How do non-denominational Christians pick a church?

Tweetymom,

Yes, it is good to go direct, but have you not read in the Bible where Jesus Christ states where two or more are gathered in my name, there am I, in their misdt.

So therefore it is good to go to a saint, to pray for you, because you and a saint equals two, thus equaling two, that means that Jesus Christ is present in their misdt.

Tweetymom, so it is better to go with two in prayer wether it be a saint or a friend, than go just directly yourself, I mean, if you want, Jesus Christ present in your misdt. Do You?

When I am alone, and I want Jesus Christ in my presence I pray to a Saint, the Saint and I equals two.👍

Tweetymom, therefore when you are alone and want Jesus Present spiritually there with you go to a saint.

And that is why I am married. That is why I have Christian friends. So I never have to be alone.

The principle Christ is teaching here is, you are not accountable for sin when you are unaware of it (which was the theme). I am cross apply this to an extreme to make a point. I can just wave a magic wand and say, “Oh… I didn’t know abortion was wrong. I didn’t sin.” We all have that internal moral compass that points directly to God. When you aren’t heading in that direction… you are probably sinning.
But you can’t use this verse as that “magic wand” for by doing so you have given the speaker of that verse authority the very same authority that you are dis obeying (in your given example)…

Indeed. So there’s a possibility of hundreds of thousands. Possible. Therefore 40,000 denominations is also possible, mathematically.

Why does that number bother you?

I think it’s because you understand its implications–when each person is allowed to be a mini-pope and determine doctrine for himself, this is what happens. And, it also speaks to the fact that reading the very same verses in Scripture does not lead a Christian to a single, unified truth. Another authority is needed–the Church, which is the pillar and foundation of truth!

I am inclined to believe that the earl church(also known as the WAY) was a nondenominational group; followers of Christ, united in advancing the Gospel! So what happened? How did it get so jacked up and twisted; spawning new and different ideas and philosophies? Where are we headed? Last night at an open mic music event, wher people of all different denominations attend, three men were having a discussion about religion. One said, “but I’m a Seventh Day Adventist.” The other said, “Well I’m a Baptist,” to which the other said," So, I’m a catholic." I said, “And you know what… when we all get to Heaven, it won’t matter what we were down here!”👍

Praise God won’t that be a glorious day!!!:dancing:

But John is not working as a priest, right? He is working under a prophetic authority not a priest’s authority. Exodus 28 is nice, but he is wearing Camelhair not fine linens of blue and gold.

God has him doing this for a reason.
}

We must remember that members of the Jewish High Council also wore robes of fine linen, colored blue and gold(Pharisees and Saducees)!

Jesus also affords us one-on-One time with Him! Hebrews 4:16, states"Let us now come boldly into the throne rom of grace!" So you see, you don’t NEED a saint to pray with you, or for you; you can approach Christ on your own, unafraid, and confident! Like tweetymom said,“Go directly to the source!”

The problem I see with unity among Christians is, that so many don’t necessarily want unity in the greater sense of the word, rather they want you to join their church, or denomination! When I witness to people(Christians and non Christians alike), I don’t push an agenda, I just speak the Truth, as given to me by the Holy Spirit! Invariably, they do ask where I attend church, which is not as important as what I believe! But think to yourself, what do I project to others, when I talk about Jesus, and about the Gospel, and Heaven? Am I encouraging them to come to know Jesus, or am I trying to persuade them to join my religion? Perfect unity will not likely occur on this earth, as we are crippled by pride and arrogance! I thank God every day, that He is helping me to see other Christians as brothers and sisters in Christ; rather than rivals or enemies:thumbsup:

{
I would encourage you, if you get the time over the next 5 weeks, to read John 20:21-23 and learn about the Catholic understanding of this passage and what it means to Catholics in terms of what Christ did with the authority he was given by the Father. God bless you with your commitments, and you are in my prayers, brother.
}

To tell the truth, we have heard ad nauseum what the catholic understanding of these verses is:p But, just because you believe that this gives priests authority to forgive sins at confession, does not make it true! If that were the case, any man ordained by God to teach the Gospel could forgive sins, under your premise!

