There can be multiple definitions of the word. Oil is hydrophobic without being afraid of water. It also means averse to
 
I know a heck of a lot of people…and you’d think if it was a real thing…a preponderance deserving a name…I would have run across one…and I’ve asked some of my friends…and they too can’t think of any of their friends.

This thread isn’t about your or someone else’s opinion.

It’s about the pervasive marketing scheme designed to curry favor and serve as a political truncheon.

It’s about the Cardinal’s article and point.

And it’s this pervasively bad thinking about the purpose of our sexuality and the nature as persons that has led to all sorts of confusion, mental illness, and suicide.

There is an entire global history of prejudiced attitudes, discriminatory behavior, punishment, and murder with regard to homosexuals in a variety of cultures that dates back to antiquity. It’s all been recorded by historians, both modern and ancient. To say that homophobia did not and does not still exist can be likened to the denial or revisionist theories of slavery and the Holocaust.

Well surely most of this could be attributed to a fear of homosexuals?
 
Fear and hatred and ignorance: all three of these processes are intertwined.
 
Homophobia should mean fear of them since phobia means fear in Greek. Being called a homophobic really is more a diss these days.
 
You literally must be living under a rock for you believe that. Your side is totally loosing the cultural war it’s obvious. Do you really believe things are about to shift and countries will start outlawing gay marriage again?

true. I was conversing with a Christian who said people like me (who have SSA) are savage animals. He didn’t realize I had SSA. But hey, that’s life 🙂

Well, tough to say, but since the Church is eternal, has been around far longer than the countries in question and most likely will outlive all of them… 😉
 
God doesn’t lose battles

I’m sure in the first 300 years of the Catholic Church some whiny person said “you’re losing the battle”.
 
Do you maybe mean God doesn’t loose wars? If not, how has the battle to keep gay marriage illegal not been lost?

Not quite. “Phobos” means “aversion” in Greek. The English word “fear” can overlap with that somewhat, but not in all meanings of the word.

The Greek word for fear in the sense you mean is “deimos”.
