Have you ever felt a Demonic Presence

I’m a skeptic. My faith in “God with us” is too strong to believe in what I will call nonsense. Anyone who does have such experiences should seek mental, physical and spiritual help.
Evil is not nonesense. In the Gospels Jesus expells deamons. Some want to say these were metal illnesses, as a cleric I do believe in the existance of Evil.

To answer the OP question, yes I have. I felt it during my formation, the closer I got to ordionation the stronger it got. I gave myself fully to Christ, emtied myself to him the evil left.
Since ordained I have seen evil, I work in in Juvenile. A young man I prayed with was deeply trouble, angry and lost. When I left him I felt the evil that had been in him, in me. A deep sense of loss, and sadness. I went to my church and prayed in front of the blessed sacrament and the evil left.

Just wondering if it is common to “feel” the presence of the devil.

A priest once told our church he had felt the presence of the devil and he ran to get
holy water.

He never said he SAW the devil.

I wonder sometimes if anyone actually sees or feels the devil?
In these trying times, I wonder if people are hearing or feeling him/it more?

(i have not by the way) or not that I have been aware of.
It doesn’t happen like the movies or television portray it. That’s ussually where most people get their ideas about feeling evil presences.

Here is a description of what an actual demonic presence should “feel” like:
From An Exorcist Tells His story by Fr. Gabriele Amorth
“The presence of evil is manifested by physical discomfort; insomnia, headaches, or stomach aches; or a general malaise that happens in that particular place and nowhere else.”

I don’t plan on it but if it happens I hope I have enough sense to seek help. God is bigger than all this nonsense of demons. Its very imature theology to believe this. The evil that exists in this world is caused by humans…US…God gave us the free will to reject him.

However I should say that I have felt God’s presence in my life many times. If you can’t feel God in your life, your faith isn’t what it should be. Also, if you do feel God’s loving presence, you won’t be feeling any demons around.
If it is immature theology to believe in demons and demons are nonsense, then tell me why Christ had to come and die. I wonder what he cast out in his deeds in the Bible? If there are no demons, then why did Christ have to come at all and what did he cast out of people in his works? If there is no devil that tempts us to sin, no evil, , then Christ had to die for what?

Evil is generally very quiet and invisible, well hidden within people through camouglage, working away to deadening our consciences.

As written, you’re denied the existance of Evil and then accepted Evil as a “him”.

Yes, I have had many encounters. The one I spoke of above in this thread was a couple of days after I went on a case of oppression of a teenage girl. The doctors could not help her after four years, so her mother turned to the Church. As far as we know now, she is doing well, her mother has not contacted us again. This spiritual realm of the demonic is very real, but so many try to deny what Christ spoke about very plainly.
You have remained in daily prayer for strength against evil. Amen.

Jesus believed in demons… I suppose he should have sought medical assistance too eh? 🤷

The “him” I referred to should have been "“Him”…Actually, let me rephrase that because God should not be defined as male or female…We were given free will to accept God or reject God.

One thing I’d be checked for is seizure activity, there are many kinds of seizures.

I don’t disbelieve the presence of demons of course, One needs to wonder about mental conditions and that which are hard to diagnose that they may be caused by demons , there are many strange happenings which can’t be explained.

If its a gift , I don’t want it.

The demons written about in scripture and cast out by Jesus are metaphors for medical conditions not any kind of supernatural creature.

My heavens. They are not metaphors. The demons in the demoniac spoke to Jesus.

Demons knew who Jesus was, prior to any other human realizing His nature.

“Come out of him, you you metaphors.” 😊

How exactly did Jesus cast mental illness from a man into a herd of pigs? How does that work?

The Catholic Church disagrees with you. Demons exist, and so does the devil, and they do intervene in worldly activities. Not all bad things are caused by them, but to discount their doings wholesale is simply wrong. It’s very immature theology to believe otherwise. To deny their existence is to deny the teachings of the Church. If demons don’t exist, and if they don’t possess people, then do tell me why the Church has always and continues to exercise the ministry of exorcism, something set out in Canon Law.

I don’t know why you think this. If someone told you this, they are either very misguided or are a liar.

Yes, many times I have been pulled out of sound asleep at around 3AM to feel or see a demonic presence. The last time, the thing was actually pulling my arm away from my body and upward. I was laying on my right side. I tried to speak the word of Jesus but I could not get His name out of my mouth, prevented from doing this. I could only think to say Jesus, please help me. The thing left.
Holy smokes, this is horrifying!!

The authors of scripture wrote in their literal sense which had meaning to people of their time. Today we interpret Their literal meaning according to the time we live in. Even Pope Benedict does not approach scripture as a literalist.

Have you read what Pope Benedict wrote in the Catechism or in the Compendium on the subject of Evil?

I guess the Archangel Michael didn’t really fight any battles either.
Heck, Adam and Eve… mentally ill? Ok, God then, surely when he was telling Satan that he was going to put emnity between the woman’s seed and his (Satan’s)? What metophore would that be then, exactly?

I was laying in the hospital with stage 4 lymphoma, and the paitent next to me was dying. I look out of the corner of my eye and watch Death move by my door. I have never been so terrified in my life. It took me a minute to make my mouth work i was so alarmed…I said Jesus, i am so scared, come and be with me. and He did. The Holy Spirit became visible to my eyes as a mist. and the other time when i was sick, before i went into the hospital, and there were demonic shapes stacking chairs in my room and my mom heard me say, My God all of you get out of my room. You may say it was the sick talking, but i believe and know better. Saint Michael, Defend us.
