He doesn’t. Amongst those Protestant denominations which have remained truly Biblical, the differences that divide them are not fundamental, and the articles of faith in which they agree are more numerous than those in which they disagree. Why does the Holy Spirit tell thousands of different things to thousands of different Protestant denominations? Are all but one of those lying about what the Holy Spirit is telling them or is the Holy Spirit lying?
But we’re living at the end of this Church age and Scripture itself describes how these days, and the attitudes of men, will progress to the worse: 1 Tim. 4:1; 2 Tim. 3:1-7.
If you’re referring to John 16:13 then, yes, Jesus is speaking to His Disciples for the sake of their ministry. But these same truths He (the Holy Spirit) *preserved * through the inspiration of the N.T. Scriptures for the sake of subsequent generations of believers. And amongst individual believers within the Body of Christ He has always raised up teachers of the Word (1 Cor. 12:28).The Holy Spirit doesn’t lie. He guides the Catholic Church into all truth.
He met with them to extend to them the right hand of fellowship. Not submit to them - not even PeterGal. 2:9 "…and recognizing the grace that had been given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, so that we {might} {go} to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised."And Paul himself said of those who were of "high reputation"Gal. 2:6 "But from those who were of high reputation (what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)–well, those who were of reputation contributed nothing to me."Paul did not, nor did he ever “submit” to Peter, whom you assert had authority over all the Apostles. Nor did he get his “gospel” from him, but from Christ Himself.IF all believers were given different gifts–Paul would have had no reason to meet Peter or the other apostles.
True, and the “12 tribes of Israel” is to be taken literally. But what He did say to all true believers is:"He who overcomes I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne (referring to His Millennial rule on earth at His 2nd Advent), as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne."Who are the “overcomers?” Those who are “born of God” having put their faith in Christ and Christ alone:1 John 5:4 "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world–our faith.Jesus said that the apostles would rule over the twelve tribes of Israel–He didn’t say that other people would get to do that.
1 John 5:5 “Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”
Really. Then you’d better throw out Luke’s Gospel account, as well as his historical account of Acts. And while you’re at it, tear out the Book of James and disregard ALL the Catholic arguments on this forum regarding justification by faith (baptism) plus works, because they invariably appeal to James. Neither Luke or James were one of the 12.If you weren’t one of the 12 you didn’t have the authority to interpret anything.
Actually he said that only SOME THINGS were hard to understand and it was the untaught and unstable that distort them to their own destruction.2 Pet. 3:16 "…as also in all {his} letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as {they do} also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.Ulitmately, those who don’t understand Paul are the untaught and unstable. Are you admitting that you are one of them?Did not Peter say that some of Pauls teachings “were hard to understand”?
Actually, nowhere in the Scriptures is it demonstrated that Peter exercised such authority over any of the other Apostles. What I quoted from Paul’s writings (above) totally dispels this myth. And as the case at Jerusalem in Acts shows of the 12 it was Peter who exercised ultimate authority among the 12.
