Hi,

I know there’s nothing I can really say to you to help comfort you, but know that you and your daughter are in my prayers. I’m a guy, a newly converted college man (used to be Jewish), and I adamantly despise abortion and those involved. I’ve been attending my Catholic group’s rosary and counseling outside a local abortion clinic in my town at college here, and I will be doing so this Friday, hopefully. Your daughter and the life inside of her will be in my prayers, please know that , for sure.

I’m 22, I can understand entirely what propaganda and essentially atheism is out there in college classes and youth television, movies, etc, and how friends can just reinforce it all. I’ll make sure to do a “rosary bomb” of prayers all for your daughter and her friends to have a change of heart about this procedure and life in general. Culture of death and moral relativism were the first intellectual issues I ever read to lead me to Christ and the Church. I pray for your daughter.

You know my sins. I come to you and ask that you be with Katherine and her baby. Maggie’s grandbaby doesn’t deserve suffering, and if Katherine knew the pain she was causing to the baby and herself, she wouldn’t do this. But for the repose of this beautiful angel, I send to you:

No word from this sad grandmother and mother.
Heavenly Father if her daughter has gone ahead with the abortion, only You can help her through all the feelings and hurt she is suffering.
Please give humble repentance to her daughter if she has killed her baby, and lead her to pray and go to Confession, and to find her way back to You.

Thank you Trish, and everyone. People have been so generous in Love and prayers for my daughter. She is no longer in contact with me. I have begged and provided information and suggested she research BOTH sides, taken her to the pregnancy center twice, brought her to a Catholic counselor and begged her over and over to please not do this terrible thing. That she is killing an innocent life and harming herself. She is determined, saying that IT can’t feel pain yet (she’s now at least 19 weeks) and IT isn’t “sentient”. So I can only assume that she had the laminaria this morning as planned.

I told her last night that if she has the laminaria and she changes her mind it’s not too late, she doesn’t have to go through with it; to call me if she changes her mind and i will do anything for them, medically, financially, practically, whatever support she needs. I don’t expect a call. She knows that I would raise the baby, or help her arrange an adoption. She is over halfway through the pregnancy, which she ‘blames’ on MediCal taking so long.

Please, please, make sure that your representatives know that you do not want abortion services in this health care program being pushed on us. Knowing that my taxes are going toward the death of my first grandchild is a bitter pill to swallow. My daughter said that if she didn’t have MediCal, she would have carried the baby to term.

I simply have had to put this child and my daughter in God’s hands and continue to pray for them. So many people have been very supportive and kind and continue to pray, we’ve been overwhelmed. Saying ‘thank you’ doesn’t begin to express my profound gratitude. Many have shared this trial with me and helped in ways I could never fully express.

I thank God that there are so many good people who truly love their fellow man. It renews my faith, during a time when the ways of the world have become overwhelming.

and yes, while there’s life, there’s still Hope, so I continue to pray.

I’m so sorry… I will keep on praying.

It breaks my heart that she’s been told lies about her baby… not only that it’s not alive, not a baby, etc but also regarding development. A baby born at 22-25 weeks can already potentially survive. Also in one of my courses, we read a study where a baby reacted to touch and it was only several weeks - showing that it is sentient… sorry I don’t remember how many weeks.

If you get a chance to speak to your daughter again, maybe this is something that might help… but God can do more, so I’m still praying… this is all very sad. God bless you…He is with you.
 
This is such a nightmare for you Maggie and I don’t know how you can get over it, but I pray you will, and that you’ll be able to forgive your daughter because I think that would be very hard to do. I can imagine that you feel as if your world has turned upside down.
I wish we had a modern day Padre Pio to turn to in times like this to pray for the miracles and the conversions we need.

I thought I would post, though there is no news yet.

Ironically my dog had surgery today and I’ ve been with her. It has been a helpful distraction (she’ll be ok). We have heard nothing yet, but I expect that it is all over and am just in tears at that thought and at the outpouring of love and faith and found prayers here. Asking for prayers has allowed me to share our experience, but I had no idea the tremendous comfort that would be given me through CA. There simply aren’t words that express my gratitude at the outpouring of love and prayers.

I pray that other parents will be reassured in reading this thread, understanding that all the complex feelings involved are normal and healthy’ that the anger is not evil, unless we dwell on it and get obsessed over it. Once I’ve done all that I can, having the courage share that Truth, I must allow God’s will to reign, even if I do not understand it. That’s not to say that I do not pray for forgiveness for anything I may have done in not teaching the sanctity of life or for my choices (terrible first marriage outside of the Church, single parent, etc).

I love what St. Augustine said, “Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are.”. My anger gave courage to say some very difficult things to my daughter and face some hard questions like, “How much am I willing to support her if she does this?” and “How can I act in Love, without contributing to her sin”.

There is a really great thread on here about the 9 ways to contribute to sin, I found it after watching Fr. Corapi’s talk. I just love him! This is such a great compass. Reviewing this helped me tremendously in decided how God wants me to behave in such a complicated situation. Do I keep her secret? respect her privacy? disavow her?

My heart is breaking, but it is also overflowing with gratitude of the many prayers for Katherine and this baby. There is so much Love in the world, if we take time to see it; even during times like these, especially in times like these.

Meanwhile, I continue to trust in God and beg for the compassion and courage to love her, regardless. I also continue to thank God for the many blessing and gifts that he has given us and for the peace and comfort that he sends us.

My daughter exercised her freedom of choice today, using our tax dollars.

My grandchild is now safe with God where he/she is loved perfectly. This baby was loved and wanted by many. We loved her and a number of people contacted me offering to adopt the baby. If only she would have allowed this.

Please, please pray for these women, especially the very young girls who do not realize what they have. Pray that each of us can make a difference in this battle for life and start this earlier to lay a foundation before the ways of the world 'cause such confusion.

I will be offline for a while, but wanted to let others know. There simply are not words to either describe my sadness or express my gratitude for all of the prayers and kindness.

I don’t suppose I was really expecting a happy ending to this, but it is still very difficult. My prayers are with you in these difficult days ahead, as you follow through with whatever you told her you would do, if she did this.
