We’re reporting you to the Breviary Gestapo right now!You would take the psalms and all other apparatus from the Common if you were celebrating a memorial as a feast or solemnity – for example, if St. Bernard were your parish patron. In the Confraternity of Penitents, we celebrate the memorial of the Queenship of Mary as a Solemnity because August 22 is the anniversary of our foundation. So not only do we use the psalms from Sunday, week I, we also do not have to fast (we fast on Wednesdays) and we can eat meat (we don’t eat meat on Wednesdays). Everything that is not in the Proper of Saints will come from the Common. The answer to your other question about the prayer of the day being used for all the hours is that for the little hours, you may use the prayer of the day or not. You can pray the little hours on memorials as if the memorial did not exist. Also the hymn and the psalm prayers are optional. They may be omitted.AJV - Thanks for your reply. It is very helpful.
Too bad I’ve been doing the wrong thing on Memorials though!![]()
