Regardless of who believes in what – that statement that BookLover made was to state that "there was no islam before mohamad"

Now, I will go and take a Tylenol… but before I do that, would you Benjamin mind telling us from what country on this God’s glorious earth you are living at?

You seem to have access/exposure in your life with burka clad women, and also these burka clad women attending their mosques.

LOL!! I dont think like that, Its not like I think God commands all women to cover themselves from head to foot, I just prefer how Muslimas dress then modern Christians.😦

The way somebody “chooses” to dress is an action. Therefore your “decision” will reflect someway or somwhow. What you just said means, God dose not care if we use foul language, its our "actions" that He watching. A woman might dress modestly in Mass, but she is only an hypocrite if she becomes something worse then that once she steps out of Church. Muslims dont behave that way. The way they dress in Mosques, they dress in puplic as well.
You really are hung up on how people dress and use it to determine who YOU think is pure.
The reason Muslims think that way is because they NEED to fear God, for they rejected Jesus Christ. I am not saying Love God because its our duty, I am saying love God because He`s simply God. But hey, you said it yourselves “we submit to God” thus making us true Muslims.
“And again, we submit to God out of love for Him, not out of duty.” Where did I say otherwise?
I still find this insulting. And I’d be willing to bet our muslim friends here do as well.
I didn´t think I had to break it down for you people.
a Muslim means who submits to God, the Muslims we know are not true Muslims because they submit to the laws of Mohammad NOT to Allah. This is why I simply said we are the true Muslims and the fulfilled Jews:D
See above response.
Who are you to say they don`t worship God? They admit to themselves they worship the Author of the universe.
This coming from someone who thinks muslim women are more pure than Christian women because they wear burkas.

Simply because they make that claim does not make it true.

Many cultures throughout history have in their belief systems a god who creates. Does that also make them worshippers of the Holy Trinity?
Surely they dont accept Jesus Christ, but even us Catholics dont get the true essense of the Trinity. Therefore it is a mystery. In order to have the right to say to Muslims you don`t believe in the God of Abraham**(peace be upon him)**, means you discovered the mystery of the Trinity. blashphemous.
Is this a clue?

I am not being blasphemous. Saying our God is a god who allows murder, rape, pillaging, lying, honor killings, forces women into a type of slavery, etc. to me is blasphemous.
Please man, you have no right to say that. We know for a fact that Muslims worship the same God Jesus worshipped.
Another clue.

I have every right. How do you know it’s a fact that they worship the same God?

*I think Vickie nailed it a few posts back. *

OK, this has to be one of the most bizarre dialogues I’ve had here - it almost ranks up there with the “you have to get married and have kids in order to be a REAL man” thread. 😃
Benjamin8o8;4709404]It might not be sexual but it is still Gods law to cover us up. If Muslims can do it under sever women, then they can as well.
If you’re just referring to dressing modestly, I agree - I don’t agree that it’s God’s law to dress as Muslim women do. I’m still not sure how African tribal women who may not even know anything different could be sinning. 🤷
When we are in the shower, our minds are focused on washing our earthly bodies. There is no need to ask the Holy Spirit to intervene with us when we are cleaning ourselves. So it`s not like the Holy Spirit leaves us, it just is not actively present.
Sorry, I have to disagree here too. I often pray in the shower. (I have 3 kids and sometimes that’s all the privacy I can get. 😃 )
If you notice somebody with a fetish, then as a devouted Catholic who prayers the precious Rosary everyday, you should know you have a duty to help this victim out by humbly reacting to his weakness. That means, stop wearing heels and pray for him.
:rotfl: If someone who has a fetish is so obvious about his problem that I would actually notice he/she has this fetish I would run away as fast as I can. And stay away! I would agree to pray for this person, but I don’t think I need to let someone else’s problem control how I live my life. I firmly believe in personal accountability.

Honestly, I think I’ll quit now. This is wildly off topic. I’m not even sure how I got sucked into this discussion. 😃 I reread the OP which is about Muslims believing Islam existed before Muhammad. (BTW, it didn’t IMO.)

Yeah, I wrote that Muslims belive Islams message got corrupted, but when I asked for proof no Muslim did and never will.

