Which part did you take issue with? I’m not trying to be obtuse, just trying to see exactly what you thought was hateful or false about it.
“from other Americans?” I thought we were talking about people coming in from Mexico. However the idea that Hispanics will naturally import crime due to been so different from other Americans is stamped all over that post I quoted.
The government is not there to help any particular group e.g. Black and Hispanic people. It is insulting to both.Except that recent de-regulation in the past decade hasn’t been helping jobs and led to the current recession. My point being is where are the policies that are directly helping these minorities and immigrants in the USA? The repub idea is to use trickle-down theory for everything, which hasn’t been shown to be working for the past decade so why keep pushing it? There needs to be a new mix of fiscal policy and stimulation through taxes, tax breaks, regulation, and de-regulations.
Sure. We will see. I think Republicans know that the need to get more of the Hispanic vote. That’s not a realistic avenue for most repubs. They need a way to stand firm on illegal immigrants and still push legal immigration.
I do not need sources, it is very obvious. If you criticize Barack Obama you are a racist, if your Black and criticize Obama you are an Uncle Tom.I’m sure the more this is repeated the more people will believe it. Where are your sources?
I remember Huckabee saying during the 2007/2008 republican debates that children of illegal immigrants should be able to get citizenship. He also said it again in 2010.They can still maintain an illegal immigration stance as long as they reform immigration. Example, give more work visas that allow immigrants to bring their immediate family. Employers can use this for verification and taxing purposes, so the companies get cheaper labor and Uncle Sam gets his cut. I guess you could even force them to buy health insurance, like PMI on a house, so they would be less of a drain on societal services. Just have something so immigrants can try. Make it so workers don’t have to cross illegally and there’s less of a chance they will.
The Republicans are not stupid, they know that they need to do more to get the Hispanic vote. It starts with the grass roots:What I’m noticing here in Florida is a switch of party among hispanic voters. Since I’m Cuban-American and live in a very Cuban area, I’m going to be speaking primarily about Cubans.
The Cuban vote has always been contrary to other hispanic votes around the nation. There are a few reasons for this. First, Bay of Pigs. Cubans felt betrayed by Kennedy, a Democrat, during the Bay of Pigs and left the Democratic Party for the Republican Party. Secondly, Cuban immigrants came to the US in search of freedom from a Communist dictator. Because of this, many Cubans are pro-free market and very capitalist in their thinking. Back during the '08 election it wasn’t uncommon to see bumper stickers that read: “Cuba got Change in 1959” referencing Fidel Castro. And since Republicans are the strong anti-Communist party, they tend to lean Republican.
What’s interesting is that my dad’s side of the family was always major Republican and my mom’s side was all Democrat. However, my mom’s side of the family changed party affiliation due to the Elian Gonzalez incident. If you don’t know what that is, here is a link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elián_González_affair . But to make a long story short, a Cuban mother died to get her son to the US only for the Clinton administration to give him back to Cuba. I remember having the picture of the military taking him in my house and car swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2010/04/06/Elian%20raid-thumb-360x278.jpg . Very sad. And that turned many Cuban Democrats into Republicans.
Now, 2011. More than 50 years after Fidel Castro took over Cuba, the younger generation of Cubans are becoming liberals. Surprisingly, more and more young Cubans are registering Democrat. However, I even at 18 and never visited Cuba, have strong ties to my heritage that would never allow me to register Democrat.
All this being said, hispanics in general tend to be more Democrat, yes because of immigration, but the Dems are very much into government run social justice which would appeal to some Catholics who believe it’s the government’s business to get into social justice (I’m all for social justice, but leave gov’t out of it). Which is why many Catholics tend to be liberal while ignoring the abortion issue.
I hope the Republican party does something quick to get the hispanic vote. Down here we elected another Cuban Republican to the Senate (Sen. Marco Rubio). But the Republican candidates are going to have to do more in 2012 than just stop by Miami to eat at a Cuban restaurant and wish death upon Castro. They’re gonna have to really work for the vote this time.
What has this got to do with anything? Some borderline racist comments do not mean everybody in the Republican party is a racist.I also wondered why mexican american neighbors just did not vote republican. Then I checked out this website:

Re: Immigrant Tent Cities Under Fire
Other than the health code violations and somewhat limited access to lawyers, I’m all for it.
Re: Immigrant Tent Cities Under Fire
Gosh, how is this much different than the living arrangements many Americans have to suffer through after a natural disaster? As I recall…many are still living in much less than ideal conditions after Hurricane Katrina…so my heart is not going to break for the illegals. Are they being starved?** No one asked them to come here. Too bad they cannot send them back to their homeland quicker and we don’t have to feed them.**
:heart:Blyss
Are there children being held in the tent cities? If so, I missed that part. If it is the lawbreaking parents…so be it…they are law breakers…they are not upstanding citizens. You cannot really compare the internment camps of WW2 with the illegals being housed here today. That is apples and oranges.** As for telling anyone “I’m sorry.”…lets hear it from the illegals who stole into this country…unwanted and unwelcomed. I’ll be waiting…LOL**

Teehee, Teehee. Teehee.
And then I found another website:
A controversial Arizona sheriff known for making his inmates wear pink underwear and eat green bologna turned his back on his state’s favored presidential candidate, opting instead to join forces with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
The Romney camp appointed Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio Monday as honorary chair of the campaign in the state of Arizona.
“The first time I met the governor at a private meeting, first thing he said was ‘How’s the pink underwear doing?’” Arpaio told FOXNews.com Wednesday.
Romney asked Arpaio to join his campaign in early January after several meetings, said Arpaio, who has made his name with a tough stance on immigration in the nation’s fourth largest county.

For grins and giggles use goggle Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Might clue in why 3rd generation americans of mexican heritage just love love love being asked to prove that they are citizens. And you want them to vote republican. Really?
And guess what. Jokes about wetbacks and beaners don’t seem to go over real well here in the great southwest. Also talk about deporting their mothers, fathers, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. does not seem to get a lot of mexican american support. Can anyone get a clue why?
Honestly, look through this website re: immigration and mexicans. And you really wonder why mexican americans don’t vote like you? Really? I just see what a waste it is for a political party to write off the nation’s largest minority.
I’m not a catholic. But it just shocks me how white catholics seem to just dislike mexican catholics. I’m southern and I saw and heard white southern baptists’ contempt for black southern baptists. I never got how Jesus, God, and skin color got so mixed up that one group of christians can despise another another group of christians. It’s the exact same thing here. Look at the above examples. Search this website. Read about what people wrote about mexicans who are just as catholic as you. And you wonder why their kids and grandchildren will not vote for your party.
What’s the shortest phrase in the bible? Oh yeah … “Jesus wept.”
Children of illegal immigrants are already citizens if they are born here.I remember Huckabee saying during the 2007/2008 republican debates that children of illegal immigrants should be able to get citizenship. He also said it again in 2010.
That is reaching out to the Hispanic community.
I think Huckabee meant children who were not born in America could become citizens, otherwise there would of been no point in mentioning it would there?Children of illegal immigrants are already citizens if they are born here.
Or is a Republican actually supporting the DREAM Act?![]()
How on earth can you quote the very question I asked in the body of your post, yet still forget to answer it?bla bla bla
