Heaven is for Real

PROOF OF HEAVEN is a book written by Dr. E. Alexander, a neurosurgeon and atheist until his NDE. He didn’t see the BVM either. However, his life was transformed. He’s a little too New Age for me but his journey isn’t over yet. The boy in the book mentioned is now 14. He’s still on his journey too.

There"s a NDE on You Tube regarding an atheist that went to hell, called out to Jesus, and was delivered. He’s no longer an atheist but isn’t a Catholic either. He says on it that because hell was so awful, he wouldn’t ever wish it on his worst enemy, and because of what he experienced, he NEVER thinks or says “Go to Hell” to anyone.
The catechism of the catholic church says:

393 “There is no repentance for the angels after their fall, just as there is no repentance for men after death.”

I hope that is inaccurate, as the thought of going into permanent darkness is hideous to me!

As to Catholic conversion: Yes, time is important to us human psychosomas, but we should not expect someone to recover from NDE and immediately call to join RCIA. Having died, or nearly so, does not replace the process of discernment. At most, it gets it started.

Well, I did know that I wanted to be Catholic directly after my NDE and with no real idea as to why other then it was directly after the NDE. ( My first conscious awareness of the Church was watching the funeral of JFK later that same year.) It made perfect sense to me. I had to wait until I was 25 however, before being baptized. It was a long wait for me.

If that were true then these NDEs would almost always result in conversion to Catholicism. The Catholic Church is the normative means of salvation. It would seem odd that a God would show a boy heaven for the purpose of his soul and the conversion of others and then not show the Church. Think about it. A taste of heaven and then nothing. No sacrament of reconciliation to help this young boy. No Eucharist to give him sanctifying graces, no Church to lead him and direct his morality. NO vision of purgatory to help his loved ones who have gone before him. I believe they are Wesleyan Methodists. So we are talking about a complete void of a huge part of revelation of God through the Church’s Magisterium and Sacraments. So God allows this vision of heaven in all it’s complexities and majesty, yet forgets to show the vehicle to arrive at this destination? Odd.
I never thought about it in this way before. Thank you for sharing these thoughts. I read the book and enjoyed it but this gives me some things to think about.

I agree with the Church on the most important issues of faith. Masturbation being a mortal or venial sin is just a detail, don’t you think?
Yes, its just a detail, a very BIG detail if done deliberately. May even make the difference between Heaven and Hell. I do believe the Church considers it a most important issue of faith. And your getting way off topic!!! God Bless, Memaw

Sooo…I guess no one can answer my original question: Why is Catholic media promoting this movie so much?

While I cannot speak for the media, maybe it’s because the film encourages thinking about “the four last things”??

Your guess is as good as mine, God Bless, Memaw
Because in this day and age ANYTHING that mentions God is seized upon like a thirsty castaway that is forced to drink seawater. We are so parched for anything spiritual in the arena of media that we down gallons of it if it even appears wet. Never mind that it is polluting us, making us more thirsty for the True Water of life.

Water, water everywhere. And not a drop to drink.

It just dawned on me that Hollywood is starving for new ideas now. Everything coming out is a remake of an old idea. Superman, batman, etc. Heck even sports movies are stale and old but get refurbished and painted. (bad news bears) But I realize I have seen this movie before.

Bruce Willis played the dad.
Haley Joel Osment the son

The Others:
Nicole Kidman is the dad?
Everyone else is the son?
No wait.
Patrick Swayze the dad
Demi moore the son?

What many people don’t know is M Knight Shyamalan actually directed this and
SPOILER ALERT:::

The boy is actually dead, AND SO ARE WE!!!
No wait a vision from heaven.
City of Angels where Nick Cage finds the declaration of independance in heaven and then returns to earth because the worship of one single goddess is better than salvation.

No wait Michael.

Where heaven obviously has strict diet rules and once again a person experiencing the beatific vision would choose to forsake it.

Or is this a rewrite of the book
Celestine Prophesy
or perhaps
The Five People you Meet in Heaven…

yes, that is it! That is the one. Oprah told me so.😉

The path to Heaven is narrow and difficult to follow but the path to Hell is wide and easy to follow. Seems we have forgotten that. I thirst for the TRUTH. God Bless, Memaw
