I need to break this feeling and fear from other Catholic followers. I keep it to myself except to my family about my experience with God in my whole life. every time I wanted to share and I get slammed from others telling me it is not from God but the work of the devil. I came to accept that this is my spiritual journey between our Father and me, not anyone else. I love His work among us and all those saints I prayed came to me with their help and messages. For instance when I say a rosary Blessed Mother came to me through my visions many time. Jesus took me to many places, low to high to left to right. He said to me, I am a student ( since He knows my heart and who I am, I listen to no one except Him) When I go to mass, i peek and see who was with us and I see angels there. I remember one of them told me to be quiet and not to look at them. So I stop but I still get those mystic experiences everyday. More when I pray less when I do not pray. My mother became catholic when she married my dad because this church goes so deep into spiritual things that she shared them with me. I am so blessed with her for teach me how to find God within Church in my own way. I knew God when I was a child and I was homesick for Him but now I know He is with me constantly.

Now i got my chest off and pray no one will come and tell me that is wrong. I have to walk this alone and share God with so few because of what happened I was spiritually abused by someone who tell me I am speaking of evil against God. It kills me inside. All I want is to find a peace among us catholic followers and others. God did called me to go home with Him one night because I made a terrible mistake when i decided became a vegetarian and I was agnostic then. I was shocked and took me long road back to this day and finally I learn to accept that was His will that He works with me to help me to heal within me. I weeped last night for lost souls who does not get this beautiful spirituality relationship with our Father in Heaven. Peace to you when you read this. Remember this is my adversity. God bless you all.

I have seen an angel at mass. I am always looking for them. That day I was not because I was not at my parish but visiting another with a friend.

Thank you for sharing your story.

John 10:27

Dear friend, I am sorry this has been your experience with fellow Catholics. The Church is not against the idea of people experiencing God. After all, the Saints had this 🙂 look up some Saints like St Gemma Galgani.

But I would advise not sharing this with just anyone. Typically its advised to only tell a trusted spiritual director. I have never had visions of God or Our Lady but I’ve told my priest some personal things about spiritual life and he was very understanding. But I wouldn’t tell my friends. As for what people told you, - they can’t possibly know the origin of your experiences. Same with anyone here. A spiritual director would be more able to discern. Please don’t be discouraged. Keep this between God and you, and if you find a good holy priest, you can share this with him. But I’d avoid saying such things to other people. God bless you 🙂

Please do as so many saints have done, and submit your judgment to that of a trusted, knowledgeable, and preferably holy priest who agrees to be your spiritual director. It is very true that Satan would like nothing more than for you to be isolated from guidance in these matters, as this is a doorway for him to wreak havoc. Don’t forget that, should God permit them, the devils can ape everything from ecstasy to physical illness. You must be humble enough to put your trust in the guidance of those whom God has given to us as spiritual fathers.

But I would advise not sharing this with just anyone.
I think it’s usually the case that persons who are experiencing extraordinary phenomena are extremely reluctant to discuss them, and perhaps do so only when ordered to by the visions they’re having. The next step, of course, is that they submit to a priest or to a bishop.

A lack of those two factors, in my humble opinion, is problematic.

I think it depends… Normally yes. But if someone has for example had this from childhood, they may have even thought its normal. There’s a movie about St Padre Pio where as a child he tells a friar about his visions very innocently because he assumes its not so extraordinary. To him, its just what happened, nothing more. Some others may share at the beginning of their spiritual journey. I’ve never had visions of Our Lord but I shared about my interior life too much in the past especially as a new convert. Over time I realised that was a mistake and no longer wanted to. I assume it might be similar with more extraordinary events too. It is wise to get a spiritual director and submit to his judgement. If someone like the OP doesn’t have a director right now it doesn’t mean its from pride. Not everyone has heard of this, and often its difficult to find one. I do recommend it though. It also helps to safeguard humility as even with true experiences, the person can be tempted to pride later on. Humility and obedience are necessary foundations and important for those whom God blesses in this way. Therefore I suggest for the original poster to find a good and holy director preferably a priest, if they do not have one, to be able to speak about this with him, and to keep safe from any possible temptations to pride even if they are not happening. Obedience helps us against such temptations.

Just to clarify, for the sake of the thread, a person (i mean any person in general, not the OP) may have experiences that are from God, or themselves, or the enemy. It is the job of the Church to discern particular cases. They look at the fruit of the experience and the content, relation to Catholic teaching, etc. Each experience should get discerned, because for example someone may have received something from God, and had another experience that just came from their nature. In any case, this is why its important to have a spiritual director, to talk about everything in detail…online its hard or impossible to judge the reality of someone’s experiences, since we may even misunderstand the descriptions. Its something to speak to a priest about who could ask questions and understand what the experience was like.