And Pam I live in Germany, but I am not German. Let me give a brieg biography of myself.

I am actually a Bosnian, who was born in Croatia (because we used to live near the border of Croatia and the hospital was the closest in Croatia). When the war started we moved to Germany when I was 2 years old (like more refugees did) after 6 years, we were kicked out of Germany (so was everybody else who wasnt a legal citizen of Germany). But instead moving back to my homeland, my father decided to move to USA for various reasons. We lived in the US for about 7 and half years, until my dad decided to move back to Germany. So this is where I am currently at, Germany.

So I lived in a Muslim country, share the last name of an Orthodox (because my fathers last name is commonly from Serbia a Orthodox country but he himself was raised Catholic) and have a mom who once was a Orthodox.

Sorry for giving you a headache though, I really didn`t mean to make my posts complicated.

“You really are hung up on how people dress and use it to determine who YOU think is pure.” I can`t determine who is really pure, but it seems to me some Chiristian females who should know better (because they have the fullness of truth) fail to dress modestly like a lot of Muslimas do. That is all. Somebody said purity is at heart which is ture, but purity dose not stay as a secret. A person reflects what is in their soul someway and somehow.

“I still find this insulting. And I’d be willing to bet our muslim friends here do as well.”

Then say so. Don´t tell me Im wrong when I say that. But I do apologize if I offended anybody. However I am not sorry if I said the truth and that caused someone to get offended by my words. But if you people dont want me to say we are the true Muslims, I won`t.

"This coming from someone who thinks muslim women are more pure than Christian women because they wear burkas. "

Wrong, I said I am disgusted at some Christian women by how they dress before the Holy Eucharist. Who am I to say who is more holier? I am just saying the actions of Muslim women might be more pleasing to God then by some actions of Catholic and Christian women.

“Many cultures throughout history have in their belief systems a god who creates. Does that also make them worshippers of the Holy Trinity?”

There are only three world religion that believe in the God of Abraham as far as I know.

"I have every right. How do you know it’s a fact that they worship the same God? "

You have absalutly NO right. I do know they worship, because its in their doctrine. Its like saying Protestants don`t believe in the same Jesus we Catholics do.

I also dont think its the actual Gods law to dress as Muslimas do, but comparing the way they dress to some Christian females, I would say God is more pleased with them.
Sorry, I have to disagree here too. I often pray in the shower. (I have 3 kids and sometimes that’s all the privacy I can get. 😃 ).)
I think that is a serious matter. When Saint Paul said pray always and never cease, I think a person should have an open mind and know when not to pray. For example when a person is doing what a person needs to do in the bathroom. That is just logical sense. My mom has 4 children, I doubt she prays in the shower. If that is all the privacy you can get, ask God to give you more time and space so you can pray when it is appropriate.
:rotfl: If someone who has a fetish is so obvious about his problem that I would actually notice he/she has this fetish I would run away as fast as I can. And stay away! You dont need to let someone elses problem control how you live, but Jesus Christ also did not need to die for us. He could have also believed in our personal accountability and not be send by the Father to die for OUR sins… But yeah, the topic is getting out of hand, so any Muslim that can provide any type of evidence that Islam existed before Muhammad please feel free to do so.🙂

So that puts your age somewhere around16-17-18 (depending on how long you’ve been back in Germany. ?? That would explain alot about the obsession with how women dress. 😛 😃 😃

My dear Benjamin - please be very careful when you reply…

You have clearly stated a reply to me about your background and although I only wanted to know “what country” are you posting from, you gave me your life history in a paragraph. OK - I can deal with that.

However, sir -

Enbedded in your reply to me are things I did not write nor quote.

For those who may be wondering whether or not they can be considered to be a “true Muslim”, I would suggest that they perform a simple test in order to determine their suitability to be a “true Muslim” i.e. they need to pray like the great “true Muslims” of the past:

Genesis 17:3 "And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,"

Genesis 17:17 "Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?"

Exodus 34:8 "And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshipped."

Numbers 16:20-22 "And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment. And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?"

Joshua 5:14 "And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?"

Ezekiel 9:8 "And it came to pass, while they were slaying them, and I was left, that I fell upon my face, and cried, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel in thy pouring out of thy fury upon Jerusalem?"

