The Holy Shroud of Turin, one of the most venerated objects of Christianity, was made by Italian pre-Renaissance artistic great Giotto, an Italian expert says.

Luciano Buso, who has written a book on his sensational claim, says several veiled appearances of the number 15, hidden in the fabric by the artist, indicate Giotto created the shroud in 1315.

This would coincide with carbon dating, contested by religious experts, which dates the shroud to the early 14th century, Buso contends.

weird.

15 = made in Italy in 1315? I don’t get it

Where is it signed, and how wouldn’t people notice that before? Sounds ridiculous.
If it wasn’t meant to be a hoax, why was the signature “hidden” then?

How did he make it then? I’ll tell you, the God haters never rest! :rolleyes: Rob

And why would the should have real human blood on it?
What about the pollen granules that are in the cloth fibers from plants that are only found in Israel?

How did this book get published again?

I agree.

But why exactly 1315? Why not 1215, 1115, 1015, or even AD 15? I’ve gotta ask that. 🤷

Because they need it for their argument to work. 😉
Personally, I find all these claims about inscriptions being on the Shroud to be rather dodgy. A while ago, someone claimed to find writing which was then used to bolster the Shroud’s authenticity (which I don’t really buy), now someone else comes up, claiming to find another writing on the cloth, and uses it as an attack on the Shroud!

If we take the Pray Codex as proof that the Shroud had already existed at the time the codex was written (1192-1195 and later), I don’t see why they need to stick with 1315: AD 1215 (or earlier) is equally viable IMHO. 😉

Every few years these claims pop up to disapprove the authenticity of the shroud but they can never explain all the unique facets of it and gloss over those many.It;s authenticity is of no moment to Faith but I do believe it is the burial shroud of Christ as there are a myriad of clues that no painter of the 12th century would have the wherewithall nor knowledge nor technique,nor foresight to "plant’.More tomb of Jesus bumph that was supposed to destroy Christianity that was discredited within moments of it;s release.
