I am so glad I found this thread! I only cover at Mass so far, but all the comments really have me thinking… This is really exciting!

Well there’s really just the one direct scripture quote that I know of, 1 Cor 11:4-15:Hello!
I also feel called to “cover” full time. I was wondering if anyone had any bible quotes that I could use to help explain to my husband? I notice a great deal of discussion reagarding types of covering. I just wanted to toss out my thought - I’m Catholic, I would want people to know that I am a Catholic who covers. Lastly, what do Catholics wear - manitila (sp).
So, as a covering Catholic that’s what I would wear.
Any bible quotes would be greatly appreciated!

Well it can always be tried on a trial basis, you know? I think that’s how most women who cover full-time started. First at Mass, then at Mass and praying at home, etc. Maybe you could ask your husband if he would mind if you tried it for a week. Then you can go from there.Hello,
My husband is completely supportive of my covering at Mass and during prayer. He doesn’t really understand why I would want to “clean house” or grocery shop covered. He thinks that’s where it gets a bit extreame. I’m sure you’all
know we can get alot of prayer done scrubbing the tub! That’s the area where we don’t connect. I honestly think he’d be alittle embarrassed to be seen with me!

You went to your first Mass yesterday??? Wow! How was it?This is such a lovely threadI am considering wearing one - come to think of it, I saw a lady wear one when I went to my first Mass yesterday.
many blessings to you on your first Mass! This is such a lovely threadI am considering wearing one - come to think of it, I saw a lady wear one when I went to my first Mass yesterday.

many blessings to you on your first Mass!
many of the ladies at my church wear some kind of headcovering. it ranges, there are a few of the traditionalists with Mantillas… but many many more with snoods, hats, shawls, some sort of knit cap, or a dressy hat
in fact, if you didnt specifically think “women+ hat of some kind” you probably wouldnt notice…
Thank youYou went to your first Mass yesterday??? Wow! How was it?
This past Sunday, I wore a black, heavy knit square scarf. I folded it into a triangle, clipped it on top of my head and pulled one side across my neck and pinned it. It was loose and my hair stuck out just a little, but it was #1, warmand #2, just a nice feeling … I enjoy head covering at Mass. It really does make me focus.
its been… almost two years now for me, and i still stumble over some things… partly its a question of parts of the Catholic liturgy are almost, but not quite, the same as the Episcopalian, where i grew up.Thank youI loved it yesterday, I really have to learn the prayers properly - I only know the one liners.
I have a feeling I would see more ladies wearing head wear in the Cathedral.
Good for you for taking a stand re: wearing jjeans to Mass! I think I would have done the same thing if I had a teenager. As far as the headcovering…One thing you could try to do is to get her involved maybe so she’ll be more interested? For instance let her pick out the covering, or tell her you’ll buy her a new one online so you want her to pick one she really likes…If she resists you can bring it up like we discussed earlier, on a “trial basis”…Or you could phrase it like she’s doing you a favor: this is something very important for *you *to do and it’d be a great help and support if she would wear hers too in solidarity.Hello,
I would love to have that covering and dress wearing family feeling. My husband is completely supportive, in Mass, of both - but my daughter, who is 14 yrs old - is really feeling peer pressure. Last summer we were dress and cover girls but now we have no cover and she tries to get away with jeans to mass. We’re taking the jeans, there’s just no redeaming value, and I’m going to try and reintroduce the veil. It makes such a difference in her ability to focus during Mass. Any teenager suggestions would be MOST welcome!
I say go for it!This thread is making me want to wear handcovering now ^^

Asurie - Let’s grap our mantilla’s and Go Girl!Hello!
For someone with no children yetYou are very on target with how she might think! Once again I embrace your “trial basis” and small step philosophy. Thank you so much!
