Great. For you. And St. Paul for that matter. But how dare you ask that of me! If you’re content with your decision that’s good. And I’m content with mine. I am a 28 yr old single male who will remain so until I meet the guy of my dreams.

Yes I do disagree with the church, because it disagree’s with scripture.

And I don’t want your sympathy or your understanding, ironically it makes me very angry!
What scriptures exactly are you talking about Tru?No need to be angry. We’re just having a discusion.

Kolbe300 I have a question for you. If the church were to change its teaching and become more harmionious with scripture, would you change yours?

Okay, I’ve said this before, but I don’t mind saying it again. The first scriputre that’s used to condemn gay people is the infmaous biblical account of Sodom and Gommorah, found in Genesis chapter 19. I have a problem with some of the lessons that people have preceived from this account.

Individuals are indeed forced to be celibate, if they find no one to marry. Think of the ones who really can’t, simply because no one will marry them. There are such people.
But what you seem to be forgetting is that the opportunity is always there. Not so for same-sex couples.

Yes, I know the one. It’s where the angels visiting Lot are threatened by the men of the town. They want to have their way way with them, and Lot offers the crowd His daughters to abuse instead.I’ve heard this scene is more an example of a breech of hospitality than homosexual rape.I’ve read several different discusions of this scripture but I don’t know if there is only one correct interpretation. There certainly are many other scriptures that exsplicitly talk about homosexual acts being sinful though. Not to mention the church’s constant teaching on morality from the begining

So do you agree with using this story to condemn homosexuality?

I have to admit, whether the story is meant to condemn homosexuality or not,it sure puts the inhabitants of sodom in a bad light.I don’t know what the churches interpretation is on this scripture, but until I had heard the idea of inhospitality being the sin of sodom,I’d always thought that it referred to homosexuality.Frankly that would still be my bet now unless someone corrects me.

You’re right it does. And thankfully one dosen’t have to rely on an interpretation to discover what their sin was. Because God himself provided the very first commentary as to why they were destroyed. Read Ezeikel all of chapter 16. Specifically focusing on verses 48-50.

Not to be specialy dense but Ezekiel16 talks about the abomination of Jerusalem.Killing babies as offerings to idols.Anyway one does need to rely on an interpretation I’m no experton the bible it’s the Church’s bookThere is all kinds of teaching about what the bible says.

Did you read the all of chapter 16? If not at least verses 48-50?

I didn’t ask anything of you but a recommendation to pray and ponder what God may be asking of you. I reached out to you in kindness, and this is how you respond?

Hopefully I can put you at ease by telling you that you don’t have my “sympathy”. You have my prayers, whether you want them or not. I’m sorry if that makes you angry.

I believe the Church is completely harmonious with scripture, so I’m not holding my breath for changes on this subject. However, I consider and pray about anything the Church teaches now and I will in the future.

I’ve watched your debates with regards to scripture and homosexual acts (specifically the Sodom one). The thing is, I don’t need to debate any scripture on homosexuality at all. I only have to look at scripture with regards to the sacrament of marriage. Scripture is quite clear that it is between a man and a woman. I also believe it’s quite clear that the sexual act is for the sacrament of marriage. I find the scriptures on marriage much harder to “debate” then those on homosexual acts and how the greek, hebrew, etc. are translated.

I’m sorry that my first post to you made you angry. I’m trying to be as kind as possible and meant no offense. I’d be glad to continue a conversation as long as it isn’t an angry one.

Peace!

Yes. Talking about what a whore Jerusalem is running off with other lovers after all God’s done for her.Just like her sisters samaria and sodom.

It’s like approaching someone who’s black and politely telling them they have the mark of Cain. And assuring them of your prayers and sympathy. It’s not encouraging.

But I do undertand that you meant well. So on that note, I thank you!

49:the guilt of your sister sodom and her daughters they wre proud sated with food gave no help to the poor and needy became haughty and commited abominations in my presence. So what has this to do with anything we are talking about?

Are you able to elaborate or make a point? how does this excruciating dialogue have anything to do with your oppression by the Church or the Bible or society or whatever.Over your homosexuality?
