Again, that is pretty much covered in the articles I linked.
I looked over the articles you linked me and I have no idea what you mean when you say that that is covered in them. My last statement wasn’t even a question.

By the way, I would be interested in hearing how you would respond to some of the questions I raised in my first post in this thread. I wasn’t trying to start a debate about gay marriage; I was just wondering what basis you use for determining what students should be taught in public schools regarding morality. You seem to be steering this conversation away from that. I’m okay with discussing whatever, but I would still be interested in hearing your thoughts on my first post in this thread, as well as the thoughts of anyone else reading this.

A very interesting litmus test to the homosexual culture would be to make half the counties in a couple of states completely homosexual with any laws and any social structure they want. I would be willing to just stand back and watch what happens to such unabridged homosexual cultures. I bet it would only take a couple of decades to see the effects of a full homosexual society and culture. Watching how they survive socially, economical, long term health-care and socially.🍿

Who would survive and thrive a culture with 0% homosexuals or the 100% homosexual culture? Interesting.:hmmm:

A simple answer - the truth.

*Well, for one thing, birth rates would seriously drop, unless they went to sperm/egg donors. But, if they did not do that, obviously we’d see a dip in that.

Economically, it has been proven that homosexuals make on average a higher income than hetersexuals. Namely men. Not sure why that is, but they are HIGHLY successful in the business world. I think that morally, we would see things change. But, there are many homosexuals who have a strong faith in God, and are “practicing” Christians. It might be a hard one to truly gauge.

Plus, heterosexuals have high divorce rates, and many couples live together before marriage…just because someone is heterosexual, doesn’t mean he/she is moral by any stretch of the imagination. Our culture as a whole…due to its lack of following God as its compass and moral Guide, is failing on many levels. I do think it would be an interesting experiment, but because our culture in general has grown indifferent to morality, I don’t think we’d see high levels of morality on the heterosexual side, over the homosexual side. Homosexuality in and of itself is a sin, heterosexuals having premarital sex, and cohabitating is also immoral–so from a morality perspective, we might not see many differences. Does God judge a homosexual harsher than a heterosexual who is sinning sexually? I don’t know. *

There is a huge difference between knowing something is wrong and failing to live up to it rejecting the good and not even caring about it.

*I agree–you and I try to live our lives, growing in holiness with what the Lord expects. We believe in objective morality, but not everyone does believe in that. We live in the land of relativism, it seems. *
Also…there are many heterosexuals who do NOT know living together and having sex before marriage is wrong. They don’t. They think that as long as they are in love, or not hurting anyone, etc…then what’s the harm. I don’t believe all heterosexuals who are sinning sexually, call it sin, is my point. Likewise, many homosexuals live the same way. I don’t believe ALL homosexuals wake up each day, and say to the Lord, I don’t care about your teachings, I’m gonna do things my way. Again, I think that their morality has grown subjective, and yes, on some level they reject Christian teachings about homosexuality. But, on some level, so do many heterosexuals who live their lives in sexually sinful lifestyles. I am merely pointing out that just because someone is heterosexual…doesn’t mean that will guarantee that he/she will make moral choices. I don’t mean to come off as obtuse. :o

And that’s kind of the point, right? Their is no natural way for a homosexual culture to survive and move forward by natural law. Less than 3% of the population is homosexual. The only way such a culture can grow is to educate heterosexuals children to thinking this “is not that bad”. Just think how our own children might be if they had been educated since First Grade or Kindergarden that homosexuality was fine and just as good as being heterosexual?

Hey–that’s an interesting point GD, I hadn’t thought of that. :ehh: Good points!!

Agreed. These are the fruits of moral relativism and removing God from our government, schools and lives.

Didn’t a very wise and kind(and cute) Mom once say that “Grey was the devils favorite color”?😉

I wasn’t saying that we should abandon procreation as a reason for intercourse. I was just saying that people can do it for other purposes. For example, intercourse can strengthen the marital bond. It can also give people pleasure. It’s not like we need to pick one purpose and decree that people can only have sex for that purpose.
What are the meager pleasures of this life compared to those which await?

