How can a person know that they are truly walking according to God's will?

God does not hide His will for regenerate people, but for the unregenerate; it will remain hidden. Look at Israel. Once you know and do, then any decision you make will be according to God’s will. So questions like, who should I marry, what school should I attend or what job should I accept becomes a simple decision. So as far as discernment is important; but in light of what God tells us, it is not very complicated, but impossible to discern for unregenerate people, which are of the many.
I will let God seperate the sheep from the goats. What did Israel do wrong … if they were so unsuccessful the Messiah would not have come? That is another thread … but your comparsion is just plain wrong.

Then according to Scripture, if you do not know the will of God for you, then you prove you are foolish.

So, finding God…through Jesus’ is the path to take.
Be rightious, not self rightious.

Also, to find true self…true love…only comes from the Lord.

Listen to the truth…and walk the path…be wise. Listen, Listen, and listen again.
God Bless,

**So which truth will you listen to? The Biblical or Catholical? **
They are one and the same. Scripture when properly interpreted, never contradicts Catholic teaching. Catholic teaching never contradicts Scripture. The Bible is a Catholic book. It was put together by the Catholic Church. Jesus told the Apostles to go out and teach. He never told them to go out and write a book so that every person can buy any version they wish (whether it be true to the original writer’s true meaning and intent or not), pray for guidance, and then automatically discern the correct interpretation just because they want to.

Instead Jesus gave His authority to the Catholic Church. This one Church has the final say in matters of faith, morals, worship practices, and Scripture interpretation because it received its authority from Jesus.

Obeying the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ consists of obeying His commandments and producing good fruit and obeying Church leaders because they represent Jesus’ authority on earth.

2 Corinthians 13:10 “Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the authority which the Lord has given me for edification and not for destruction.”

Titus 2:15 “Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.”

Hebrews 13:7 " Remember those** who rule over you**, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."

Hebrews 13:17 “Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.”

Jesus founded a Church and appointed its leaders. These leaders appointed other leaders to carry on the faith, and this has continued for two thousand years in the Catholic Church. (2 Timothy 2:2)

If you want to know if you are truly walking according to God’s will in matters of faith and morals, worship practices, and Scripture interpretation; then listen to His Church, the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church which will continue until He returns at His Second Coming. (Matthew 28:19-20, Matthew 16:17-19, John 16:12-14, Acts 9:31)

The Lord said to the Apostles and the seventy disciples whom He appointed: "He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.” Luke 10:2-16

If you wish to do the will of God in spiritual matters, then listen to His Church and obey.

Blessings,
SHW

What you fail to see here is that the Catholic position is the only truly Biblical position.

Just because you quote from the Bible does not mean your position is Biblical. You see, other parts of the Bible contradict your position.

The only way your position can be Biblical is if it is supported by whole of Scripture and not just a few verses here and there.

And unfortunately it is not.

Yadie yadie yada…two things that contradict each other cannot be both true. You can keep telling yourself the two are not contradictive and you will never come to know the God of the Bible. I’d prefer to listen to Jesus and treat Him as the Lord and my King.

I did not make false accusations against you. I made a statement that your belief (which is general protestant belief) is not supported by the entrie Scripture.

For example: Sola Scriptura and Sola Fide which you hold to are not supported by scripture (this I have shown you in this and other threads)

Your understanding of predestination is not supported by the whole of scripture although there are some passages that does support it.

And no I did not make false accusations against the Lord. It is arrogance and the height of conceit to think that any negative comments about your belief is a negative comment about the Lord.

Actually, it is not just conceit, it is a delusion.

You have apportioned the Lord to yourself as if He was your private property.

How can Jesus be your Lord and your King when you muzzle Him every time He speaks something that contradicts your understanding of the Bible?

The answer should be the same shouldn’t it? If the Catholic teaching is in line with Scripture as Catholics claim.
No, it doesn’t have the same implications. The other way the question could be posed would be “are you following your vocation?” Ie. firefighter, priest, pastor, nurse, doctor, etc. It means combining your own personal interests, skills, and gifts that God gave you (and not someone else) to follow His calling. Yours and mine would be different.

I don’t have healing skills that I know of, so even if pursuing a nurse or doctor career is a very good thing, that may not be my calling or God’s Will for me. And I know I would feel very uncomfortable doing it. Why? Because I’ve already tried it and it turned out disastrous, especially in my spiritual life. I did it originally becase I thought that’s what God wanted, not becuase I had an interest in it or it paid well. I’m at a relatively boring job now that pays a decent wage, though more meager than I would like, and I’m more content and at peace than I was prior to this in a branch of the healing sciences. It gives me a better chance to focus on God and read more and meditate on Him and pray more than previously. So I know this is where He wants me now.

That’s what I meant.