2 Chronicles 20:18 "And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD."

Ezekiel 11:13 "And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?"

Matthew 17:6 "And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid."

Matthew 26:39 "And he (Jesus) went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."

http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc49/hamba2han/Sajda.jpg?t=1230666024

I would suggest that you do this simple test of praying in the manner of the great “true Muslims” of the past in the privacy of your homes, preferably in the direction of Jerusalem if you like.

If you discover that you do indeed enjoy praying to the Lord in this manner, then this strongly indicates that you may well be a “true Muslim” at heart.

However, if you find that the idea of praying in this manner somewhat repugnant, then you are very likely NOT a “true Muslim”.
Bowing, prostrating, and kneeling when praying is not strange for us Christians.

Praying like you Muslims do is repugnant for us because that’s not how we pray.

Your post looks very deceptive with an element of treachery about it. Don’t blame us Christians when we say that Muslims play trick game and are insincere when you try to promote your Islam.

Now let’s consider what you wrote. You said we’d be true Muslims if we pray in the manner you described according to the Biblical verses you quoted. We do so and by that definition we are true Muslims. But logically and realistically Christians are NOT Muslims! Jesus IS our Lord and Savior and we do NOT believe that Mohammad is a prophet. From what Mohammad believed and taught he was far from that.

I think the OP wanted to go along with this idea concocted by Muslims that a person who submit to God is a Muslim. This definition will cover most believers of any religions available today.

But to be a Muslims strictly means a person who adheres to the teaching of ISLAM. That makes BIG, and I say BIG, difference in belief. Thus not anyone who submits to God may be a Muslim. Not Christians, not Jews definitely.

This inclusive language and doctrine in Islam is plain false and dishonest.

what is the punishment for women who don’t wear hijab/burqa/…?
there is no earthy punishment prescribed in Quran. It’s upto God to punish or forgive them on the Judgment Day. But anyone fears God should cover themselves properly .

If Muslims can pray 5 times daily , can fast the whole month , what could be the reason not to cover properly ? It’s not that our body is dirty (as someone wrote here ) , it’s for modesty , for protection. It will help us to lower our gazes that is a must for both men & women.

Interesting! I always thought that was part of what the religious police in some countries was for - to make sure women were covered and not out unchaperoned and to make sure all Muslims heeded the call to prayer. I will have to look into this some more.
Thank you, Muslim Woman! 👍

Ok, I just found this:
Mutaween in Saudi Arabia
Main article: Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Saudi Arabia)
The Mutaween in Saudi Arabia are tasked with enforcing Sharia as defined by the government, specifically by the Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (CPVPV). The Mutaween of the CPVPV consists of “more than 3,500 officers in addition to thousands of volunteers…often accompanied by a police escort.” They have the power to arrest unrelated males and females caught socializing, anyone engaged in homosexual behavior or prostitution; to enforce Islamic dress-codes, and store closures during the prayer time. They enforce Muslim dietary laws, prohibit the consumption or sale of alcoholic beverages and pork, and seize banned consumer products and media regarded as un-Islamic (such as CDs/DVDs of various Western musical groups, television shows and film). Additionally, they actively prevent the practice or proselytizing of other religions within Saudi Arabia, where they are banned.[2][3]
Among the things the Mutaween have been criticized or ridiculed for include, use of flogging to punish violators,[4][5] banning Valentines Day gifts,[6][7] arresting priests for saying Mass,[8] and being staffed by “ex-convicts whose only job qualification was that they had memorized the Quran in order to reduce their sentences.”[9]
Perhaps the most serious and widely criticized incident attributed to them occurred on March 11, 2002, when they prevented schoolgirls from escaping a burning school in Mecca, because the girls were not wearing headscarves and abayas (black robes), and not accompanied by a male guardian. Fifteen girls died and 50 were injured as a result. Widespread public criticism followed, both internationally and within Saudi Arabia.[10]
In August 2008, a young Saudi woman who had converted to Christianity was burned to death after having her tongue cut out by her own father, a member of the Committee.[11] en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_police
How does this fit in with the Quran then, if there are no punishment for not following the dress code in the Quran? (As an aside, I hope these people were charged with murder!! I see the article says there was widespread public criticism, but it doesn’t indicate if the imams/clerics etc. condemned these actions??? )

…Is Covering the Hair a Religious Commandment for Christian Women?

