Have you ever felt a Demonic Presence

The authors of scripture wrote in their literal sense which had meaning to people of their time. Today we interpret Their literal meaning according to the time we live in. Even Pope Benedict does not approach scripture as a literalist.
Some parts of Scripture were written allergorically, some literally, some historically, some poetically. We do not decide which passages are to be taken literally and which aren’t, the Church decides that and the Church has decided demons are real. That’s why exorcists really exist.

Well, believe what falsities you wish. I shall pray for your conversion. The demons revel in humans’ disbelief towards them.

I suffer from sleep paralysis quite often (3-4 times per week sometimes). While usually it is just an annoyance with no hallucinations, every once in awhile it is horrifying. I know it is a medical condition, I have seen doctors about it. But I do wonder sometimes if a demon can exploit the medical condition to oppress you?

The things I have seen, heard, and felt during two occasions of sleep paralysis could be straight out of horror movies. Was it just a hallucination? I hope!

But other than that the only time I have ever felt something possibly demonic was at a concert. Me and two other friends over heard a guy praising “the Dark Lord of the Universe” or something like that. There was a really creepy presence about him…

I have had sleep paralysis twice in my life. Conveniently, they were both as I was converting.

haha! Satanists are scary. My guardian angel PHYSICALLY pushed me away from a Satanist once… You want to feel an evil presence? Just meet one of those guys (and I mean the ones who genuinely believe it, not the ones who pretend to seem cool and edgy).

I haven’t experienced this, personally, but I do get random twitches every now and then… not nearly as terrifying but still weird. 😉

From Angels and Demons: What we really know about them by Peter Kreeft
"But the existence of demons is de fide, defined dogma. The Fourth Lateran Council declared that “Satan and the other devils are (1) by nature spirits… (2) created by God, (3) and so originally good, (4) but fell into sin (5) of their own free will” and that they are (6) “eternally damned”. The new Catechism repeats this (391-95).
II. THE FALL OF THE ANGELS
391 Behind the disobedient choice of our first parents lurks a seductive voice, opposed to God, which makes them fall into death out of envy.266 Scripture and the Church’s Tradition see in this being a fallen angel, called “Satan” or the “devil”.267 The Church teaches that Satan was at first a good angel, made by God: "The devil and the other demons were indeed created naturally good by God, but they became evil by their own doing."268
392 Scripture speaks of a sin of these angels.269 This “fall” consists in the free choice of these created spirits, who radically and irrevocably rejected God and his reign. We find a reflection of that rebellion in the tempter’s words to our first parents: "You will be like God."270 The devil “has sinned from the beginning”; he is “a liar and the father of lies”.271
393 It is the irrevocable character of their choice, and not a defect in the infinite divine mercy, that makes the angels’ sin unforgivable. "There is no repentance for the angels after their fall, just as there is no repentance for men after death."272
394 Scripture witnesses to the disastrous influence of the one Jesus calls “a murderer from the beginning”, who would even try to divert Jesus from the mission received from his Father.273 "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil."274 In its consequences the gravest of these works was the mendacious seduction that led man to disobey God.
395 The power of Satan is, nonetheless, not infinite. He is only a creature, powerful from the fact that he is pure spirit, but still a creature. He cannot prevent the building up of God’s reign. Although Satan may act in the world out of hatred for God and his kingdom in Christ Jesus, and although his action may cause grave injuries - of a spiritual nature and, indirectly, even of a physical nature - to each man and to society, the action is permitted by divine providence which with strength and gentleness guides human and cosmic history. It is a great mystery that providence should permit diabolical activity, but "we know that in everything God works for good with those who love him."275

Catechism of the Catholic Church
1673 When the Church asks publicly and authoritatively in the name of Jesus Christ that a person or object be protected against the power of the Evil One and withdrawn from his dominion, it is called exorcism.
Jesus performed exorcisms and from him the Church has received the power and office of exorcizing.178
In a simple form, exorcism is performed at the celebration of Baptism.
The solemn exorcism, called “a major exorcism,” can be performed only by a priest and with the permission of the bishop. The priest must proceed with prudence, strictly observing the rules established by the Church.
**
Exorcism is directed at the expulsion of demons or to the liberation from demonic possession through the spiritual authority which Jesus entrusted to his Church.
Illness, especially psychological illness, is a very different matter; treating this is the concern of medical science.
Therefore, before an exorcism is performed, it is important to ascertain that one is dealing with the presence of the Evil One, and not an illness.179 **
Anna Claire,

I’ve laid down my cards 🙂

I’m willing to see what you have which shows that Pope Benedict doesn’t believe in the actual existance of demons.

I’ve seen and felt often, although feeling is by far more common for me, a daily occurrence, I’ve seen quite a lot of times.

It’s freaky. You don’t want it. It’s definitely a gift, but you don’t want to see or feel the demonic.

I was laying in the hospital with stage 4 lymphoma, and the paitent next to me was dying. I look out of the corner of my eye and watch Death move by my door. I have never been so terrified in my life. It took me a minute to make my mouth work i was so alarmed…I said Jesus, i am so scared, come and be with me. and He did. The Holy Spirit became visible to my eyes as a mist. and the other time when i was sick, before i went into the hospital, and there were demonic shapes stacking chairs in my room and my mom heard me say, My God all of you get out of my room. You may say it was the sick talking, but i believe and know better. Saint Michael, Defend us.
This stuff scares the poop out of me.

