Am I right? Your thoughts?
So I am not only addressing your thread title but the actual post too. Geez, admit you are wrong Jimmy! Most protestants have NO problem with anyone visiting these sites… At least the ones on this forum don’t. You asked if you were right, you’re not. Now it is time to admit it.

Moderators:
Since it seems Jimmy is not wanting to discuss his assertion or the answers given to it, I say we shut this down as this thread has no direction. The OP doesn’t even know what the topic is…

General Observations

It appears to me that there are some here who are reading too much into a given situation and “seeing” the things that they want see, that are not there. There are some here, who are creating problems, which do not, or should not exist and basically “causing trouble” for no reason.

There are also some here, who because of their own unrealistic expectations and/or unreal view of a situation are creating issues, where there should not be an issue, because “they have issues”. Some here might like to make things more dramatic than they should be, simply because it excites them or because of their craving and need for attention.

It also appears that some here, take what is posted, too seriously and unrealistically, then internalize and personalized things and put a negative twist on something, which was well intended and generalized.

There exists many people today, who posses enormous egos.

People who have control issues, are the same people who tend to, “power-trip” and so on. These types of people like to “power-trip” and want to control the behavior of others, to shape that person to be like they are, or as they feel that person ought to be.

Now, with the internet, people are “embolden”. People who would, in a normal situation avoid any confrontation, “cause trouble” because it is “empowering”…This is all fueled by insecurity, inflated egos, a need for attention and in some cases, an overcompensation for poor personal, face to face interaction or “people skills”.

People, who have a problem with their ego, make better Protestants, in general, in my opinion… because they “have more control”. I know I will get more responses for saying this but it is true. There are some Protestants ministers for example, who would not become Catholic, because they would need to give up their current “position” and simply be another member, no more “attention”, no more authority.

Catholicism is the religion of surrender, it always has been and it is how Christianity was intended to be experienced. Catholicism is the true expression of Christianity.

True observance of Christianity, involves surrender and humility.

Ego has been on the rise in recent years, often justified, or claimed to be “confidence”,

True confidence allows for humility, ego does not.

People who have an ego problem are more argumentative and tend to personalize and internalize things. They also tend to have insecurity problems. Big ego’s can create this problem, because there tends to be an attitude, that “I should always have my way” or, “I am always right”, there is a self-centeredness going on.

These people have a problem with their attitude - in general… and generally, “do not play well with others”. These same people have a problem with authority, in general.

Catholics must submit to the authority of Christ’s Church and do not always “have things their way”. In other word’s, there are people who have God on their terms. In Christianity, those people are Protestants.

In Protestantism, with so many thousands of different denominations, one can shop and choice the denomination that suits their needs…ego intact…no need for humility…

Many posters here mentioned, “Baiting”. Could someone here please describe, “baiting” and explain why this is such a “problem”? Especially, for a person who is not insecure in their own faith?

I have read things here like, “he’s not charitable” or “he makes fun of me” or comments like “he makes people look stupid" and these comments are generally directed to those that are in disagreement or those who’s “personality” or “approach” meets someone’s disapprove.

These are all perfect examples of personalizing, and internalizing things that were meant in a general sense. These are "tactics”, which some use to attempt to influence, or end any apposing debate and a way to try to manipulate the behavior of someone that they disagree with…

Comments like these, disguise as “advise” or “pointing -out someone else’s problems”… are really used as tools to win or end an arguments. This is how insecure people behave, through manipulation.

Comments like these, disguised as “advise” are meant to insult, embarrass and/or, somehow attempt to harm another individual that they might simply disagree with and cannot, otherwise control. This is their way to compensate for a weakness in their own exegesis.

Personal comments, or personal “attacks” directed specifically at another person, during any debate, is irrelevant and does not further the discussion in any way.

If people here, are truly certain that their faith, or that their denominations, or that their beliefs are all well-founded and “true”, then they should have no problem, naming that denomination, detailing their beliefs and then defending their beliefs, without any person comments.

Most of these comments were meant in a general sense and are well intend, these are my own impressions. .

We all should pray for more patients, love and humility, if we are to grow in our Christian faith.

Peace

I just wanted to add that I know that the majority of people here at CAF are genuinely kind and nice, good Christians and good Catholic Christians, so these comments do not apply to them. Then again, those people are not judgmental and do not personally attack members here.

As for the people who do constantly, make the personal comments here, relax, life is too short, I’m sure that for the most part, most of you who “stalk” me here, are good and decent people as well…just easily worked-up. 😃

I’ll try and work on my people skills.

God Bless.**

People do, at times, take things a little personal when the majority of the threads started by a person are meant to criticize and put down someone’s faith.

And by the way, don’t assume that protestants are arrogant and egotistical because they don’t agree with you. Did you ever stop to think that people take what you say personally because they are meant to attack what someone believes? In fact, you respond the same way when ignorant people attack you. You say you love your Christian brothers and sisters who aren’t catholic, but then you start threads that do nothing but say how the faith of protestants is false and based on lies. So why say you love us when it is obvious that you either a.) think we are ignorant petulent children who won’t listen to their mom and dad and then treat us as such, or b.) think we are not Christians, or could it be both? If you want us to stop taking things personally, then how about not creating threads who sole purpose is to do nothing but to prove others wrong.

Good post.

I guess Jimmy isn’t going to answer my response to his OP… I am not attacking him, just wondering why he won’t concede that his assertion in the OP is wrong. 🤷 Not a ‘power trip’ or ‘control’ thing. Just tired of people making unfounded assertions then refusing to admit they are wrong when proven as such.