There can be only one answer to this: yes, it is! Simply open the Bible to the First Epistle to the Corinthians, chapter 11. Read verses 3-10.

…Have you ever wondered why Catholic nuns dress like they’re wearing hijab (Muslim hijabi women, have you ever been mistaken for a nun? I have, more than once).

Have you ever wondered why Mary the mother of Jesus (peace be upon them both) is always depicted in Christian art with her hair covered? Did you know that until the 1960s, it was obligatory for Catholic women to cover their heads in church (then they “modernized” the service)?

muhajabah.com/christianveil.htm

How is a women who follows a law to do something (ie. dress in a burka) holier than anyone else. Next you’ll say hitler was a good guy because he never drank and was faithful to his wife. This argument makes no sense.

And determining someones holiness or devotion to God based on how they dress is fairly judgmental of you.

I completely disagree.

islam means “to submit”. A slave submits to his master. And that is how muslims view their god, as a master. As christians, we are called sons and daughters of God. Our relationship with the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit is far different and far deeper. We are called to have a personal relationship with our God.

No, muslims worship an entirely different god.

Calling Catholics (and Christians in general) “true muslims” is, IMO, an insult.
muslims worship Allah, God of Abraham, Jacob and Isaac, so their God must be the same God Jews and Christians worship. the big difference is the quoran, how it could be true as claimed to have been a revelation to a disillusioned human in the person of mohammed. it’s like watching the same television show where Jews and Christians get a HD reception while the muslims watch a fuzzy reception.😦 they don’t get it right.
God bless.

Sorry - have to disagree with you.

Catholic/Christian nuns are married and devoted to God and Church. They have **NO **husbands, **NO **children, **NO **worldy possessions, they live in a convent, they don’t work at the office **nor **are they stay home moms and prepare dinner for husband and take the kids to school, **NOR **do they submit to a husband in the bedroom.

Please, all of the muslims I know compare the nuns habit to the muslim women wardrobe.

They are two different things. Not the same.
A Nun is a woman who has taken special vows committing her to a religious life. She may be an ascetic who voluntarily chooses to leave mainstream society and live her life in prayer and contemplation in a monastery or convent.
The term “nun” is applicable to Roman Catholics, Eastern Christians, Anglicans, Lutherans, Jains, Buddhists, and Taoists, for example.
While in common usage the terms nun and sister are often used interchangeably, properly speaking a nun is a female religious who lives a contemplative life of prayer and meditation within a monastery while a sister (in the Christian religions) lives an active vocation of service to the needy, sick, poor, and uneducated.

See Pam’s post above mine. 👍

Also, Catholic women (not the religious as noted in the previous post) are not required to wear a chapel veil in church any longer:

With regard to the Code of Canon Law:
The silence of the 1983 code on the topic of women’s head coverings does not imply that they are forbidden to wear them; it simply indicates that they are not obliged to wear them. There’s a big difference! catholicexchange.com/2007/09/06/81126/

This part of the post is not good for the church. Why does the church keep the women unmarried? And they are addressed as “Mothers”. That is all unmarried and being called mothers!. How come? You have all the odd ideas which you want the world to believe while you do not believe in the more sensible things of other religions.

It is cruel and a crime to forbid any one from marraige. It means that marriage is disliked in the beliefs of the church. Jakasaki may explain it please… The Quran mentions that belief of the church (celebacy) but it says that it was not ordained by God. It was practiced by the monks themselves by their own wishes.

Even though these may be two different things but why is church slowly drifting (amending) away from its original practice of ladies covering their heads (and hair). At the same time the church is not coming in support of the muslim women who want to use skarf even.
That means the christians have no real beliefs. Muslim Woman has rightly pointed out to the earlier practice (goo habit) of the nuns covering their hair. That was good practice. Now it has become bad? How come??

First no one forbids anyone from being married.

Nuns take this vow of their own free will.

Nuns are married to the Church, the Church is Christ, So the nuns are called sisters.

A group of Nuns living in a convenant will call the elder or Nun in charge Mother out of respect.
