How did Islam get so popular?

A generalization. One that is only true in certain countries. I’ve known apostate Muslims here in the US who ironically became Catholic. They were neither disowned nor harmed by their families.

That Muhammad couldn’t slaughter 700 men in an afternoon?
You silly boy. You clearly missed the point (probably deliberately) about Medina (Yathrib) being a small town in the 7th century. And instead attacked the Prophet (S) & his followers. That’s flamebait to me. You have no shame or integrity.

Allow me to answer the pop quiz for you (short answers):
What did Augustine of Hippo say about persecuting Donatists?
Coercion can be a good thing!
What did Bernard of Clairvaux say about killing Muslims?
It’s malicide, not homicide!
What did Thomas Aquinas say about punishing heretics?
Have them put to death!

If you check my early posts on this forum, I was an apostate myself for awhile. I was neither disowned nor harmed by my family.

Of course you’d perceive it as flamebait and name call (“Silly boy”) and engage in such attacks (“no shame”) in denying the truth about Muhammad because of doctrine of Taquiyya permits denial of truths regarding Muhammad. Its literally permitted by this doctrine of Islam to deny truth of what Muhammad did

Boring, I’ve discussed this topic plenty of times now. In your mind, I’m already a liar so anything I say could be a lie. You’re a very intelligent man 😉

Disturbing footage of Muslim kids saying they would sacrifice themselves and kill for the “army of Allah” surfaced from an Islamic center in Philadelphia.

The Muslim American Society (MAS) Islamic Center in Philadelphia posted the video to its Facebook page celebrating “Ummah Day” in which young children wearing Palestinian scarves sang and read poetry about killing for Allah and the mosque in Jerusalem.

The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), a watchdog group, alerted Fox News to the video.

“These are not isolated incidents; they are happening in major centers of the country – including in Pennsylvania,” MEMRI said in a statement.

In the video, translated by MEMRI, kids can be heard singing: “The land of the Prophet Muhammad’s Night Journey is calling us. Our Palestine must return to us.”

One girl talks about martyrs sacrificing their lives without hesitation to conquer Jerusalem.

“We will defend the land of divine guidance with our bodies, and we will sacrifice our souls without hesitation,” a second girl says. “We will chop off their heads, and we will liberate the sorrowful and exalted Al-Aqsa Mosque. We will lead the army of Allah fulfilling His promise, and we will subject them to eternal torture.”

MAS Philly belongs to the Muslim American Society (MAS), which has 42 chapters in the United States and one in the United Kingdom.

MAS’ website says that its mission is to “move people to strive for God-consciousness, liberty and justice, and to convey Islam with utmost clarity,” and that its vision is “a virtuous and just American society.”

In its latest press release, MAS condemns the synagogue shooting in California.

“Hate has no place in our society. In an era where we’ve seen an increase in hate crimes, including rising Islamophobia and anti-semitism, we must stand tall together in solidarity.” Ayman Hammous, executive director of MAS, said in a statement. "These acts of terror in places of worship and against humanity cannot become the norm.

Yeah, Fox probably made up the video showing the kids saying they’ll chop off heads for Muhammad. Its probably a doctored video!! I mean the amount of self-delusion(or purposeful misrepresentation per taqiyya) that has to be engaged in here is mind blowing.

I was just doing Taqiyya bro, I didn’t actually look at that red herring. Now give me a kiss instead of the hatred 😘

I was just doing Taqiyya bro,
Someone doing Taqiyya would post “I’m just doing Taqiyya, bro” in an effort to gain sympathy with some infidels and thus polarize them against each other.
I didn’t actually look at that red herring
I would look at a video of girls saying they’ll kill for Christ. That would disturb me. But only if I was against Christians killing for Christ.

What we’re really dealing with here is the standard line “Mohammed was a monster, thus all Muslims are inherently monsters”, whereas when pointing out historical Christian atrocities (like the long-winded descriptions here about Byzantine treatment of Miaphysites), well, that’s different, because clearly the Byzantine Emperors weren’t “real Christians”. There’s no acknowledgment that religious minorities in Medieval times (and frankly, well into modern times) in many parts of the world suffered persecutions and degradations. And it doesn’t answer the real question as to why schismatic and heretical Christian communities persisted so long after the Muslim conquests.

I think the poster just wants to hate Muslims, wants to ascribe some special kind of wickedness to them, and at the same time just simply ignore the political, religious and social tensions that had been building in North Africa and Anatolia for centuries before Mohammed was even born.

For goodness sake, the Nicene Creed and the Council of Chalcedon, the defining elements of Western and Eastern Christianity, were in response to popular heresies of their time, and were coupled with significant clampdowns by the Roman state on those heretical movements. If it wasn’t for the Roman imposition of Nicene christology, Arianism might very well have become the chief creed of the Western Church, seeing as it was very popular among many of the German tribes coming under Roman influence at the time. Aquinas11 seems woefully unaware that that the styles of Christianity practiced from the Eastern Mediterranean all the way to San Francisco and the Philippines was the product of ecumenical councils coupled with the force of Roman military power.

Same with you. See my post above and points (1) and (2) which you can’t refute and continue to ignore. We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

So long as you persist in special pleading and no true scotsman formulations, no, we won’t agree.
