Have you ever walked out on a movie?

LOL–OOOOHHH…I didn’t get what you meant when you posted…‘bark bags.’ I assumed you meant barf bags, and I still didn’t get it. lol! Yes, the camera is quite jumpy, but that is what makes it so believable, and also that one uses his/her imagination when viewing the film, and what you conjure up in your own mind is often scarier than what a director can think up.:o

The other issue for me on believability was the woods of Maryland. My brother lives about 15 miles from where it took place. Walk 15-20 minutes in any direction and you are out of the woods.
 
Borat. Only watched about 4 minutes of this movie. Rude and stupid beyond words.

I also haven’t been able to watch any of the Lord of the Rings Movies all the way through. I just don’t get it. 🤷 My son said I’m seriously going to flamed for admitting that. Sorry all you LOTR lovers.

You didn’t miss anything. Except for the bear. The bear was hilarious. But other than the bear, it was the worst movie ever made. I am including the movie I made myself, when I was five. The movie I made with my Dad’s Super 8 camera when I was five, was better than “Borat.” (It had the virtue of being short, and not containing any profanity.)

I liked them, but I also enjoyed the books. If you found the books to be tedious, then the movies would be even more tedious, I think. To each his own, of course! 🙂

I think it took place in Canada, where it was filmed…wasn’t it filmed there? But, the story took place in Maryland…interesting. Well, it’s just a movie. 😃

You know, I wasn’t going to watch Borat…dh and I gave it a whirl…we laughed in many parts, but the ending…oh my gosh. :eek: Honestly, it was OUTRAGEOUSLY gross and bizarre. It was good that you didn’t watch it to that point…I wish we hadn’t. 😊
 
I didn’t walk out of Blair Witch, for all its flaws, since when I was growing up, the woods of Maryland were indeed pretty big and plenty spooky - the setting was totally believable to me.

But for those I did walk out on, any Matrix flick after the first one was just bo-ring. Fortunately Xmen was playing in the theater next door. Oh, and Moulin Rouge - gah, who greenilighted that? SO lame. I think I made it for about 10 minutes before I was annoyed, then slackjawed, then snoring, before a friend nudged me and said ‘ugh, this really IS awful, lets go see what else is playing in this jillionplex, toot sweet!’

A few others, but yeah, when a movie is just shamefully bad, I’ll just scoot down to a theater with something worth watching. If I gotta pay that kind of ducats for entertainment, I intend to get my money’s worth. I even make sure there’s one I’m pretty sure will be fun besides the one the rest of the crowd thinks they want to see, and 99/100 times, they migrate right along with me.

One Christmas day a few years ago, my nephews and my sons commandeered the TV and watched that LOTR stuff for hours. Most of the rest of the family slept.
 
I wished I had walked out of the movie Dumb and Dumber.

I didn’t; I guess that just made me Dumbest. :sad_yes:
 
I’ve walked out on War of the Worlds. I would have walked out on Tropic Thunder if I wasn’t with friends.

Oh yes…moulin rouge…lol That movie just stunk! Sad, I like Nicole Kidman…but it was so bizarre…never ever finished watching it no matter how many times I’ve given it a chance.

I also never could get into the Lake House…anyone tell me what on earth that movie was about? How were two people in two different eras getting letters to each other? I don’t get it!!!:crying:
 
I wish I could have walked out on the happening-an utterly stupid, pointless movie with a cliche and impossible ending (minus the very, very end in the other country)
 
I have had the misfortune of watching a few bad flicks that made me wish I not only had my money back but also the two hours of my life I wasted. I agree with many of the films already mentioned. One movie comes to my mind, in which I wish I could have forever erased from my mind. Though I understood the basic premise of Kubrick’s movie A Clockwork Orange, I still wish I could erase the movie from my memory. The opening scene was a brutal rape scene in which the lead character played by Malcolm McDowell rapes the wife while singing “Singing in The Rain” in front the traumatized husband forced to watch. I can never here “Singing in The Rain” without bring that scene back into my memory.
 
I’ev never read any of the books. I may have read the cliff notes for Lord of the Rings in the late 60s, but I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure most of us would have dozed off anyway. I’m not big into fantasy stuff. Give me something realistic, like killer bees or giant mutant alligators anyday, volcanoes in LA or earthquakes in NYC…those are more to my taste.
 
I have to agree—I’m re-reading LOTR now and I’m astounded by the themes I missed when younger.

Plus, Jackson is overly in love with the grotesque for its own sake. “Let’s take this book and punch it up!!!”

Grotesque, yes, that’s a good description, and dark but not themes…the lighting and such. I find it very uncomfortable to watch movies without enough light.
