One summer in the early 60’s my female cousin and I were madly in love with Paul Newman so any movie he was in was a “must see”. I drove us to the drive-in theater one rainy summer night to see “The Hustler”. We came back from the refreshment stand and I reached over to adjust the speaker box we had attached to the window when…lightning struck and the car lit up. I quickly threw the speaker out the window because we had both been shocked and as soon as we realized we were alive and unharmed we left the drive-in. Forty years later I noticed “The Hustler” was playing on the movie channel so I got my popcorn ready and prepared myself for a wonderful evening to see the movie I had left behind. After 15 minutes of torture I had to turn it off. Even handsome Paul Newman wasn’t enough to hold my interest.
