Carlen and Grace. Look I do not made judgement calls about either of you, cause only God knows your hearts I do not. It is none of my business how you came to know the Lord, that is for you and God to know.

I am truly sorry that I let my anger take hold when you posts to me are silly questions. I am workiing with Jesus on my anger.

I have been baptist 2 times and I am not sorry to say my second one was a beatiful experience. Now I am sorry that you find that offencive, but Ladies I just tell the truth. It is something I will never forget and always cherish. Now if you find fault with that then again I am sorry. You say you have never experienced it so you wouln’t know.

May God Bless you both in whatever you choose to be or not be. I will never place a judgement call on you. Judgement is God’s. Now you may if you like point out as many scriptures as you wish. I always love to read scripture.

God be with you both as you live in God’s word and may His light shine upon you as you contiinue on your journey with Him

That’s what I thought. 🤷

"Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly."
James 3:1
i would not worry too much about TweetyMom, I have been reading her posts and many others to get a good fell of things here. Each person should focus on their own salvation and relationship with the Lord, for I see many teachers here in whom shoes I would not want to be in on the day I meet the Lord. You are correct to post what James has said though the Holy Spirit and maybe some will do as James said to avoid the warning in the second half of the verse.

You won’t believe this, but I am telling the truth…Lemon is my favorite, then apple. give me direction i’m a comin or just set it out on the window sill like on Sylvester and Tweety and my nose will find it…LOL

The key is to have righteous anger and sin not. i get angered by anything that subverts the Lord and His people and that is righteous anger, but how you deal with it is the hard part.

It will be ready when you get here Anger is really my biggest sin and just when I think I have it under control the zap here it is again. Maybe this is my thorn in the side. Am in California.

Being a catechist is the scariest responsibility I have. I take this part of my job very seriously and am not beyond learning. I can only do this by the grace of God. I can’t imagine thinking I know everything.

Fortunately, God is our judge. He is just and judges us according to our deeds. He forgives us and restores us only if we repent.

Romans 2:5-7
But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; 10 but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
God judges us by our deeds because those works are the evidence of a “saving faith”. Just as when James wrote “…that faith without works is dead” or “…I will shew thee my faith by my works”.

MacD,Welcome, This is a Catholic forum,we share and explain our Apostolic faith to the interested visitors. and you are welcome to share and explain yours. It is not our way to confirm anyone if they are in error of what they think we believe. We wish to defend the Truth of our Christian faith. With an occasional exception, that is what we do. When that occasional exception confirms error in visitors, we do admonish but we do not judge.;):thumbsup:Carlan

We can judge error and point it out when it happens, Tweety that is what we do in the hopes that in humility we are all able to accept correction and grow from it. You have heard it said from all of us , Only God can judge the intentions of the heart.Carlan

I say in love to you thanks for all the very kind words and I do humbly thank you for your post. God corrects me when I need it. And I thank Him that He justs us with His pure eyes and He knows my heart.

RocketMan,
do you read the links we give you, and read ourselves before posting?
If not, what is the point of being here?
Yes I do, but I also work a full time job so sometimes I’m slow. But if you want me to read a book that I need to first buy for $9.95…That may take some time.

Just for the record, I did look online to find his testimony in a brief form, but couldn’t find it. Hope you at least could read the paragraph blurb about it. 🙂 ( I work full time too, but I’m off this week…way too much time on my hands!)

You know, as a protestant believer, I bet Catholic teaching on grace, salvation, justification, and free will would really rock your socks. I don’t think I would have had any problem with it during my protestant days.

It is really quite theologically rich.

I think we would differ when we get to the Catholic definition of Justification:

"Justification establishes cooperation between God’s grace and man’s freedom. On man’s part it is expressed by the assent of faith to the Word of God, which invites him to conversion, and in the cooperation of charity with the prompting of the Holy Spirit who precedes and preserves his assent "

I think justification imputes the righteousness of Christ to the believer. In a legal sense where once I was guilty and under God’s wrath, I have now been declared righteous through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Nothing in me has changed only my standing before the Almighty Judge. Like when my wife and I stood before the minister and he declared us legally married where in seconds before we were unmarried. Or when a judge announces an innocent verdict at court, where at once I was the accused I am now free because Christ has suffered in my place.

Justification is then a one time event imputed by the righteousness of Christ to the sinner and unlike the Catholic doctrine where they mix justification and sactification as a process infused by grace and is continued on the sinners own virtue rather than through the shed blood of Christ. By it then a Catholic moves in and out of salvation by his own actions rather than on the merits of the Cross.

Do you mean that man’s righteousness is not because of his free will then?

Because I know the concept of man’s free will was foreign to me as a protestant.

My free will was in the sense that before my conversion I was naturally following my sinful desires, walking hand and hand with sin, following it to the end where it was only restrained by mans laws or other external infuences. Someone once wrote that man is so depraved that he will even use God for his own advantage. After conversion, my will has been bent towards following God and avoiding sin, even though at times I dive in head first, as a overall pattern of life, I follow Christ.

I’m only asking to understand. Are you a Calvinist?
Is free will a part of Calvinist doctrine?

Don’t you still exercise your free will when you determine how much time you will spend in prayer or how much money you will give to the poor, or what you have for dinner?

For the record, when I ask a question, I also research. So I found a link to Norman Geisler’s Chosen But Free. I see this is a major difference between Catholic and Calvinist.

A Tiptoe through TULIP

Catholic Version of TULIP

In view of this, we might propose a Thomist version of TULIP
T = total inability (to please God without special grace);
U = unconditional election;
L = limited intent (for the atonement’s efficacy);
I = intrinsically efficacious grace (for salvation);
P = perseverance of the elect (until the end of life).***
