Help us, Pope Benedict 16th! We are a sick church!

I am with Indy Ann on this one. I think the handful of traditionalists are the most pessimistic people I have ever seen. I guess I am just blessed to live where the Catholic Church is vibrant and booming, but I know that I am not the only one. The same changes that everyone here laments is converting Africa for Christ. Our country and the world had real tough times to endure in the sixties and seventies. We can’t always weep and wail when troubles come. Where is the faith?
It seems that some lost it some 40 years ago when the “gates of hell prevailed against the Church”.

When and who stated the gates of hell have prevailed. Even having a Church where the majority of laity, priests and bishops where heretic as happened with the Arian heresy–did not lead to the gates of hell prevailing.

I forgot to use the

By reading some of the posts here, that is what could be concluded.🤷

Oh please.

Asking for the Holy Father to help improve a Church riddled with mistakes and deviants like those pictured is not the same as saying “Satan has won, game over, adios RCC.”

I assume if the Priests at your home parish were molesting boys and playing frisbee with Holy Communion, you’d be indifferent because after all, the gates of Hell won’t prevail, right?

Why pray for an end to abortion? We know the devil is going to lose in the end. I shouldn’t worry, right?

That isn’t an out to allow Catholics to be lazy and tolerant of this garbage.

As you can see – your conclusion was way off.

Pessimistic – No. We just don’t turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the problems that we have had and continue to have.
I know there have been many problems and some even persist. They are always a cause for prayer and hard work. This side of heaven we will always struggle. But we should also joyously embrace all the good things that are happening in the Church today. When people focus on the bad in excess, I consider that pessimistic.

Yet Hope is a theological virtue.

No, but I would also not assume that the whole Church has gone to hell in a handbasket either because of a nutty or evil priest.

Hope is embedded within my soul — it is part of my Faith.

And no --acknowledging there are problems is not focusing on the bad in excess. It is part of the struggle to bring the problems to the surface and not sweep them under the rug.

By talking amognst ourselves, we must remember respect, to understand how a person feels, or atleast an understanding of the situation and to be focused on not judging a person nor wish wrath apon them. And if we are to pray to God, then pray to Him in a way that the person you are praying for is listening and able to do God’s will…and not what you merely want. Understand.

I love the Church!

And it saddens me that it is getting a reputation for a place where Christains aren’t happy. It also saddens me when I see people trying to tell each other they don’t “understand” enough.

*Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5-6 *

maybe he’s somewhere in those pictures…

He is loose somewhere within the Church. I am sure — there are more with that type of belief.

Yes, but not in the Church. I think he popped on a few days ago and spammed everyone for fun before his profiles were banned. You would have missed it if you weren’t on at the right time.

Not aware of the one you mention—this one is still active.

why? i needed a job

I did some checking. You are using the name of character (an alcoholic priest) from some program. Either way — whether you are a priest or not — whether you are Catholic or not --you are one sick puppy.
