The Church looks upon two Lesbians cohabitating and fornicating as unrepentent sin.

Being a Protestant is not a sin.

Committing a sin is not the same as publicly living in unrepentent sin.

This is gross immorality in the eyes of the Church.

Anyone, living a life of unrepentent sin, is not what the Church (or the parents) want for their child’s Catholic education. The “attitude” of an unrepentent sinner is bound to spill over in unconscious ways, yet influential to children.

Perhaps the teacher is very righteous about her “lifestyle,” and has not the slightest twinge of conscience. It would be remarkable if she sued the school without this self-justifying attitude. So be it.

She has put her cards on the table. She opposes the morality of the Church.

Being a sinner, or a Protestant is not like that. If anyone opposes the morality of the Catholic Church, on whatever grounds, they should find employment with another suitable employer. A public school would pay more and have no issue with her “lifestyle.” Because to a public school it is merely a lifestyle.

Why didn’t this teacher find work with an Anglican School? She might be principal there someday. She had options.

About twenty years after the fact, I learned that the most popular 8th grade teacher at my Catholic elementary school was gay. Like many others, I’m sure, I was incapable of making such a determination as an 8th grade student. Knowing the truth now, it doesn’t bother me. He was a phenomenal teacher, well loved and respected by students and faculty alike. His effect on my life was nothing but 100% positive. He was such a devout Catholic that, if I had to guess, I’d say he very likely maintained a chaste lifestyle. God bless his soul.

Sounds like homophobia! You can’t provide a straight answer!
Ok, I will. Regardless of the public sin, by living in it you are sending a message to the children…that you disagree with Church teaching, that it is okay to live in that sin.

Do you believe the Church should allow for gay marriage? Do you believe that acting out on one’s homosexual tendencies is not a sin?

What does this story have to do with gay marriages? How do the students know that she is gay? So what if she is. The CCC says that we are to treat homosexuals with dignity and respect. How does anybody know whether or not she was having sex? So many assumptions in this thread.

So you believe the Catholic church is homophobic???
Again, it a matter of treating homosexuals with dignity and respect. It’s not that the Church is homophobic, but its institutions, such as a school in this case.

You sir are the one not giving straight answers. It’s exactly what I thought would happen.

This happens over and over again in these fora.

Oh, and she admits that she is her “partner” (not friend, partner):

Hale, who had spent 19 years teaching at Bishop Watterson High School, said the decision to acknowledge her partner was not immoral.

The Bishop fired her. He represents the Church. This has nothing to do with treating homosexuals with respect and dignity.

And from the article in another thread on this matter:

[Bishop] Campbell said earlier in the day that Hale was not fired because of her sexual orientation but because her “quasi-spousal relationship” with another woman violates the church’s moral teaching. He said Hale violated a teacher contract and Roman Catholic Diocese of Columbus policy that prohibits immoral behavior and requires employees to follow general church tenets.

Apparently the Bishop knows that this isn’t just a roommate or a friend.

What has shocked me on this case is that they fired her based on a city ordinance. If a city passed an ordinance forbidding synagogues to be built or papers publishing anything negative about the government it would not be allowed to continue. This law is a senseless as Texas talking about arresting federal agents who enforce any new gun laws. In fact, it is crazier because it is a city defying constitutional law.

Not only is this not homophobia, but homophobia is not homophobia.

Not only is this not homophobia, but homophobia is not homophobia.
Homophobia, like racist, is one of those terms so overused that it really has no meaning anymore. it is a loaded term designed to stop discussion

What about equality, LOVE, dignity and respect. Homophobia lacks all these things. I would welcome her as a teacher as long as she carried out her job satisfactory.

Right, it is a meaningless term used by leftists in an effort to promote the gay agenda.

You’re being ridiculous. Are you saying there’s no such thing as homophobia? Please provide your definition of the word.

Actually the clinical definition of homophobia is "one who fears homosexuals’ There are fewer homophobics in this country than there are homosexuals. She was fired for violating the terms of her contract. You can welcome her to any school you want as long as it is not a catholic school.

Where did you see this? I thought it was based on her employment contract.
