I’ve always felt that all these type of crucifixes, crosses, whatever they are, are designed primarlly to downplay the sacrificial aspect of the crucifixtion and emphasize the resurrection. However since Christ was not resurrected directly off the cross I think the effort falls a little flat. In all honesty I think many people would rather not even have a crucifix present, you know too gory and painful looking, and not at all in line with current feel good theology. You know how it goes: Christ isn’t the Savior who died for our sins, He’s my bro, my homie, He’s cool and we’re tight. He doesn’t ask anything, He doesn’t judge, He’s just one cool dude…Come on everybody, lets be a cheerleader for Jesus.
Come to think of a lot of places don’t have crucifixes any longer. Maybe it’s only a matter of time until we are all enlightened.
