Have you ever walked out on a movie?

Nope. I"ve never walked out of a movie but I am very picky when it comes to going to the theater so when I do go it usually is a pretty good movie.

I just don’t go that often.

Gag, what an awful movie. What the heck is romantic about adultery? And what is great about adult children reading a novel sized diary written by their mother after her death about how she was unfaithful to their father. The fact that so many people gushed about how romantic it was just makes me detest it even more. I should have shut it off but unfortunately I did not.

You know, I liked that movie, just from the acting points of view…Meryl and Clint were very good, IMO. But, the adultery…yeah, it seemed like the author of the book wanted to make it look like it was something we all should allow happen in our lives, or something. But, the acting moved me…

The reminds me of the King Arthur movie (First Knight) with Sean Connery. I went w/ my wife and her friend and afterwards her friend was gushing about poor Guinevere and I reached a breaking point and said - you’ve got to be kidding? She committed adultery! She’s not the victim!

I never saw it for just the reasons you mentioned. I remember how every media outlet was pumping that movie and the book. I figured it might be good–thinking it was a touching romance story—(sort of like the (later) “The Notebook” w/James Garner). When I found out what it was about I refused to read it or see it.

“Dumb & Dumber” I walked across the lobby after 12 minutes into “Shawshank Redemption”.

I definately traded up.

There was another movie that was not memorable that was a sci-fi flick that was so over-the-top and ridiculous, I walked out and just went home. 15 minutes of my life had already been wasted, I figured it was time to go read a book.

Was it Solaris with George Clooney? That’s another one that I didn’t turn off because I kept hoping it would get better, but I wish I had!

I turned off the TV after watching Passion of the Christ halfway through. That movie is horrible. Then I got my Jesus of Nazareth DVDs and watched them instead.

I love March of the Penguins, because nature is a reflection of the glory of God. Plus, the movie challenges me to be patient.

…or rented a movie and shut it off only after about 20 minutes of trying to see if it would improve? We have! lol I thought I’d start a thread to hear of those movies that you thought were so horrible or boring, that you just couldn’t sit through it. It will be interesting if I happened to love those movies, however.

Here are a few of mine:

1)Three Can Play That Game (LOVED Two Can Play that Game but this one was terrible…the main character was trying to be passed off as 28, and she is in her 40’s…in addition to poor humor, and trying to force something, it stunk)

1. Little Children–way weird!
2. March of the Penguins–yes, it was good from a ‘I now know a lot about penguins’ stand point, but boring…I fell asleep…I think I was too tired to get up to shut it off…lol
3. Anchorman–just not well done

I’ll have to think of some more!

We walked out on Super-Hero Movie. It was absolutly vulgar had too much bad lanuage adn was very sexualy orieted.

I had never seen a James Bond film and don’t get into all that male fantasy, being a lady brought up with quite different sensibilities. Anyway, I was at a family get together and everyone wanted to go see Die Another Day. Everyone was enraptured except for me. I sat there and laughed, thinking it was meant to be camp, then I realized I was the only laughing. I wish I could have gotten up and walked out, but I had no where to go.

We’ve also rented a few films and watched only a few minutes before getting bored or finding it too violent. The 2nd Mission Impossible film was majorly boring–a couple of people ogling each other while racing along mountain roads isn’t my cup of tea. And the Rock’s movie Doom, based on a computer game, was just plain nasty.

There isn’t much that gets us into a movie theater these days. Certainly none of the Oscar winners of the last few years except Lord of the Rings. It’s like someone decided to empty all our sewers onto the screen and call it art. Blech!

I do not like James Bond either, but for different reasons. I just think that all the gadgets and devices are too insane for my tastes, and this Bond character should be in his fifties or sixties by now. geez

Little Miss Sunshine - I thought it would be good because Steve Carell was in it. I thought very wrong! Any movie that climaxes with a scence of a little girl doing a strip tease has got serious problems!

Never watched that movie, but I heard about that scene. Hearing about it kept me away from that movie forever.

I’ve remembered a few baaaad movies I *should *have walked out on.

One was “Excalibur.” I saw it with my SCA friend; both of us knew something about medieval times. The very idea of Guinevere doing a belly dance on the table for all the knights - pah! turns out we stayed because each of us thought the other one wanted to.

Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood - blech. (The “Merry Men” as Ewoks living in trees - gimme a break!) DH rented it and made me watch it so I would get all the jokes in Men in Tights, which I love. I was able to fill him in on the jokes based on the Richard Greene series, the Errol Flynn movie, and the original legends. I didn’t have to make him watch the series, or read all my R. H. books - why did he make me sit through that dreck? (I did make him watch Errol Flynn, though.)

Many years ago, I had a good friend with whom I went to alot of dollar movies. We both had friends who wouldn’t go to movies with us, because when something struck us funny, we’d howl with laughter - even if it was supposed to be a solemn scene. Together, it was a lot worse, because we’d make comments to each other, and just hoot!

We went to a double feature of “Breaking Away,” an excellent movie, with some movie whose title I can’t remember. It starred Tim Matheson, and was supposed to be the “Rocky” of pro bowling. Unfortunately, we had to sit through it before they showed Breaking Away.

Well, we started in with the comments. We fed on each other, and got to hooting. After a while, we realized that the people around us were waiting to hear what we said, so we got a little louder. A while after that, more people joined the “listening silence”… We had a really good time, and I hope our listeners did, too. A lot of them were laughing with us. It was a really awful movie.

Urgh. I fell asleep 10 minutes in and had to be woken up at the end. Fortunately we rented it to watch at home so I could at least nap on the sofa.

I fell asleep halfway through both “Sin City” and “Hellboy”. We rarely go to the movies now because most of it is either dumb or boring, and it’s not worth the $10/ticket so that I can have an air-conditioned nap in an uncomfortable seat.

I watched most of The Exorcism of Emily Rose with my hands over my eyes and got up and walked to the back of the theater twice … but I’m glad I didn’t leave, it ended up having a very faithful Catholic ending in my opinion.

Just wanted to give a head’s up to everyone that’s posted here - sounds like you should stay FAR FAR AWAY from Tropic Thunder and Zack and Miri Make a Porno, as pretty much every scene had something really offensive. I, of course, wet my pants laughing at both. (Sorry. I like most of the movies you all hated).
