How can anybody possibly believe that "all have sinned"?

Trust me the presuppostions of Protestants is showing the perception I indicated.

This needs to get back on topic.

If you and Mrs Abbott and others want to continue this, one of you should start a new thread.
I strongly disagree. As Christians, we are supposed to be prepared to tell others of our joy in the Lord, and there is no better way then to discuss it so problems get fixed. Trust me, satan does NOT want Catholics caring about their faith, he has done an awful lot to make Catholics lukewarm.

True enough.

But Satan does love to see two Catholics disagree with each other. I am just going have to contact a Moderator to close this thread if continues to be off topic.

Man, how many times must this be said: The Church founds several infallible teachings about the truth that Mary was sinless. If you reject that Mary was sinless, you are rejecting infallible teachings of the faith, which means you are rejecting the Holy Spirit, which means you have placed your soul at risk. This is NOT a game, it is eternally serious stuff.
I never said it was a game and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. Afterall, think of how many people are reading this wondering who’s right and who’s wrong. 🙂

Friend, whether or not Mary was sinfree has everything to do with the topic at hand. If I did not think so, I would not have been discussing it here. Me thinks you protest in a very revealing manner. So do as you must.

Exactly, it is very important and without a doubt our debate goes to the heart of “all have sinned” of the OP. Many people claim that all have sinned including Mary, so it is without questions important to speak about why the Church teaches Mary never sinned.

I did option B as soon as I posted. I anticipated your answer.

JoeyWarren:
a presupposition is an assumption about the world whose truth is taken for granted in discourse. Examples of presuppositions include:

Do you want to do it again?
Presupposition: You have done it already, at least once.

My wife is pregnant.
Presupposition: The speaker has a wife.

The Catholic Church is wrong.
Presupposition: The Protestant stance is correct.
Thank you.

Perhaps you missed this question: This word, charitoō* is used in only one other place in the NT in Eph 1:6 of all believers; therefore, according to the reasoning of your argument, all believers must be sinless as well; do you believe that?* :ehh:

I said I believe it’s possible. Whether or not Mary sinned is insignificant. It’s not taught specifically in the Bible or anywhere else for that matter. All it says is that she was “full of grace”, and Catholics believe that the greek translation of that means she was sinless.
Me, personally, I’m not sure if she was or wasn’t. *It is just that simple. *
Please understand that the doctrine of Mary’s sinlessness does not rise or fall on what the bible says. The bible supports the doctrine but does not define the doctrine. This is just a case of the fact that the deposit of faith is larger than the bible.

I see.

Thank you.

Not my reasoning but the reasoning of this person:
bringyou.to/apologetics/a116.htm

Echaritosen signifies a momentary action, an action brought to pass.

That is a delicate question. It depends on the definition of what a believer is. My definition of a believer may be more conservative than yours.

Are you sinless right now?

Full of grace” is a Catholic interpretation based on its Marianology. Most unbias Greek scholars interpret it as “highly favored.” Which makes sense, since she was the Jewess chosen to bear the highly anticipated Jewish Messiah. And, therefore, truly blessed amongst all women.
“Full of Grace” is not a “Catholic interpretation.” It is simply the interpretation from the Greek to the Latin which is Gratia Plena which means Full of Grace. Plena is the feminine of pleno which means full. That’s also in Spanish. The Latin interpretation is as close as we can get to any interpretation there is of Kécharitôménê. But it still leaves something to be desired. It is even more than just “Full of Grace” because it actually means "one who has been made full of grace" or "one who has been fully graced" or "one who has been perfected in grace." It is a past action that was given to Mary by God. It is also presently true as it is a present action which still continues to this day. Mary was conceived without any stain of sin whatsoever. Sin and Grace cannot live together in a soul. Mary was so full of grace it was to the point of overflowing. If one is so full of grace how can anything else fit especially sin? Nothing else can fit in a soul that is already so full of Grace.

The verse in no way implies Mary was made void of “original sin.”
See above.

These are all the efforts of mere men to exalt Mary to juxtaposition with Christ, who truly was born without sin and was Himself another “Adam” (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Cor. 15:45). And all those “born again” through faith in Him receive (are imputed) His righteousness (Rom. 5:19). All of this has to do with Christ, and Christ alone. Nothing to do with Mary. Scripture does not recognize where men have exalted her.
Why are you so afraid to exalt Mary. God exalted Mary! So why can’t you?!! If you read scripture like you say you do then you would know that God exalts Mary. Mary’s Exaltation by God is Scriptural.

Oh the hoops one must jump through to prove that which does not agree with Divine revelation.
Do you even know what Divine Revelation is? Divine Revelation is not only words written down in a book. Divine Revelation was revealed to us in a Trinitarian way.

  1. *]Sacred Scripture - written word
*]Sacred Tradition - oral teaching & preaching
*]Magisterial Teaching - Authority given to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church to teach the Faith

You know how the Bible says Mary was “full of grace”? Is it possible that she was born with original sin, like the rest of us
NO!! How could any Catholic believe this?!!

“Full of Grace” is a “limited” Latin Translation from the Greek. The Latin translation is the best one there is out there. But it is still limited as it actually means "one who has been made full of grace" and not just “full of grace.” It is a past action. That means that God made her Full of Grace since before the beginning of time. God took the Passion of Jesus Christ and gave Mary all the Graces she needed from Jesus to be completely sinless at the moment of conception and also throughout her life on earth and in Heaven. If you say that it cannot be possible, then YOU are limiting the Power of God!

and then the moment the angel appeared to her, she was erased of all her sins?
That is just ridiculous. Read above.

Agreed. Mary being sinless is NOT a teaching held to be true by the Catholic Church.
WRONG!!!

Mary’s Sinlessness is part of our Deposit of Faith which is taught by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church!! I can’t believe you’re Catholic!!

Never said that. Maybe you should read the ENTIRE discussion before randomly posting.
