The only time I remember walking out of a movie theater was when my late husband and I went to see “Earthquake”…yep, a long time ago. That was because they had done something with the speakers so you’d ‘feel’ the quaking. I have a bad back, and it just hurt so bad I had to leave.
But I’ve turned off many movies at home, or walked out of the room if others were watching. One was “Scarface” with Al Pacino. The language and violence were just over the top. And “Michael” with John Travolta. I have seen enough of bits and pieces of that movie to know what it’s about, but Travolta’s portrayal of a slovenly angel was way too disgusting for me.

The version starring Jeremy Irons? Although the plot is disturbing I really liked that version–there was something poetic about it. But, I can see why someone would walk out on it.
I almost shut off The Mist tonight–it had such good acting and good plot…and suspense! But oh my…those puppet looking ‘creatures’…are they for real with that? I would have felt ripped off if I was Stephen King!

Scarface…I don’t think I have ever sat through that whole movie…plus, I just don’t like old mafia type flicks. I agree, over the top violence. I also did not like Michael. I saw it in the theater, but it was actually boring, if you ask me. lol

I remember those speakers. It was one of the first uses of Surround Sound, which was a cool new technology then! Basically each theater put huge speakers in the back and front of the auditorium. Also before multi-plexs if memory serves. I think after Surround Sound came dolby and they didn’t need the big speakers anymore. How far we have come! I remember going to see A Bridge Too Far with either Surround Sound or Dolby and thinking the sound was so good each time a bridge was blown up.

I remembered it as a harmless bit of 80s fluff, but in those five minutes, we had naked fornication, identity theft, theft of ideas, an employer using an assistant as slave labor, drug-taking, drunken-ness, theft of goods and services, the actress shoving her rump and rack in the camera lens, and the line which made me cringe even back then: “I have a head for business and a bod for sin. Anything wrong with that?”

We must have been watching tv around the same time last night.Well, last night I turned off ‘Working Girl,’ after about five minutes. I know it was a satire, but after watching about 1 min of Scary Movie…we walked out…it was horrible.

Of course not! My wife and I went to see one movie while she was pregnant and that was Stardust. It was the only thing that looked like it was actually worth the price of admission. It was! Except for the part about how Tristan’s mother and father met.
As for the aforementioned bit about The Robe, I always felt that way about Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade in some spots: Dr. Jones Sr. sleeps with the Nazi spy and then later slaps his son for blasphemy. Sex always seems to be the one sin that gets glossed over.

My friend and I walked out of the theater about 1/4 through Jurassic Park 3. It was just that lame…
My SIL and I also had to turn off “Becoming Jane” recently. I’m not the biggest fan of Jane Austen to begin with (although I did like Emma) and the movie was just boring.
My DH and his friends seem to love the genre of ‘ridiculously bad horror/action flicks’ (Resident Evil, Silent Hill, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Die Harder with twice the vengeance etc) I used to attempt to watch the movies with them but I’d almost always end up walking out when the birds started picking apart someone’s eyeballs or whatever. These days I usually head to the bedroom to curl up with a good book when movie night comes around.

It was a horrible movie. We were on a bus and the percussion line wanted to watch it. The rest of the band kids gave in. After the first scene which is two underage kids having sex the movie was thankful turned off!!!

I never saw it, but I remember the hoopla surrounding it when it came out. My wife and I watched Juno on PPV last night and that was actually a very good movie. I don’t agree with the way that they treated everything regarding the subject matter in the film, but I love the fact that the main character actually got talked out of an abortion by the lone, awkward protestor-friend outside the the women’s clinic. It was pretty touching.

I guess that it was 2 or 3 that I saw and I almost walked out because it was really bad and the AC in the theater was broken. I had to go to work in a store at the mall after the movie went off, but I stuck it out (My Mom and her BF were there; I worked at his store which stayed open until about midnight) and when we were leaving the theater an usher was handing out passes for a free movie due to the broken AC (Georgia Summers are HOT!!!). I got off of work and went to check out a free movie. I saw The Fifth Element. I felt ripped-off twice in one day. Although technically I guess that it was already the next day.

She did 3 movies that we rented. I think one was ‘The Good Girl’, and another of her’s is “Friends w/ Money” and then there was “The Breakup.” ALL 3 were awful!!
DH watched them w/ me and we were so ticked that we sat thru them and wasted that few hours of our lives. Why did we watch the whole entire movies? Because we were ‘waiting’ for them to get better, although they never did. **

Nice to see you–hope you’re doing well.I have never seen any of those movies…I have only heard of The Breakup, actually. I love Jennifer Aniston…seems like a sweet person, but those movies just looked dull…or something…not sure. Was the acting bad? Moral issues? I think in most movies these days, someone is always having sex with someone he/she is not married to…
I have seen the coming attractions of Sex & The City’s debut, and although, I admit (or confess?) that I watched a few episodes many moons ago…I couldn’t see at this stage of our spiritual life, going to see that. Not just that, but those women are getting a bit old to be ‘clubbin.’ lol Sorry, just looks like they should put that one to bed…no pun!
I rented Alien vs Predator recently…um…er…a wee bit violent, to the point I literally fell asleep is was sooooo much. And a child was killed? I just don’t get all this violence. Guess I thought it was going to be more like Predator, which was really a thriller type movie. Live and learn!

aw, I know what you’re saying. Unless someone is shot, in warfare or some bizarre mafia movie, within the first five minutes, my dh doesn’t want to see it. lol I have watched many a chick flick by myself, although he is compromising more…he says he doesn’t like to see me cry. I tell him…that’s when I know it’s a really good movie, then. He always looks confused with that answer.
Except with Rudy…he cried a little on that. Shhh…don’t tell anyone.

I would feel too embarrassed to ask for a ticket to see Sex and the City! It would feel like I was going to see an “adult” film.
