“Subverted my desires for the will of GOD”
Hmm… Good question, gotta think on that one. its been a while I guess, why you ask?
I ask because there are two integral parts of our relationship with God… there is the aspect of worship towards our God, and then there is the aspec tof the change enacted in us by following the will of God. If we merely seek to come to God on our own terms, then we do not have growth and change in our lives… we are not made new before God. Thus it is important to remember that we must always be mindful of the will of God and how our desires should be subservient to that.
Talking to God is unbiblical? Did I miss something?..

Did I miss some underlying point here?
Talking to God is not the unbiblical part… the implied concept that the church does not provide the support of Christian truth is the unbiblical concept. No where in the Bible does it say that the only important part of religion is the members relationship with their “personal Lord and Savior.” (in fact, I would go so far as to say that renaming God to a Personal Lord and Savior is almost heretical, depending on how far one takes the concept). The bible CLEARLY illustrates the need for the church as is God’s will.
“every Catholic” isn’t believable. I have personally met Catholics who care less about God than the average atheist does.
To that I would respond: then those weren’t really catholics, were they? A wolf dressed in sheeps clothing does not become a sheep…

Hmm… speaking of unbiblical. That is about the most unbiblical perspective you can have.

A person who has been baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Church is a Catholic. They may not be in communion with the Church, but they ***are ***Catholic. Popes who have illigitimate children are Catholic, they may not have a close relationship to God, but you can’t say they aren’t Catholic. Preists who abuse their offices and the trust placed in them don’t cease to be Catholic. Do you cease to be Catholic in you commit a mortal sin, which ***by definition ***precludes a close personal relationship to God? No, you don’t. You are not in God’s grace, but it doesn’t mean you are not Catholic.

You are not a Catholic by virtue of the way you act, nor does being Catholic imply a state of grace. You are a Catholic by virtue of the sacraments. That’s why people can say that bad men do not challenge the validity of the Papacy. That is why the sacraments can still be received by a priest who is living in mortal sin. Check out the CCC, I’m pretty sure you will find out that I’m right.

To use your analogy: a sheep who feeds on other sheep doesn’t cease to be a sheep.

Have you spoken with the only one with all the answers to your questions lately? If you have not, why? He is the only one who can truly answer your questions.
are you afraid to hear his voice or are you afraid of what you thought was right all this time is not? Do you feel that you are not worthy enough to speak with him? He is your father, he loves you regardless and wants us to come to him anytime to speak with him no matter what.

Fear not,sit quietly alone and speak with him then listen to your soul. Your soul is your true connection with GOD.
Hes right there with you, speak with him and be amazed at how close you truly are to him.
Hi Storm,
I talk to God every day. I say popcorn prayers all day long as stuff comes up. Sometimes I get mad at God and I let Him know and then He reassures me it is all ok by filling me with peace about the situation.😃

Sometimes I am afraid or too stubborn to go to God.😦 I will try something on my own–it wont work—then I go to God and VOILA it all works out:thumbsup: I dont know why I dont go to God first:shrug:
I do know that when I put my 100% trust in the Lord all works out!!! Whatever the situation.😃
Thank you for the post my sister in Christ or brother:blush:

Thank you for that great response!

You are a Catholic by virtue of the sacraments.
incorrect. Sadists often try to partake of the sacraments in order to commit sacrilage. Catholicism is bestowed by virtue of VALID participation in the sacriments. If I am confirmed, but I do not believe that the catholic church is the church God founded or I do not believe that Christ was truly divine, then my confirmation is not valid… it is sacrilage. By the same rote, those who go through the motions of being catholic whilst willfully maintaining a belief system which precludes any valid participation in the sacraments are not fully in union with the church.

I’ll use my own step sister as an example:
she went to confirmation to satisfy her parents, though she doesn’t believe anything the church teaches. She goes to mass (occasionally) to satisfy her parents. This does not constitute VALID participation in the sacraments of the church.

Catholicism is bestowed by virtue of VALID participation in the sacriments.
You are completely missing the salient point. You don’t “lose” Catholicism. You claimed all Catholics had a close personal relationship with God, and claimed that if they didn’t they weren’t Catholics. That simply isn’t true. You can be in mortal sin, without it invalidating your confirmation or baptism. You aren’t in communion, but you are still Catholic.

True, but being in a state of mortal sin cuts of sanctifying grace… it does not cut off our relationship with God OR His divine love for us. I think we’re both on the same side of this one, but using different terminology…

He is your father, he loves you regardless and wants us to come to him anytime to speak with him no matter what.
Amen! I speak to God many times each day. I think He especially wants to hear from us when we have sinned.
Fear not,sit quietly alone and speak with him then listen to your soul. Your soul is your true connection with GOD.

Many of us try to sit quietly in the Eucharistic Presence of Our Lord at Adoration at least once a week. That way we can not only be in His spiritual presence, but his real, sacramental presence too.

Oh yes it is early in the morning hear this is the only time I find silence. God is found in the still small voice. It is so hard to slow down and take time out. The world we live in is one of constant noise. But the silence is wonderful I talk to him all the time. But I prefer to listen. Not that I’m hearing voices. Well I guess if someone reads this a does not get it they will have to seek silence for 15 solid seconds and find out what I’m talking about.

Yes I speak to God several times a day. It is refreshing and very easy. By the comfort it gives me I know God is listening

Yes I speak to Him almost every second of the day. I receive Him in body, blood, soul and divinity at least once a week and I visit Him once a week in Adoration.

Thank you for asking.

Yes.

I am doing a lot more listening.

I really enjoy getting older.