I’ve often thought that the income thing might be based on the level of education received. In my experience in that world (some 10 years) I didn’t meet a lot of uneducated people. Most of the men and women in that lifestyle were college educated, many with advanced degrees. More education means more financial opportunity.

I also think a lot of people “come out” and begin living that lifestyle in college. In the world of generational poverty like my students live in, where community is everything you’ll find hardly any college (or high school) graduates; and the homosexual lifestyle is not accepted. And you’ll find few if any people practicing that lifestyle – because survival in poverty is all about the community (family and friends) and this community won’t accept it.

God help the government official who tries to put a “homosexual awareness day” into these schools!

I would think that culpability would play a huge difference here. If someone is living in sin of any sort, there may very well be reasons that God alone knows – childhood abuse, emotional hurts or stress, confusion, years of training (by family) to ignore Church teaching, a lifetime of never knowing or valuing Church teaching (such as people of other faiths or no faith), or things like mental illness. Some of those things certainly played into my leaving and staying away from the Church for so many years.

What it comes down to is that God, and God alone, can judge the heart of a person. Our job is to tell the Truth in love. How we tell the Truth may look different for each person, but we must never give into the temptation of judging one sinner as greater than another. In the end, God’s Love is infinite for each of us sinners, and I thank Him for it!

My kids are either being homeschooled or going to Catholic School.

That would amount to ostracizing homosexuals and would probably invite comparisons to leper colonies, South Africa’s apartheid policies and Jewish people being sent to live in ghettos during times when they were less than welcome in society.

What in the world is that teacher thinking asking elementary school kids to have a “discussion” about homosexuals. How in the world could any elementary school kid even begin to understand the issue of homosexuality? That is just so inappropriate to ask kids that young to think about such things.
Hrm. Well I suppose the logic behind it is that if a child is capable of grasping the notion of a man being married to a woman, or a man and a woman raising children and starting a family, that they should also be capable of grasping the notion of marriage and starting a family between 2 people of the same sex.

Not saying you should agree with it, but it’s really not as out of line as you’re making it sound (other than the fact that it goes against your beliefs).

Actually, that last part is the point of my own objection to a “gay awareness day” at an elementary level. The school does not get to decide what values my family will or will not embrace. I get to educate my child in the beliefs that our family holds. The public schools have no place in that.

Asking young children to engage in conversations about homosexuality is outside their own understanding. Adults (preferably their parents) must give them a foundation from which to understand the eternal meaning of different types of relationships. To make same-sex relationships simply an equivalent to heterosexual marriage is a judgment call that is reserved to the family at that age. And young children cannot grasp the complexities of the emotional and psychological factors that play into the choice of same-sex relationships (from my own experiences – been there, done that).

So rather than making the fact that this goes against my own beliefs an aside (“other than the fact that it goes against your beliefs”), **I would make that the main case **for why the public schools should back keep these sorts of discussions out of the elementary schools.

Okay. Firstly, I think your reaction is a little extreme. A good parent will be able to tell their child that whilst we do not judge, this is not what we personally believe, surely?

In addition, it is a good idea in my opinion, for children to be taught not to discriminate against homosexuals. Disciminating openly against anyone is wrong, and not what Jesus taught. We all have sins, so whether you believe homosexuality is a sin or not, it should not be the focus of any resentment or dislike.

However, this stuff about ‘two moms’ etc is a step too far. Children should be allowed to understand that biology requires a mother and a father, whether they are then taught that some children are RAISED by same sex couples or not.

HOWEVER, this video doesnt actually speak about sex does it? I dont think it is wrong for children to be aware that homosexual couples exist (as in same sex couples who care a great deal for each other in the same way a mummy and daddy do.) Your own views on the morality of such couples can supplement this kind of information, but I dont think the awareness of gay relationships existing is wrong - they do, and to pretend otherwise is just lying to your kids.

I raise my kids to discriminate against good acts and evil acts.
