Why must some CAF contributors immediately (when they run out of intelletual argument…rational material) turn everything into a personal assault?

Why is it? What in their education is lacking?

I don’t get why a group that makes up less than 3% of the population gets so much attention.

Totally.

I do like the fact that all such groups now see the “compensatory” effects of each other…all vying for attention.

Far from being additive…it’s now become substractive, finally!

Because I’m gay and I’ve experienced more than enough homophobia. Both online and in the real world.

They wouldn’t be struggling if they’d keep it to themselves. A gay person should be able to go their whole life and no one know who they’re attracted to.

I agree with all of this.

Homophobia exists.

But simply adhering to traditional Christian teaching on sex and marriage is not homophobia.

Problem with some folk, including on this thread, is they group it all together: All gays are this or that way, all pro-gay activists are this and that way, all gays are anti-church and anti-Catholic…

Ah yes, all my homosexual friends are actively conspiring to take down the Catholic Church!

Not…

Most are everyday people just trying to make it through life like everyone else, including doing some serious soul-searching and church hopping, like the rest of us…

Any attack on the good of marriage, is an attack on the Catholic Church.

Any attack on a faithful Catholic priest is an attack against the duly-appointed shepherds Christ has given to us and the office they embody.

LOL, just another Catholic identifying homosexuals as sinners.

Yes, that’s the way we ought to go…

I think it’s clear that this thread is not simply about the technicality of the definition of “homophobia.”

There is a serious problem with Christians, even on CAF, who diminish the experiences and sufferings of LGBT persons — Christians who stereotype them, who simply cast them aside as other and sinner, who call them enemies of God and the Church.

This thread clearly has no aim to help the good of LGBT persons.

This thread is clearly about triumphantly shouting doctrine, at best.

Not so. Luther was a priest.

No one is above criticism; the pope included himself in this assertion this week.

But others: note the tired use of “attack”. Every criticism needs to be elevated verbally into an attack…into homophobia.

This point further proves my point. Thanks.

Depends. If the sexual faculty is used deviantly then it’s a sin.

Homophobia technically means fear of gays, not just hatred of them.