Let’s try it again…

No, you aren’t right. 🙂 It is not an attack to say you are wrong. As you are in many of the assertions you make in many of the threads you start. But to stay with the OP, no - you are wrong in this assertion.

Frankly, I don’t care if they visit those sites. I say good for them if it helps strengthen their faith. Besides, what made him create a thread with such a title? Have protestants been running rampant screaming for others to avoid those sites? Some might, but they tend to be the spiteful ones. As for me, I could care less. I am just tired of people creating threads that are meant to deride and ridicule even if the poster says they are doing things out of love and compassion. Then again, Singinbeauty, people may same things about us. Oh well, I guess some of us will just have to agree to disagree.

What a tempest in a teapot!

Am I the only one who took Jimmy’s thread title as slightly tongue-in-cheek?

My immediate response was a laugh, and a “yes!” because I have some un-ecumenical protestant friends who regret deeply that I ever found the CA website, which is what got me to wet my toes in the Tiber, so to speak.

I think only one of them would have steered me away, though, because he believes to this day that we Catholics are agents of the devil.

But I doubt he’d ever post here … and if he did he’d probably get banned pretty quick. It was his introducing me to “the cookie of death” and the other anti-Catholic Chick tracts that led me to CA. For my introduction to Catholic truth, see catholic.com/library/sr_chick_tracts_p1.asp

Ruthie

P.s. I use “protestant” with a lower-case p to indicate all non-Catholic Christians. When I talk about the specifically Protestant sects, I give 'em the cap. So, please, no hurt feelings!

Thanks for the post. I appreciate your candidness. But do you think that when someone’s threads all deal with knocking down protestants that maybe it is a little more than tongue-in-cheek? Would that not cause some wear and tear for you?

What do you mean? I am supposed to be scared of the Vatican’s website, clarify please buddy.

You guys are too much, my thread titles here, are written in a way to get people’s attention…that’s it…no great conspiracy here but thank you for proving many of the points that I made in my last post.:rotfl:

Lol, you people crack me up, still carrying on about my thread titles….unbelievable….😃

“you go get em… tiger” … go get that “evil thread title-er”

:rotfl:

You guys aren’t here for answers, many of you are anti-Catholic and are here to bad-mouth catholics and the the Catholic Church and try to convert people from the Catholic Church to a Protestant denomination.

When someone here, like me “calls you” on some of the made-up, anti-Catholic nonsense here… and I post things which shine a light on the the errant beliefs found in Protestantism…you people go crazy…Go back and read some of the post I have had directed torwards me, in the last couple weeks and tell me if this is the way a Christian is suppose to act? S

Seems to me that their are a lot of Hypocrites here.

keep complaining, I think it’s funny and interesting, I have learn a lot about some you here in the last few weeks and it ain’t all been good…

Thanks for a good laugh.😃

Take care.

But your OP SAYS EXACTLY THE SAME THING! It’s not just your thread title that we are responding to. What is the purpose of this thread, Jimmy?🤷

He told us what the purpose was: to show how we a messed up and misguided faith as he sees it. I have not once bad-mouthed catholics on here. I am certainly not one who would try and “convert” a catholic since that is an obvious oxymoron. The purpose of his threads seem clear, and if he wants to lump us in with others who hate catholics then fine. I have nothing against him. I just don’t like the way he creates threads that do nothing but give him the opportunity to tell us how wrong we are on everything, but then try and smooth that over by saying “I love all my Christian brothers.” Why call someone your brother when you emphatically state how wrong they are, and how their foundation of faith is false? Maybe, Singinbeauty, this just isn’t a mountain worth dying on anymore.

Jimmy… I was bi-vocational for several years, and was a firefighter and paramedic along with being a pastor for nearly 15 years. I’ve worked in the real world, and I am far from being politically correct.

I simply challenged you on being honest in your apologetics - you have challenged and asked personal questions, yet get riled up and claim we’re being personal. I guess we’d like some consistency.

You have said that Protestantism is for ego-ists. Since you’re not so PC, I’ll simply say that I resent that and will tell you that you don’t know what the hell you are talking about.

I respect Catholicism. Have never thought to do otherwise.

O+

Depends on who is reported…seems Catholics get a pass

I think the point is that if when someone brings up a valid point, or question, and the OP has no valid response, or is unwilling to deal with it, they tell the others they are silly, or brag about how manly they are, and then those with the valid points are supposed to crawl away liked whipped dogs with their tails between their legs.

But one side isn’t playing along… how silly of them!

maybe if we are told just one more time.that we are anti-Catholic, silly, not able to deal with a real man…we’ll stop using our brains and see it the way the OP sees it! Or maybe we are intelligent enough to recognize a smoke screen when we see one and not accept the labels and assumptions that someone else tries to stick on us when they don’t have a real response.

How silly of us not to roll over and give in when our responses are inconvenient to the OP and his agenda.

It would be so much easier if we would just act the part he’s created for us and not confound things with truth.

That’s the risk anyone takes when they post on a forum, that people might respond in surprising, and challenging ways.

I would think Catholics would be happy, especially one’s that love their faith and defend it, to find that others are not trying to keep people from learning more about it…but apparently that’s NOT the case.

Instead they continue to tell us how anti-Catholic we are and how we are trying to keep people from the truth of Catholicism.
hmmm…not sure how that adds up.

I send people to CAF, the Catechism and the Catholic Encyclopedia on line on a regular basis. Must be another subversive act on my part, trying to convince them to NOT investigate the faith. How silly of me.