I’m scared! 😦

I’m a skeptic. My faith in “God with us” is too strong to believe in what I will call nonsense. Anyone who does have such experiences should seek mental, physical and spiritual help.
This is NOT ‘nonsense’ seek ‘Spiritual help’ yes…

The Bible gives numerous examples of people possessed or influenced by demons…

As a teenager ( 1970’s) on a number of occasions I experienced the Heavy weight of an Evil awfully dark oppressive, incidious presence… I couldn’t move, open my eyes or lips to shout, Instead I would ‘pray in my mind’ and after about 3 or 4 Hail Mary’s it would go…
The same thing happened to my sister…

Many years earlier early 60’s my father was on manouevers in Germany and a horrible oppressive Ghoulish ‘thing’ visited him… he felt a heavy weight on his chest and couldn’t get up… He did manage however to get his rifle from under his camp bed and as this ‘thing’ got up and moved to the tent door My dad shot it…(had some explaining to do in camp for that one) !! lol . It bowed and seemed to ‘disappear’ The next day he got a telegram to say his Father* ( who, from what I understand had not been a good man) *had died that night…

On the flip side I have also had a feeling of incredible love and peace at that moment I ‘remembered’ a Franciscan Priest’ who *(sad to say I hadn’t thought about in years) * years earlier had been one of the Priests at my Church/School… I felt a ‘knowing’ that he had passed away. The following day my mother said to me… ‘Oh you never guessed what I heard today, you probably don’t even remember him but’… I finished her sentence… ‘Fr Romhauld passed away last night’ She asked who told me… I simply responded with ‘He did’ I know off topic but It’s good for me to remember the good Presences too 🙂

Thankfully, Benedict XVI believes in the existence and danger of evil - going back to the time he was in charge of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith." The CDF is the oldest Vatican department and was headed by Benedict from 1982, when he was Cardinal Ratzinger, until he became Pope in 2005.

May I suggest the following …
dailymail.co.uk/news/article-504969/Popes-exorcist-squads-wage-war-Satan.html

There is overwhelming evidence of attempted Possessions and Oppressions… After some very real experiences… NO, NOT IN MY MIND AND I DON’T NEED A SHRINK… I have come to the realization that I have to add my voice, speak out and hopefully educate enough so that people will seek truth… and more importantly follow their ‘intuition’ 'guardian Angels, Through the Holy Spirit, to recognize dangers and attempted oppression…

Be a light. There are so many people who have experiences who are scared into silence because they’re afraid they’ll be labelled crazy. It’s good to have people out there who understand and who are spreading truth so these people don’t have to be dismissed or live in fear alone. 👍

I have had a biological family member fall out of the sky Via facebook on me and he is a satanist. really truly worship satan. He frightens me a bit.

I can understand why you would be skeptical but if you can so easily believe in God and His real presence in our daily lives it would be a grave error (in my honest opinion) to think that Satan isn’t just as likely to find his way to you. Satan is the last creature you want to turn your back on. I certainly wouldn’t condone living your life fearing him as we have God and His army of Saints and Angels to protect us, but that said, it’d be foolish to walk through this world with our guard completely down against the machinations of evil. The Vatican clearly expresses how real exorcisms are and how necessary it is for every Diocese (ideally) to have a fully certified/trained exorcist to combat demonic influence in every Diocese.

That said I think the majority of sin is brought about by our own weakness. It’s a far cry to assume like many evangelicals do, that every sin we commit is because of Satan. Lucifer is working against us with all his might, and he is very powerful to be sure (God’s strongest angel after all). That said, I feel that our biggest enemy is ourselves. Through God’s grace if we can master ourselves, we can master Lucifer and his hold over us will be broken. Just a thought I wanted to share. Thanks for reading and God Bless!

Excellent well thought out post… 👍

:bigyikes: I don’t know if it was just my imagination or not, but I have never forgotten this experience: My car broke down one night. It was very dark where I was, but up ahead there were lights & possibly a pay phone, so I decided to walk (this was years ago- no cell phone!). When I was some distance from my car & still in a very dark area, I was suddenly enveloped with an overwhelming sense of evil nearby- I can’t even describe how real it felt. I froze, then ran back to my car- I was convinced that something or someone horrible had been close to me. I had never felt anything like that before & I haven’t ever felt it again. I can’t help feeling that it was either a demon or a demon-possessed person near me (a serial killer?). Guess there’s no way of knowing, but I hope I never experience that again!

Did you end up getting out of your car again to call someone to pick you up??

GoldenLight, your stories of things happening as someone died made me think of a bizarre experience that happened to me this past year.

I had a very awful dream much unlike any other dreams I have ever had. I will briefly describe it in small font in my next paragraph…anyone who would rather not read the details, feel free to skip it.

I was lying in bed and there were worms coming out of my nose. That soon ended and I was standing with a few others around a tree where a very large black dog was hanging and it was dead. We took off our coats and used them to cover up the dog. Then we were waiting there for it to be taken away.

I woke up and remembered it vividly. The strange thing is that I felt calm and peaceful. I am usually pretty faint-hearted, so I am still surprised that I was not upset or scared. I told my husband the details of the dream and he said it sounded satanic.

Now for the really odd thing. Shortly after this, I found out that a relative had passed away that night. It was during the same portion of the night as when I had that dream.

Now I did not say that…I don’t know what he believes about demons. I was referring to believing literally what the bible says instead of interpreting the meaning.
