The only real issue here, at least as far as I can see it, is to do something that truly is cause anger in the Moslems. And, you are right, this is not Christ-like.
They need our prayers and not our methods of burning their book because they burn the Bible.

What would be your reason for burning an English version of the Quran? How does this conform to the image of Christ and his call to love our enemies, pray for those who use us badly, turn the other cheek?
What of Paul’s call to “Be at peace with all men as far as it is up If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.” Or the writer of Hebrews…“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;”
Is burning Quran’s to make some “point” to Muslims worthy of one who claims to follow Christ?
We are supposed to have a better way to deal with issues between us and perceived “enemies”…just some thoughts.
I wonder if “burning a Quran” to somehow make a point to Muslims is done so in the Peace of Christ?

only the Arabic version is a holy book.

Regardless of it’s status as being “holy”, it’s still a great disrespect and thus I beleive a violation of the golden rule (to which we are truely bound).

A muslim islamic sunni posted on here that only the Arabic koran is holy.
All other translations are NOT holy and they are NOT the word of allah because allah only spoke Arabic.
I just want to know from Meedo, who is also a muslim if he/she believes that all non-Arabic translations of the koran are holy or NOT.

Ha ha ha! I have a long list of verses within the NIV I have a problem with (including saying that Ananias met Paul on “Straight Street,” and the fact that they say Jesus ate at Matthew’s house in Matthew’s gospel, thereby destroying the evangelist’s point of humility), so I won’t contest your point there.
Although if you want to know a REAL train wreck of a translation, pick up your local copy of The Message. Every verse makes you want to :banghead:
Disrespect, yes. Although if Muslims don’t consider the translated Quran as holy, then there’s absolutely no reason to be burning Christian churches in Africa or threatening to kill Christians across the Middle East because some guy at a small church halfway around the world is burning your holy book in a version you don’t even consider to be holy. In fact that’s rather counterproductive for a religion claiming it’s all about peace.

I mentioned in a post on another thread that if I had an NIV, “I” would burn it. It is an agenda driven, twisted version of the truth, not that much better than the rather infamous “New Weird Translation”. If I can ever get one of those, I will burn it as well.
