How big a family did you come from?

i came from a family of 9 girls—2 died in infancy (one at 5 months & one at 5 years) so seven of us grew up–i was number 4 or number 2 (as the oldest 2 died young).
 
I am the oldest of 4:) I am 26 My Sisters are 9 and 6 and my Brother is 8:P
My parents are divorced:( though my Sisters are being raised Catholic and I just came into the Church this year.
I am my brothers Godparent… and am still working on that one…🙂
I am having my First little bundle in October and we don’t plan on waitting very long to help God make the Second:) and Third and Fourth…

I’m #2 of 5 and the only girl. My brothers, Matthew, Mark, Steve, and John, all left the church, sadly. Maybe Mom and Dad should have named Steve “Luke” instead…
 
Here is a humorous story about my father of nine. On one occasion he and Mom took all nine of us children to Cypress Gardens in Florida. As part of the day’s activities we attended one of the water shows. One event involved selecting a spectator from the audience to participate, and the selection criteria was the father who had the most children. Eventaully Dad and another man were the only two left standing, so each man was given the challenge to name off his nine children, in order, in 30 seconds or less. All of us kids figured that Dad’s victory was in the bag, since as part of our nightly prayers we asked God to bless each child by name. Dad was selected to go first. The clock was started and he got about two or three names into the list and drew a blank. It was definitely a case of being put on the spot in front of hundreds of people. Needless to say Dad was the chosen spectator. Over the years of reminiscing we have brought up that story many times to tease Dad about the time he forgot who his children were. 🙂

I think that it doesn’t matter how many children you have many parents will always forget their names. I was one of 4 and my mother use to call me be all my brother and sisters names and when I would complain she would say I bet you do it when you have children.

I now have 6 children and I do it too. I tell my kids the same thing.

I am the 2nd oldest of 9 I have 5 brothers and 3 sisters, my husband is the youngest of 3. My father however was the oldest of 13 and his father was in the middle of 9. I love a big family.

5 girls–2 boys

Mom lost her first. It was a boy. She also had a misscarriage threes after she had me. We would have been 9.

My mom comes from a family of 9 and she always wanted to out do her mother and have ten, LOL. But, her mom won that race.😉
 
Cathy did they ever say why they did not name him Luke?

That would have been perfect.
 
I am the oldest of three kids…I have two younger (but taller) brothers and a cousin who I consider my prother. I was really not raised as the oldest child, but rather that my brothers were older (we are 1 1/2 years apart)
 
I’m the youngest of nine, 7 girls, 2 boys. I’m the youngest by a lot: my 8 sibs were born in the space of 11 1/2 years, and I was born a further 11 1/2 years later. Surprise! Mom was 46, and Dad was 49.
 
My parents could not have children so they adopted me and eight years later adopted my brother. Two babies snatched from the beast of abortion!
 
I’m the youngest of 5. I have four brothers. The youngest brother is 12 years older than I am, so I have some of the only child traits. The first question I used to get asked when someone was told I was the “baby” was, “Are you spoiled?” Or they would just say, “I bet you were spoiled.” I never thought I was, but looking back maybe I was a little. 😛
 
I was the oldest of 4. I only have 2 (adopted) but God willing I’ll have more!
 
I’m an only child. Mom and Dad are both 2nd-youngest in 7-kid families, and they planned on having a half-dozen. After two years of trying they finally had me, and then they were never able to have another.

My husband is the older of two. We’re trying for our first now and hope to have at least three (I hope for more than that, he’s still freaked out by the idea of more than three so we’ll leave it at that for now…). 😉
 
It is so good to see such big families…! I’m afraid I only have one sibling…a brother. He is 13 months younger than I. I always wanted more…my parents are Lutheran and they had their boy and girl…they were done. My mom’s family had 7 and my father’s had 5…couldn’t figure out why they didn’t want more.
My husband is 5 of 6 (5/6 are twins). His parents came from families of 4 and 5. We have three children and have had 2 miscarriages… It’s up to God if we have a larger family.

I’m the oldest of 2 but not because my parents didn’t want a large family…8 years between my brother and I…and 3 miscarriages between…Had host of cousins though 30 on my maternal side…11 on my paternal side. Loved to spend time with their big families and am thrilled to have 6 of my own even if most people think we’re crazy!
 
Well, I hate to break the chain of big families, but it was just me. The folks tried, but couldn’t get things going, so they picked me up overseas.(I think it was a clearance sale, and I was duty free).

(as in the above post, I have a HOST of cousins; my dad is 12th of 13 siblings, and my mom has nine brothers.)
 
I am the eldest of 4. My Dad wanted more kids (he is the Catholic) my Mum didnt (she isnt Catholic). I have a 5 year old Son and would love heaps of kids but i dont think it is going to happen. Sue.
