Have you ever been verbally attacked at Mass?

I understand your position. Where would be the better time and place for it then?
Christ has just been made present to us on the altar. What were Jesus’s words when He made Himself present to the group? Peace be with you…

There are a few places where the Kiss of Peace might fit in better. Say, after the creed.

Does anyone know why the Church put the Kiss of peace where they did?

I don’t know the history of the Kiss of Peace (i do know it has been around for a long time in it’s current placement) but I do know that other rites in the Church put it after the Liturgy of the Word.

I just stand with my hands folded and look prayerful. At most I’ll give a gesture.

I’ll pass on the clammy and germ laden hands. Preferably, I’ll keep 10ft. between me and everyone. Lest they come near my curmudgeonliness😠

Yes, and it’s a public, communal sharing of a meal. This is heaven… it’s what the Eucharist is!

No.

It’s not the “public, communal sharing of a meal.”

It’s the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to His Father for the propitiation of our sins.

And that’s the problem. People wants to tell others what is the proper way to share the sign of peace. If people don’t like shaking hands at the sign of peace, they should not have to. I disagree it’s unfortunate if a person does not shake hands. There is no prescribed gesture of peace - handshakes are not required. Peace be with you.🙂

I do – if indeed that’s the custom where one attends Mass. In some cultures it could be bowing, or placing one’s hand over one’s heart and making eye contact, or a fist bump or whatever. If I person cannot joyfully engage in that, I do find it unfortunate – for them.

It cannot be presumed that everyone should want to shake hands. There are many valid reasons why a person would not want to touch another in a given situation, including the sign of peace. I also think it is unfortunate that the sign of peace is done after the consecration. It takes the attention off of Jesus at the altar.