I wouldn’t try to even decide the source of something described online unless it was extremely obvious, because I have no authority in this but also because I could be misunderstanding the description. I also don’t know the person. I’d recommend to anyone to simply speak to a priest and they’d be able to take it from there 🙂

OP; I was given some great wisdom on this. By my spiritual advisor,

To ask of yourself, was the vision etc given to you FOR you, or for you to share with others… To ponder in your heart or to spread?

Many times for me, the former. To hold me firm and to strengthen and comfort and yes to keep me alive

That was for me alone.

I once made the mistake of sharing with one priest who was scathing. Another on a different matter, was less so.

Ponder these things and feed on them.

I have seen things in my life, also. Some things I still see. I think such things can sometimes be meant as consolations to us. Many saints who were mystics were not believed. Even some fellow priests call St. Padre Pio a fraud, including about his stigmata. St. Faustina’s diary was suppressed. Some people don’t believe in such experiences at all, others may be envious. But some people will believe you. I do.

I hope you keep a written record of what you see and are told. Who knows, one day you may be a celebrated mystic and your writings read around the world.

God bless you.

Fr. John Hardon† S.J. spoke on this exact issue. True visionaries never publicize their visions of their own volition. They must not make a penny form them. They must be prodded by proper authority to divulge them, and this is for the good of the universal Church. Saint Faustina Kowalska first revealed her visions to her confessor, and it all followed from that.

Anything we experience in the spiritual realm must be compared with the teaching of the Church. This is an absolute, and it is one way of testing the spirits, as John admonished us to do in his first letter. The slightest deviation from Church teaching guarantees that the vision is not from God.

Your question is way off the mark. Many Catholics through the centuries have had supernatural experiences with God and the Church recognizes them. We call them “mystical” experiences and some of our greatest adherents (Saints) have had them and they are called Mystics.

I believe that some people see things … as a child growing up … and living in a very difficult situation at home … I did see two different things … it’s become harder for me to believe what I saw as I grew older … then again I can remember them quite vividly … I don’t doubt people when they say they see things or experience things … but I do believe we should bring these things to our priest and let him discern them for us.

You can have visions & religious experiences which are from God…but be very careful…when you said one night “God called you to go home with Him.” That doesn’t sound like God, if you are being called to kill yourself.

Listen to other people here who are telling you to ask your priest about these visions.

Some words of Jesus come to mind, when He tells His disciples not to cast pearls before swine. " as they will turn and tear you apart… " Jesus knew His critters well,Pearls are indigestible and hard and pigs will get angry and turn on you.

And pearls,of wisdom, are to be cherished and not hurled around carelessly.

This is something many of us learn the hard way and over and over again.

St John of the Cross said that if visions are from God, the visionary will be transformed and grow toward loving as God loves. Christ will shine through their charity and love.

If they are not from God, the visionary will become self-seeking and even offended when its suggested that the visions are not from God.

I have no doubt some people do have visions of Jesus, Mary and the Saints, but they are private revelations and generally keep them to themselves, unless they are told to reveal something to the world, which will benefit the world, not themselves.

The Church is very thorough in evaluating the claims of visions and only the Church can claim them to be real or not.

Thank you Jim, I am no saint alike them 🙂 I do not bring my visions to anyone because they are personal to me and mostly for my health healing. Sometime I will tell others what I saw about them. I don’t think Church had taught me much as God did with me. Lessons I learned from Him, faith and salvation. Sometime when I feel low about trouble in something, I would hear HIs Word come to me saying having a faith. Then it hit me and then keep going on and work on some issues i am facing everyday. I don’t want to be alike any of those saints, no thank you. They were so brave and strong. I am too chicken and coward to share this to world. I am afraid to come here and share this with you guys.

Thank you, since my early childhood why did I had those awful dreams about pigs every night. Now this I get it. Thank you for this. something to ponder 😉

Not allowed to have a supernatural experience with God?

Well, whether one is allowed to or not…you can’t really stop such things. Unless you take a specific kind of medication to do so.

I don’t think you should feel fear of other Catholics or let them tell you that you are “wrong”…and especially don’t listen to anyone who tells you that you are “speaking evil”.
That 'aint right.

The only think that baffles me in your post is you saying you made a “terrible mistake” becoming a vegetarian.
Are you implying that you were somehow punished by God for not eating meat??!

.
God did not punished me for not eating meat. I was slowly killing myself without I knew what I was doing. I hate eat meat still to this day because I love animals but need to eat some of them 😦 . .It was when I heard Him called me to go home with Him which scared heck out of me. I thought I was going to die but truth was He took me home with Him and showed me what was wrong with me. It took me one year to find right doctor to diagnosed my health issue now I am on medicine for one of my malfunction gland for rest of my life. I would have died then without HIs help. I am poor grammar writer, and hard for me to write to make sure if anyone understand me. k. 🙂 Thank you for asking me.
