Amen. Learn to Separate the person from the ideology you assume they support and you may be shocked to find Christ in them!!

Ed, what you’re really affirming is that family is part of God’s creation. No one denies that.

It would be better to say the church is itself a family. But that everyone is called to be married and have children is clearly not the case.

Actually what I am saying is much stronger.

I am saying all things exist for the family. Everything. Gravity, math, engineering, chemistry, the Sacraments, grace, sexuality, our intellect.

All of these things serve the good of the family, new souls for God.

Okay, so tell us.

How would you like gay people to “serve the family”?

What don’t you think is true? And give me your reasoning why you think it’s not true.

“A society in which marriage is the only way for adults to pledge lasting love and care to one another is a society in which marriages themselves are weaker. It is a society in which parents have less help, children fewer havens. It is a society in which many adults feel themselves isolated, drifting and useless. It can also be especially challenging environment for single people hoping to marry eventually, or for individuals who remain unmarried, including gay and lesbian Christians trying to live out church teaching on sexuality.“

Amen. From Eve in the above article.

There needs to be interior peace and serenity…at least strong movements to it.
People need help to get here and remain here. Ignoring their suffering does not aid them in their walk with Christ.
There is no dialog about changing truths.
And apparently, there is also no dialogue about truth. For instance, the truth that SSA, in and of itself, is not a sin.
Our nature is the same as it ever was, and will always be.
And there have always been people with SSA. At every point in recorded history.
You can’t live peacefully outside of the truth. You don’t get to make up your own truths, such as a gender, or a set of deviant attractions.
Except that the church says that it is truth that having SSA is not, in and of itself, sinful.

It sounds like you just want us to ignore the fact that members of the body of Christ are struggling in their walk with Christ, and suffering injustices at the hands of people who hate them for the way they experience attraction.

That sounds uncompassionate. Some might the antidote to hate is compassion.

I don’t believe what you espouse to be the purpose of the Catholic (universal, remember) Church. It is a closed minded approach, and nothing I ever learned in all of my studies or upbrining. I am not going to debate it with you, because you clearly aren’t interested in being open minded about much, I have noticed.

People do need help.
They need graces from God, which the Church literally sprays at them in so many ways.

But people need to wake up and struggle, realizing that all real happiness comes from sacrifice in one form or another.

There is no true and lasting happiness without interior struggle.

SSA is a truth in the same way that a gambling addiction is truth; both are disordered attractions.

Yes, there have always been people who have let their attractions drive their behavior. Peace. Truth. I agree.

Everything the Church does is ordered to serve the family.

The sacraments provide the fuel and healing.
The Church provides sound teaching and criteria, all designed to help the family.

The Church teaches that the family is the fundamental cell of society.

You need to be more specific…what am I am saying is not Chuch teaching?

What is not true is that all Catholics on this forum are compassionate. Not all follow the words of Jesus. Not all care about the well being of their brothers and sisters. Not all are ignorant of the damage that their ill formed and uneducated posts do. Not all are examples of what good Catholic should actually be. In fact, what a decent person should be. Not all Catholics here are the type of people you would be ashamed to be associated with.

When Jesus said “go and sin no more” was that not compassionate?

just because my way isn’t to hand every person I meet a tissue box, doesn’t mean that my intent or words aren’t compassionate.

To will the greatest good of some person is true compassion…to fast for people here who don’t know me is compassion, to pray for them is compassion.

But my way isn’t to lead every conversation with a tissue box, fudging the truth, telling them “to keep sinning”.

“Go and sin no more… and don’t be homophobes.”

We can have it both ways.

“This thorn in my side is a grace… for because of it the flesh and blood of God was offered in my place”

Matt Maher - Empty and Beautiful

Jesus said “go and sin no more” after he had first loved and forgiven. He didn’t say you will only be loved and forgiven by me if you “ go and sin no more”. it wasn’t a prerequisite of Him loving the person.

The problem as I see it from what you’ve posted, is that sexuality is NOT as important as society believes it is these days. Those who struggle with temptations, whether homosexual or heterosexual, are encouraged to seek chastity and purity by praying and receiving the Sacraments. Finding a good priest for Confession and spiritual direction also helps a great deal. Temptations are a part of everyone’s life. We can find solace in St. Paul when he prayed to the Lord to remove the “thorn in his flesh” and Our Lord answered, “My grace is sufficient unto thee.”
