didn’t check other sources, for example, I would of never seen that Catholics were murdered during a Mass in the Middle East (Iraq, I think). It goes on all the time (China anyone?) and the media is silent. Very sad.

On a lighter side, I teach first graders and their bonus word was Catholic. Most got it right!

Kill the Cathlics!?

Meeps.

Thankfully you Catholics are save. You’ve already earned your Os.

Out of sheer curiosity, what were the mistakes? Did some spell it with a K, or something like that? 🙂