Obviously we are to follow what Jesus said. But Jesus didn’t tell us all to be firefighters.

Exactly opposite. The answer should be that Scripture is in line with the Catholic Church’s teaching. Which it is.

You speak for Jesus, now, do you? On what authority?

Knowing God’s will.#6 (last one)

**God’s will for you - this is his will for your life, that you be saved, that you be spirit-filled, that you be sanctified, that you be submissive, that you be suffering and finally, that you be saying thanks. That you be thankful. 1 Thessalonians 5:18, "In everything, give thanks, for this is - what? “God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” A constantly grateful heart rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks. Constant joy, constant prayer filled with constant thanks. Is that what your life is like? Is that you? Are you just overwhelmed with thanks? Are you just pouring up thanks? This is the will of God for you. There’s no mystery here folks. NO mystery at all. God’s will is that you be saved, spirit-filled, sanctified, submissive, suffering, and saying thanks all the time. That’s God’s will.

If you’re saved, spirit-filled, sanctified, submissive, suffering and thankful - you ready for this? Do whatever you want. Marry whoever you want. Go wherever you want. Work wherever you want. Choose whatever you want. You say, “Whoa. Are you sure?” Absolutely. Because if this is true of your life, who’s controlling your wants?

Psalm 37:4, “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.” That doesn’t mean he’ll fulfill yours, it means he’ll plant his. You delight in the Lord and he will plant his desires in your heart.

Well here you have the six major wills.**

If you believe that; you are dead in your transgressions.
**
Then you should listen to his Bride, the Church.**
Again you mix Catholic misunderstanding with biblical truth; not surprising for one who does not know God but is deceived into thinking that through a religion you will know Him.
You speak for Jesus, now, do you? On what authority?
The authority given to all true believers, the “few”; which is through Christ Jesus.

How can Jesus be your Lord and your King when you muzzle Him every time He speaks something that contradicts your understanding of the Bible?
**Jesus cannot be muzzled and if you speak the words of God as faithfully as possible, which I do, but you cannot hear the truth because it is foolishness to you.

You do not even know what sola fide and sola scriptura says and what it does not say because you are bent on a false understanding of it as presented by false teaching and out of ignorance of the contextual meaning of Sripture. If you were more like those faithful Bereans and compared what you are taught in light of God’s word; you would get on your knees and cry out to God for forgiveness, for understanding and faith.**

I believe you truly believe everything you say. You have bible verses down pat. You try to rationalize human understanding of the Bible to people who know that it is not human understanding the Bible requires, but spiritual. You describe your own faith as spiritual yet I haven’s seen a spiritual thing in anything you’ve written.

The Bible is full of spiritual truths: facts, stories, events, etc. All of it can be interpreted by anyone who can read. Unfortunately, there’s only one way to read it validly - with the Holy Spirit’s influence. You claim to have the correct understanding of the Bible. Impossible. No one has proper spiritual knowledge of everything in the Bible. Even us “Catholics” know that even the Pope does not. No one individual can interpret the Bible flawlessley. Except Jesus if He came down to tell us. His Church, however, which is His Body, can. Through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus did not promise his Spirit to everyone, but He did promise it to the Church. At the last supper in Luke, he promised it to the apostles. Just the apostles. Not his disciples, not a big crowd, not all of Jerusalem, Rome, or the world. Just the apostles. The infant Church. Yes, the Holy Spirit came down on disciples as well as apostles at Pentecost. These disciples were the first members of the Church. Outside the Church, it’s hit or miss. You may have the Holy Spirit in one passage, and may not in another. What’s worse is you won’t know which passages have the Holy Spirit’s interpretation and which don’t. So you assume you have it all.

Now you can go on and on and on about how we’re wrong. A devout Catholic who loves Jesus can see your error. A moderate Catholic who is a little weak in faith may see your point. A weak Catholic probably would fall for it. But good Catholics who are in the spirit with God cannot be turned. They have tasted Him and know Him and will not leave Him. If you believe Him to be someone else in our faith, then you have been decieved and need to fall on your face before the Lord asking for His Mercy and Forgiveness. If on the other hand, you are willing to admit that maybe, just maybe, you might be wrong even though you don’t think you are, then you might let the Lord in your Heart and you would see things you never saw before. You would appreciate everything that has happened to you be it good or bad, and anticipate everything that is going to happen, be it good or bad.

Someday when you are home alone, pray to Him that if you have been wrong to show it to you. Don’t think I’m just saying this and that I should do it too. I do. I’m a weak human and need to ask it of Him as often as I can.

I’d say until then, your heart will be hard and you won’t recognize Jesus in the proper way.

Sorry, but if Jesus find my words wrong, then I pray He show me the proper direction, and I humbly ask Forgiveness.

If you want to pray that “I see the light”, I welcome that as well.