And that the truth brother, thats why i go the direct route.

That’s my point. 😃

We must remember that members of the Jewish High Council also wore robes of fine linen, colored blue and gold(Pharisees and Saducees)!
And this was also my point. The discussion was John the Baptist was from a Priesthood lineage. My point was he was not working under the Jewish Priesthood and their fancy-pants clothes. God distinctly told him to wear camelhair (from before he was born).

I used the definition supplied to say that my few listed could be somewhere in that list because the definition is all inclusive. I’m not sure if my Tuesday night bible study isn’t included in that list.
That is simply the most absurd argument I’ve read here. :whacky:

That’s like your claiming, “My church has 10,000 congregants.”
When I ask you to show me the demographics you respond by saying, “We have 10% African American males, 90% Caucasians.”
Then I say, “Oh, so you’re saying that President Obama, who’s an African American male, is part of your congregation, right!”
You: Um…no, I never said that.
Me: Well, isn’t Pres. Obama an African American male? If so, then he fits your demographic! And, since he’s really not part of your congregation it proves you’re lying about the 10,000 congregants.

See how my conclusion in the above example is :whacky:?

You give unity lipservice. But your heart speaks of 40,142.
:ehh:

That’s a pretty powerful gift you’ve got there, XL, that you can see into my heart. sarcasm fully intended

You only, really, know what my words say on your computer, and I suggest you amend your judgments of what my heart speaks to that.

For the catholic church, I say there is but one.
And what does this catholic church teach about the sacraments? Are there 7? Or 2? Or none? Or do we just call them ordinances?

And what does this catholic church teach about salvation? Can it be lost? Does baptism save you? Or simply professing with your mouth?

Is Mary perpetual virgin or did she have other children?

Can women be ordained in this catholic church?

Can homosexuals marry each other here?

Is abortion a sin or a sacrament?

Does it baptize infants or wait until adulthood? Is it done by sprinkling or immersion? In a river or in a church?

🤷

Well then I suggest you go have a word with your priest. Ask him 3 things. 1. Does the Bible contradict Joseph Smith, he will answer yes. 2. If Joesph Smith contradicts the Bible can we trust anything this man says? (I’ll let your priest answer). 3. Is the Mormon faith a Christian faith? (I’ll let your priest answer).
I certainly am not claiming that Mormons are Christians, XL. However, they have every right to be on that list of over 40,000 Christian denominations as much as these group below:
(in fact, I believe that some Mormon doctrines may be closer to Christ’s teachings than those listed below and thus can therefore claim a rightful place in that obscene 40,000 listing)

You want me and mormons and the rest of the world against you. Only problem is, there are those who are for the body of Christ and there are those against. The 40,130 that you want to exclude are not excluding you. The moment you, you as a person, recognize we are all the catholic church, we will be.
So why do you exclude Muslims and Jews and Hindus and Zoroastors and Bahais and the billions of others in the world?

Why is it okay for you to exclude, but not the CC? 🤷

I am inclined to believe that the earl church(also known as the WAY) was a nondenominational group; followers of Christ, united in advancing the Gospel!
Indeed. Since there were no other denominations, it was a Christian nondenominational church.

This nondemoninational Christian church had bishops, priests, prayed to saints, celebrated the Eucharist, prayed for the dead, baptized infants, believed in purgatory, venerated Mary…

Disciplined like, the leather boot?
Disciplined, like, called into the Bishop’s office and being told he was heard to have said, such and such, and did he really say that? And if he says it again, he gets called back in again, and the Bishop asks him again, and then the third time, he is called into the Bishop’s office, and he is told that he is being transferred to do missionary work in Outer Mongolia; oh and by the way, don’t go preaching heresy to those poor souls.
