What did Hitler believe in?

Some theories

Faithful Roman Catholic
Dissadent Roman Catholic
Agnoistic
Atheist
Occultist
Jew?

Please, I want a straight answer. I don’t want dogmatic preaching from atheists saying that Hitler used Christanity to carry out violence, it is clearly eveident that he was a hyprocite (saying he was faithful to Rome but at the same time destroying churches and killing priests)

This is only an opinion based on what i have read about Hitler and the Nazi party. He seemed to me to have some sort of belief in the Old Germanic pagan gods and and occultism, with a touch of Christianity thrown in for flavoring. He was obsessed with symbolism and relics.

I thought he detested Christianity, as the Judeo-Christian concepts of unconditional love, mercy and tolerance of all people went against his desire for a pure-Aryan race?

Pagan comes to mind more than atheist.

I think it’s pretty clear that he was the enemy of Catholicism. There are those who believe that he was into racism as a sort of occult or pagan thing. But if Albert Speer is to be believe in that at least, Hitler didn’t believe in that stuff either. He gives examples of when Hitler made fun of Himmler’s race worship, ersatz Norse paganism and occultism. His belief was that Hitler believed in nothing but himself and his own greatness. But he was capable of pretending to be anything.

Speer is discounted by many, but he had little incentive to portray Hitler as a far more clear-thinking (and deceptive) person than he is generally believed to be. Certainly, if true, it clarifies a lot of things.

At some point he was Catholic. As time went by, the only god he knew was himself. By the time he started ruling Germany, the Catholic side of him was long since gone. He did dabble in the occult and want a return to the old Germanic gods. Even with that, he was the only higher power he accepted.

Adolf Hitler was raised Catholic, and continued to profess Catholicism publicly, and to a great extent privately, for most of his life – at the very least well into his career as chancellor. There is little reason to believe he was not so, other than an entirely understandable desire to have as little in common with the man as possible.

But in any case, he would not be the first bad Catholic, the first ‘reluctant’ or ‘self-loathing’ Catholic, the first totalitarian Catholic, or even the first priest-murdering Catholic to walk the earth. The Church has never held that being Catholic makes anyone any less a sinner: it just gives them a means for forgiveness.

I watched a doco once that Himmler had formed some sort of worshipping ritual in an old castle… cant remember where. And the leaders met there once a week and performed some sort of worship, but they dont know to who or what actually took place there. Hitler was engineering his own religion towards the end of the war also. Its all very weird…

Of the 9 million killed in the holocaust about 3 million were Catholics…he couldn’t have cared for the faith too much.

His religion had a congregation of one- himself

He borrrowed and used and misused parts of a lot of catholicism, Lutherism, occultic and pagan rituals but only to serve himself.

He twisted history to serve his purposes.

He killed in the name of this religion of Self , saying it was all for the Motherland- Germany.

But in reality, it was for Self.

And when Self was defeated, he killed his own god-self.

Hi

It is very strange; the Atheists says and prove that Hitler was a Catholic, and the Catholic say that he was an enemy of the Catholics or Catholicism. Nobdoy wants to own him and want to shift the burden or blame on others. A poor soul.

Thanks

It was said earlier in this thread that he was raised Catholic.

Very obvious he was against any religious teachings.

Just curious…what is your belief on the holocaust?

From what I know, Hitler was an occultist well schooled in the teachings of H.P. Blavatski.

Hitler wasn’t much of a friend to anybody, and later on got just inconsistent enough about his beliefs to be debatable by those who like to debate such things (or who just have an argumentative streak 😊 ). He claimed to have ‘stamped out’ the nascent ‘atheistic movement’ in '28, then several years later was bemoaning the meekness and humility of Christianity.

Does what he believed really matter now? Of course not; like you said, we’ve got more important things to do. But I fear Godwin’s Law isn’t going away anytime soon, and as long as people argue about… well, anything, he’s going to keep getting namedropped in attempts to kill the debate, whether or not he’s relevant.

He definitely believed that Christianity was an inferior and unfortunate religion and did what he could to get rid of it. Of course, any previously Christian church that switched to worshipping him, he allowed. He didn’t care what people did before worshipping him as long as they worshipped him.
To judge a person’s beliefs when that person is slippery about declaring them, it is sometimes necessary to evaluate the beliefs that show through in that person’s actions. Beliefs influence actions.
Christianity: Inconsistent wth murder and theft. Inconsistent with allowing multiple other gods in one’s belief system, even for a show. Inconsistent with ever disavowing Christianity, even for political or practical reasons. Inconsistent with disavowing mercy and charity. Inconsistent with self-worship. Result: Not a Christian.
Paganism: Nordic: Inconsistent with murder and theft. Inconsistent with self-worship. Result: Probably not a Nordic Pagan.
Celtic, Aztec, other Paganisms: Inconsistent with lack of record of worship of gods in other pantheons. For many, inconsistent with murder and theft. For many, inconsistent with self-worship. Result: Probably not another type of Pagan.
Absolutist Atheist: Inconsistent with sometimes declaring beliefs in various religions, as absolutist morality almost always forbids hypocrisy and lying. Inconsistent with murder and theft for same reason. Inconsistent with self-worship.
Relativist Atheism: Consistent with excuse-making as method of rationalizing evil actions, as relativism maintains no moral bounds that hold regardless of excuses.
atheistic satanism: Consistent with all acts. No moral bounds whatever.
theistic satanism: Inconsistent with self-worship and with sometimes claiming atheism.
Verdict: atheist, either satanic or relativist.
QED.

Roy Shoeman in his book Salvation is from the Jews gives an excellent build up of Hitlers Occult religion. Hitler incorporated many different idealogies to create his own religion where He was God.

As did Stalin, Hitler believed in the cult of self. He used or abused the religion of others to fulfill his own needs.

A lot of atheists use Hitler to discredit the Catholic Church, saying that only we could produce such an evil man. They ignore Stalin (R.O.), Pol Pot, and others who were pretty bad, and in some ways worse. It is clear from history that Hitler left the faith and was, in the end, anti-CAtholic, anti-Christian, and anti-anyone but him.

German Nazi ideology was pagan-occultist, definitely anti-catholic. Hitler persecuted the CC, Germans killed many priests, eg Maximilian Kolbe in Auschwitz. It’s very likely Hitler had a Jewish grandfather (also other main German officers had Jewish ancestors). He wasn’t atheist, German soldiers had “Gott mitt uns” (God with us) on their belts.

Thanks for the thread

I had some non denominational protestant come to my door a couple of months ago and ask me if I knew Jesus. I told him, of course I know Jesus, I’m Catholic.

He point blank told me that I was going to Hell b/c Hitler was Catholic and he went to Hell…What? lol What kind of insane logic is that? When I did a psychological analysis of Hitler for my undergraduate studies I found no mention of Catholicism…just agnosticism among other things.

Doesn’t matter if he was Catholic or not…doesn’t mean I’m going to Hell or doesn’t mean I’m not.

Ignorant people…sigh
